Had sew-in weaves for about 10 years and my number one aftercare tip is to leave a good few weeks between taking them out and getting new ones! Obviously different as I have coily hair but it’ll prevent breakage & reduce likelihood of tension headaches. Hair looks phenomenal!!
Lol all the black girls know about sew ins, I am not sure if it is her method considering you can go into any black hair salon and get sew ins. She is doing what the black community has bees doing with weaves for well over 20 years. I think you are AMAZING ! Keep shining! I do not mean any disrespect but it seems like your stylist went to the black community and learned how to do a sew in and now call it her method. Your stylist is obviously very talented. She should add another component to her technique and educate her base about weaves and how to maintain the extensions. I do wonder if your extensions are going to slip because your natural hair is thin and not textured, causing them to slip, but maybe that’s where the wax you mentioned comes in. Be very careful with drying the weft completely. Follow up in a month and let us know how you like them.
When she said its her stylist method.. my jaw dropped to the floor.... so what i've benn doing for the last 10 years in a whole different continent??? ahhahahahahhaa. TBH no tea no shade i only trust black hairstylists to do my sew ins. and braid patterns. I think she should've looked out for a real weaveologist that do celebrities hair and show some appreciation for someone from the culture... Not someone who went down to the neighborhood and got back saying that she got a signature method....
@@twoohoot No hate for sure, but I know if Laur DIY knew, she would have educated her audience. When the stylist called it her method…l just shook my head. Lol. Wait…have you been to the Ethiopians, Afro Latinas, Dominicans? Serious hair care and weave techniques for DAYS,
@@breezyc5641 for sure. It's not her fault it's the hairstylist, because she said herself it's her method. If she said. But she said it's her signature and there is people that have to take classes or what not to be master in HER method.... I was looking for my wooden comb to smack that lady.
Your hair looks beautiful but I’m really shocked at Kacey Welch’s assertion that this is an extension process she created. Weaves were created by a Christina Jenkins, a black woman, in the 40’s and has been predominantly used on black women since it’s creation. Her passing off sew ins as her own creation is really gross. I don’t think you were aware of any of this beforehand, at least I hope you weren’t. But this woman stole this technique and frankly it’s really disgusting.
from Amanda Major, who said "[Kacey Welch's] extension method is similar to other hand-tied weft methods with the beads and the wefts sewn in, however, the Kacey Welch Method beads are much closer together. This eliminates balding at the bead points and pulling on the first bead is eliminated because the closer beads form a stronger foundation. Also, the hair is strung between the beads instead of using the string and this creates a stronger foundation." So, the only thing different is the composition of her hair "wefts" or what everyone else knows as bundles. She still sews these wefts into a subtle, tiny cornrow, making the only thing remotely original about this process being the actual hairpiece and not the method.
@@AM.000 To make sure I was correct in my assumption that she was indeed marketing weaves as her own “method” and creation I looked into it and was aware of this already, but thank you for sharing in case someone else comes across this information so they can learn too. Your hair looks amazing and so beautiful on you I love it! I also just wanted to let you know that Sew ins were actually created by women of color, and it’s nice of kacey to expand on ways to do it for different ethnicity’s, but I just wouldn’t call it the “Kacey Method” specifically because it wasn’t originated by her. Definitely do research on the topic and don’t just take my word for it though, and thank you for taking us with you on this fun day!
I was reading that it’s the technique she uses and the quality of hair that makes it Kacey’s Method. But she is definitely not the first or last to do it, for sure.
I was thinking the same thing too! She’s calling it her method when it’s technically sew ins. I understand she is probably changing the method a little but at the end of the day it’s still sew ins and they were first created and originated by women of color.
I love how the hair stylist calls it her method but really black people know it’s a weave. We done been getting weaves since day….. but let me mind my business 👀
I’m white but that was my very first thought when she said the lady named the method after herself like we know she didn’t create it. Just another example of white people claiming ownership of something POC created and popularized

This is why extensions sound like a trap to me. Havent heard of one person who in the long run didnt end up with a lot less hair because of extensions. They look beautiful yes! Quick question. Why doesn't your hair salon take out your extensions? Mine does. I have been going to her for I don't know 20 years? I have had extensions that long. She removes and replaces the same day.
they requested I have them removed! the original girl who put them in could have come over to take them out but it’s 2 diff people so it’s not a replacement type sitch if that makes sense!
@@laurDIYvlogs that does make sense. The color is beautiful.

It's feels illegal to be this early 🤣🤣🤣

Loool... Never considered myself lucky for having strong and thick hair, now I guess I do bcz I don't need or want extensions 😅 I always get annoyed with my hair bcz curls falls down so fast and it's sooo annoying and sad 😂
