Hi ya, this was a good day out. The rock formations were specularly unusual, and the coast looked so inviting. Plus the Seals, the stars of the show. Fab vlog! xx
That plant at the start is Toe Toe, often called cutty grass as the edges are actually serrated and can cut skin. Masterton is a solid place to be based out of to explore the Wairarapa, as it is reasonably central It's also only an hour and a half to Palmerston North, or 2 hours to Wellington. The Pūkaha National Wildlife Centre is a good visit, and Martinborough is one of the winery centres of New Zealand.
That plant toi toi I’m sure use to be used in defence around defensive Māori forts. As it’s difficult for attackers to hide in it and keep the leaves/. Fronds back enough to fire shots. You move one frond and another takes it’s place and so forth. Mountains?, I’d call those hills lol
Hi from Canterbury. Enjoyed sharing your trip to the pinnacles. Have never been there. Looks amazing. If you are heading to the South Island at any time there are a lot of seals along the coastline near Kaikoura.
@@NotAnotherAdventure Yes there are whale watching boat trips you can go on in Kaikoura. Another place to visit is Akaroa. A Place near Christchurch which was settled by the French. They have wildlife cruises, swimming with the dolphins (might be a bit cold right now🙂), penguins, and some nice walks. Also the Giant's House with amazing mosaic sculptures. Enjoy your NZ travels.
How long was your hike in the Pinnacles? I’m going in June and trying to get as much info as I can. Is the trail well marked or did you just follow the stream? Thanks!
*Seals: always stay a good distance away from any wildlife in NZ for your own safety. Geyser is pronounced Guyser..... The plant you asked about is either Toe Toe... or the weed one Pampass Grass. Google info: The native species are generally known as Toe toe which is frequently mispronounced and miss-spelt as Toi toi. Many New Zealander's don't know the difference between the native species and the introduced pampas grass which they also refer to as Toe toe.*
That's really helpful, thank you! Yeah we didn't go too near the seals and just zoomed in on the camera, although we didn't see the one hiding in the bush 😅
You guys look like a great company for a travel or a pint. Very nice video! Would love to visit NZL one day 😍
Thanks so much! We love a good pint! Honestly it's one of the most incredible places we've been, you've got to go!

Thanks Rachel!x
LOTR was filmed there. It's where the dead army lives.

Thanks! Yeah it seems pretty central which is cool. Great, we'll have to check that out sometime!

Yeah mountains back home have nothing on the mountains here 😂

Hello! When we get down to South Island we'll have to check that stretch out! We've heard it's a good place to look for whales as well?

Right? Seals everywhere you look!
You's both need to visit the Omarama clay cliffs in the Otago Region, South Island.
We've just googled them and oh wow! We've got to check them out!
Looks like a Frodo to me ❤
'Mr Frodo sir!'
Those rocks were epic!! I'd want to get a drone up through there for some Star Wars runs 😅. Great vlog you guys ✌️
Yess that would be awesome! We're dying to get a drone to get cool shots like that!
Bombur for the mascot.
Brilliant!
The grasses are toi toi
Thank you!

Hi there! The trail wasn't the best waymarked. But there's a map at the start of the trail, and we followed the stream the most of the way up!
Pampas grass, I think!😊
Yes!
No not Pampas Grass- ToiToi@@NotAnotherAdventure

Gotta be Dave (yes that no link to NZ or LOTR 😝) and you lost your sis
Love it 😂 Yeah she's working a couple of hours away from us for a while!
The plant is a Toetoe. Pronounced similar to toy-toy. How about naming your mascot "Manu"? It's the Maori word for bird!
BTW, Manu is pronounced MAH-noo 😊
We love it!
It’s “Toi-Toi”
This video gets my seal of approval 🦭 ♥️
