Nice job Erik! Thanks for showing us all the tone variations that the RB108 is capable of reproducing. This is the best amp review I have ever seen and heard. The camera work and audio recording is perfect. I'm gonna buy one for my practice sessions. Thanks
I bought this for my Epiphone (Gibson) SG Bass and they are a match, sound good together. I put the volume halfway up and the neighbor complained her windows were rattling!
As of July/2021 The BA (tilt back front panel) series is still in the online catalog from Ampeg. I'll be getting the RB108 in three days, and will be buying a RB115 this coming November. With my ext cab, I'll be doing serious damage!
This is so irritating, yet so detailed AND great. Okay, contradiction there, but it is an amazing detailed sound check for a new amp. I'm NOT a grit fan, but this amp is nice for practice without sacrificng your quality or style. Thanks Sifu Erik.
15 seconds in and I liked the video. Always good work Erik! Planning to swap out my Darkglass Microtubes 500 V2 rig for either the RB-115 or 210. That SGT is niiice.
@@erikarko Looking forward to it! I was deciding between the 112 and the 115 but I’m not a fan of the high midrange zing of a 12” speaker. My Jazz Bass is going to sound too trebly, lol
Thank you for this video. I get my 108 on thursday. I need some Amp that I can play at very low volume with a dirty sound, not to harsh like many distortion and vintage pedals. SGT sounds awesome for me. I have also the Scrampler Pedal. You have also nice tones with extreme settings. I could play with less bass and much more bass and highs and it sounds great (in the videos). My highsensible ears have trouble with loud band music. But I decided to get a new Amp. A Ashdown ABM 600 Evo IV will replace my Mesa Subway D800+.
Just tested. I can only play on 8 clock volume. The mids and the GRIT drive is awesome. Not to much. Hard fingerpicking sounds nice. Tappings sounds enough, sweepings are fine.
Nice review ... young man. So you got me to subscribe...ERIC. I like that full scale and cord repeated... tells MUCH more than these self indulgent folk that noodle endlessly trying to impress you with their ridiculous "CHOPS ". THANKS for using your grey matter... And thinking thru the purpose of a tonal review. Apples to apples. If we could just get the other review channels to take a lesson from your example. CHEERS !
@@BurtonBoyz715 Thank You, once again - glad that you "noticed" this method :) I want to present the amp/pedal/whatever piece of gear that I'm demoing in the most "honest" way possible, and I'm really glad that you took your time to comment on this! :)
for a kala u bass ebony fretless and study at home would better this ine or orange? kala u bass should be plugged in 0 db in line or in the other one? Thank you
Very thorough and useful review. I have an Ampeg BA 115 and a Fender Rumble 40 and am recommending some bass amps to a friend. I prefer 10 inch or larger, but I could recommend this one.
I got this and a yamaha trbx304 and it's really quiet with my headphones plugged in... i have the amp and bass guitar volume knobs at max and its very quiet.. if i raise the bass knob on the bass guitar it gets really muddy.. you know why it's so quiet? I'm using some $15 walmart earbuds

Nice!! 🤘🤘🤘🤘
I love it when you play the same line and test all the knobs
It’s the most transparent way to test a piece of gear IMHO :)

👍👍👍
Mini Ampeg 😋. With the bass knob up it seems to be great option for an affordable studio reamping option!
It really is! It impressed me :)
Bang for the buck this seems like a nice buy for a super basic practice amp. Nice review.
Yup, it really is!! Thanks! 🙌
Excellent review Erik 👍
Thanks Paul! 🙌🙌🙌
Thanks for sharing just bought one based off this video
Nice to hear!!

The SGT sounds cool!
Agreed! Can’t wait to try the bigger versions and actually be able to control the drive and level of it! :)
Thank you! Great demo. Happiness and Peace.

Awesome stuff dude.

Nice demo! 👍
Thanks!!
Man, that Yamaha sounds freakin killer. That’s the Billy Sheehan model right?
Correct! :)

@@erikarko It's a breath of fresh air... A perfect engineering A - B test ...the way it should be done... very useful... THX.

Great video. How does it sound through the phones output?
I’ve only tried it pretty quickly, but it sounds good! :)

I’d go with this one :)
Try which input sounds the best! I’m not sure how “hot” the Kalas are :)

Hmmm no idea! Have you tried with a different set of headphones?
What maiden shirt is that? I don’t think I’ve ever seen it before.
It’s from HM! 😂
If u play using the headphone jack, is the tone different than if u played the bass through a regular guitar amp that also has a headphone out?
Not Really, no. There’s no cabsim or what have you on the headphone out, if that’s what you’re wondering :)
What kind of strings are you using in this video? Name, type, and gauge please?
Same as always! Rotosound Billy Sheehan signature round wound set, 43-110!
This Reminds me of the Rumble Fender Bass Amp
I guess the usage of them is pretty similar :)
What is 0db and - 15db output ?
It’s a pad, in case you have a very hot output on your bass.
Any hiss?
I didn't gate any out, so if You don't hear any in the demo/playthrough, then there is none :)
@@erikarko thank you. I've got an old Ashdown after eight 15w that has white noise issues 😆
I don't get any hiss at all on mine but the static is pretty loud if you don't have good grounding.

👍
It's just a pretty darn Basic amp.
I spent my money on a Fender Bronco amp instead.
Good job anyhow..
Yup. A practice amp, essentially :) Haven’t tried the Bronco amp! Hope it serves you well! 👍
Good Job
Thanks 🙏
Too bad there isn't a head version
Yeah, with about 900w or so!
I'm purty darn sure you like saying purty darn sure. :)
D’oh! 😂😅
