Ali Siddiq is a stand-up comedian, public speaker, and writer out of Houston. Ali’s unique style of stand-up began behind the walls of incarceration, an incubator for interesting experiences and good stories.
People received their first taste of Ali Siddiq when he appeared on HBO's DEF COMEDY JAM and LIVE FROM GOTHAM, and in 2013 he was named Comedy Central's "#1 Comic to Watch". In 2014, Ali impressed comedy enthusiasts by displaying his ability to captivate an audience with his "Mexicans Got On Boots" tale, descriptive storytelling, with over 15 million views, of a prison riot on THIS IS NOT HAPPENING, the first of three appearances. His stories continued with his HALF HOUR special, which premiered on Comedy Central in the fall of 2016. Immediately following the premiere of that special, Comedy Central offered Ali an hour-special where he performed for inmates live in a Texas jail, sending Ali back to where it all started. The hour special, Ali Siddiq: It’s Bigger Than These Bars, premiered in February 2018 on Comedy Central. In 2019, Ali could be seen as a Top 5 finalist on NBC’s BRING THE FUNNY. Most recently, Ali could be seen as a guest on THE JOE ROGAN EXPERIENCE.

I just finished watching Ali's "Bigger Than These Bars" on Paramount Plus 😂 I've never been to prison, but at times I have seen the inside of a few county jails such as Bell County where Ali staged that special. For my money, Ali is funnier than Eddie Griffin, Kevin Hart, or Katt Williams. Correct me if I'm wrong, but neither Hart, Griffin, or Williams ever did a show INSIDE a pod at a county jail. Plus, keep in mind, that even legendary comics like Richard Pryor rarely wrote their own material. (Paul Mooney was Pryor's joke writer) Ali's comedy is based on his personal experiences in life. And Ali doesn't employ a writer, because like the saying goes, "you can't make this stuff up"! 😂 The magic of Ali's talent as a comedian is seen through his ability to connect with his audience, albeit I doubt most of his audience has ever been to prison or experienced a day in the life of a 19-year-old cocaine dealer. I'm a Gen X Southern boy, raised in the suburbs, but I can relate to Ali's comedy, having been raised near, and had friends who lived in, the inner city of Memphis. Like Ali says, "no one ever plans to go to jail" 😂 And, as I'm sure Ali will testify, a person has to keep their wits about them whenever riding dirty with 4 keys of coke, or trying to smuggle 100 lbs. of weed through customs 😉 😂 Just for the record, my flag isn't a Confederate flag. It's from the design of Evel Knievel's jumpsuit. Evel was another man who took great risks in life, having also saw the inside of a few county jails, but lived to tell the tale. Like Ali, it takes courage, and sheer talent, to turn a (once) life of crime into a successful stand-up routine, and even greater talent to be able to relate to an audience who'd likely never be involved in such "extracurricular activities", and all without the benefit of a professional writer. I expect Ali will (or should) soon surpass the popularity of the likes of current comics, because Ali's material doesn't rely on sex jokes, vulgarity, race baiting, or plagiarizing material of other comics. This dude is straight up hilarious! 😂
