  • Portugal's Douro Valley is one of the most scenic wine regions in the world. Steep, terraced vineyards, often protected by UNESCO heritage status, line the banks of the River Douro as it twists and turns towards the city of Vila Nova de Gaia.
It is in the Douro that grapes are grown for the production of Port - a sweet fortified wine with a long-standing reputation for high quality wines, some of which can age for decades. In this webinar, Chris Martin DipWSET, Head of Educator Training at WSET and Port aficionado, takes you through the history of the region and its growing conditions before taking a look at the various wine production processes and maturation options that define the different styles of Port. And, as it's nearly Christmas, Chris will also suggest some festive Port pairings to inspire your holiday sipping.

Vinha ao alto (vines planted in line with the slope) according to WSET3 textbook: “cannot be planted on steepest slopes”. Which is the opposite to what was explained in this video. I’m really disappointed as now I can't find this source credible :(. Shame as I'm studying for my WSET3 exam.
