Wow, I just found and listened to this session - 3 years after it was made. Soooo many helpful points and information! Thank you Attorney Davies and Jody-Ann 🙏🙏
this was so helpful. I love the way she breaks everything down. i am starting my own business as an event planner I SUGGEST EVERYONE WATCH THIS if they are planning writing up a contract for an event.
Hey Miss Ticora, I first heard of you as a guest speaker for Meisha Pigford's Two Year Tweak Program. I love your personality also. Thank you for sharing this information with us. It is very needed in our field of wedding and events.
Thanks so much , this makes a lot more Sense. I’ve been decorating I want to say hobby . I honestly got into decorating was because I was let down for my 50 birthday . Even thou it’s a friend paying down payments were not excepted after agreed upon . So I guess it was a handshake . So moving forward I’m seeing if and where I fit in this industry . Finding my niche and it’s been hard to charge clients . Thanks again 👍🏽
I had to leave and go get the food for the reception so I missed seeing the wedding ceremony (4 large trays for the buffet). I was an assistant to the wedding planner, so I personally didn't need to be at the ceremony. Questions: 1) When would you use an invoice? Or where would you use the invoice...with the proposal documents or with the full contractual agreement documents? 2) Why would you need an invoice altogether if you have listed the Scope of Services in the contract that they will sign anyway? 3) I found out that there are some states that don't allow you to have a "Non-Disparagement Clause" in your contract. California, where I live, is one of them. Is this true? 4) The Event Service Agreement (Wedding Planning Agreement) IS the Contract, correct? 5) With Force Majeure it would seem as though if the wedding planner doesn't have to fulfill her/his contract because of "the weather or unforeseeable events", then it would seem as though the client shouldn't have to pay anything that is dues at the time of the event either, for the same reason don't you think (which is why it's a good idea to get Payment-in-Full before the event)? I concur with Natasha about your personality, Miss Ticora. Thank you, Miss Jody-Ann, for sharing your knowledge.

An invoice and a contract are two different documents. Once is requesting payment. One is outlining the terms of your agreement.
