*This specific book the head and tail are sewn with the Celtic weave and the middle of the spine sewn with a double needle Coptic stitch and a variation of herringbone on double raised threads. To see the completed book: www.instagram....
For this Celtic weave binding you will need:
front and back covers
signatures and/or folios
4 threads (2 if only creating one weave)
8 curved needles (4 for one weave)
You will sew in paired stations. For this book, my stations for each Celtic weave are 1.25 inches (3.175 cm) apart. The distance between paired stations on the covers and the signatures or folios must match.
Binding style credit to Keith Smith and his fabulous series of books on bookbinding. The Celtic weave found in “Non Adhesive Binding, Vol. 3: Exposed Spine Sewings”
Here is where I purchased the book. NOT an affiliate link. www.amazon.com...
I am new to bookbinding and have wanted to try my hand at this style of binding. Hope this video helps in your journey as well!
Part 2 coming soon!
