The fact that chris sawyer makes games that never break and always run smoothly even when they first come out is fucking amazing. Probably should be given an award for his work.
Great to see the locomotion tracks here. As you may know I scored the music for much of this game. Today I found my old backup disks of the music, some still at CD quality 44khz (in the game we had it at 22). To start with I've remastered the 80's style tracks from the game which you can find here: ua-cam.com/video/uo4uZS2k_ng/v-deo.html
Allister Brimble You did an absolutely incredible job on this soundtrack! Just been playing Locomotion again and I think I have the full soundtrack drilled into my head now :P Top marks
The cities grew too much for the isometric perspective. The buildings got in the way, the screen got very busying and you couldn't see what the hell was going on.
This game was so awesome, unfortunately I lost my copy of the disc so the closest I have is openttd (still an awesome game). I bought it from a school book sale and ended up a multi-billionare on the first level after about five straight hours of play. It took me forever to figure out how to run a successful business in it, but man was it awesome watching it work when I finally figured it out.
If this music was used for a video or trailer for the game, I always imagine that this would be used in a video showing the generations of transport, starting with steam, and ending with high speed trains, big trucks, planes flying, and a city in the background
This is quite a bit late (by like 6 years), but this file is css5.dat in the Data folder. Just rename it to css5.wav (or css5.mp3 apparently) and enjoy!
My Grandparents gave me Locomotion in the past and I started playing Locomotion on the PC/ Computer now this year I think I lost my game or got rit of game .

It was made in x86 Assembler code which is a feat in and of itself. He literally taught the computer to move bytes around in the exact way he wanted.
+James Gilmore Chris Sawyer is truly a technical wizard.
+DeadTurret Yeah.
This song never ceases to be an absolute bop. So far from being repetitive, and these disgustingly good solos.. god damn, what a game.
fancy seeing you here

!!!! Dude! I pulled the sound files from my install of Locomotion and put them on my iPod. That's amazing that you have backups of the originals!
Yep and mostly I have the 44khz versions as we had to downsample to 22 in the game unfortunately

Nice work, not less can be said
The legend himself!! Thank you so much for the tracks that all of us remember note-for-note all these years later!
Why did this game score so badly on IMDB? This game has devoured hundreds of hours of my life since childhood.
+Luke Handscomb Many people compare it to Transport Tycoon, the game that came before it. IMO I like Loco more anyway.
Luke Handscomb same here, I played this until my computer crashed every time I opend the game.
The cities grew too much for the isometric perspective. The buildings got in the way, the screen got very busying and you couldn't see what the hell was going on.
If you start in 1900, by 1970 the cities are Manhattan-level of dense.
Just like Manhattan.
Here I am, nearly seven years later and I`m downloading it to my new computer. Here`s to another chance to play this great game.

It's on steam now, so you can buy it digitally.
Sweet! Thanks for letting me know.
PNWRailfan well I know what I'm buying
Damn right I'm buying that.
When is the code for this released on the public domain? So we can have an OpenLocomotion 😊
This game was a legend. Das Spiel war eine Legende

Damn back here again and I still love this. Unironically this is a great workout song
GAH it made me cry. SO MUCH NOSTALGIA. SO FUCKING GREAT
This is one damn funky tune. Every time I hear this I just stand up and start dancing!!
I’ve had this game for 20 years and counting. Got my copy at a Scholastic Book Fair that year, in 4th grade, 2004. Nostalgia forever! ❤️👌😎
Imagine a brand new TGV rolling off a depot with this song. Too epic. XD
My whole childhood. I love this game with all my heart !
Chris Sawyer deserves some trofeuuuu
Ahh, the good ol' times. This game was amazing, I am so tempted to play it again.
Used to love this friggin' game. Theme brings back memories!
Good times; I just got the game again via steam and I'm remembering the empires I made with this game
Unitedforever same
For some reason the first few notes of the horns reminds me of the song "Busy Earnin"
oh god this song man. thanks for this!
One of chris sawyers best and underrated games ever!
This is quite a bit late (by like 6 years), but this file is css5.dat in the Data folder. Just rename it to css5.wav (or css5.mp3 apparently) and enjoy!
I had no idea how to play this game, but I loved it.
When I was in elementary school I bought this game at a book fair and now I have it on Steam
This beat freakin' drops.
this game is a true legend. i wish i still had my copy.
It's available on Steam now.
Reconized it immediately
For all those wondering, the data file for this one is css5.
I'm gonna start playing this game again.
Written and produced by the great John Broomhall, who wrote the music for the original Transport Tycoon
Listen at 1.5x lol, that sounds so awesome too!!
replayed this in Steam after 19 years...
PoV: you became a billionaire in 1 hour in the game
this was developed by atari! wow... they didn't screw it up this time! if only legoking831 could see this.
Epic song...
My Grandparents gave me Locomotion in the past and I started playing Locomotion on the PC/ Computer now this year I think I lost my game or got rit of game .
There is no reason for the theme to a game about transportation to go this hard. This is a good example if things happening for no reason being good.
Why does this sound so similar to Jungle - Busy Earnin' (or rather, why does Busy Earnin' sound so similar to this)
fucking LEGENDARY
Quick - Who did you guys pick to play as? I always picked Cecil Cityscape
I was always Mick Motormouth.
Damn, this nostaliga though.
Weatherworld - wanna bloat those cities into a megalopolis that would put Tokyo to shame? Be my guest!
Not really. It was developed by Chris Sawyer. Atari just put their logo on it afterwards. :-)
What data file?
Which .dat file is it?
Can someone tell me if these where made for the game?
+THIS IS GAMING ! They were made for the game.
Aragorn II Elessar That's amazing!
Precision draw - That is how I describe it lol.
I need the download for this.
S2 Capitalism!!!! :D
@DevinFilms66792 Look up CD Codes on Google.
I DEMAND A GUITAR TAB! and which .dat is it?
css5.dat, rename to .wav an voila!
Can confirm.
Which one is it?
Is this soundtrack copyrighted?
This is like mike mangini on drums
But this theme song Locomotion rocks .
Lost my CD Key code X(
How to get

Buy on eBay
ARCSOA, anyone??
Jungle - Busy Earnin'
Stole this song.
+Kleginaldo Paz He is lying. Looked it up myself. Stop doing false advertisment.
+TherealScrable There is a bit of a similarity between the songs I guess
+Kleginaldo Paz What year was it produced?
Which one ever came later definitely borrowed from the earlier
Locomotion came out before the song.

Chris Sawyer made TTO & TTD
