I did Marcy twice 1st time was in 2014 it was my 3rd High Peak and then I did it again with my 2nd Skylight and Phelps hike Haystack was my 11th High Peak and I did it during my 21 Hour Hike from Upper Works to JBL alongside Redfield(who I’ve done 6 times) Gray(who I’ve done twice) and Skylight(who I’ve done twice The Wolfjaws I did twice as well the 1st time was the morning after my 21 hour hike I rested for 5 hours and then went right back to hiking and made the Wolfjaws my 12th and 13th High Peak Basin Saddleback Gothics and Armstrong I did all together and they finished my quest to get all 28 High Peaks that are taller than Mount Vesuvius and then I did my 2nd hike on the Wolfjaws giving me 43/46 High Peaks
That's awesome! I can't wait to get back out to these mountains for another time during different seasons! I especially can't wait to do Marcy again considering I was completely socked in with clouds on this one.
My friend and I are planning to do this route in a few days. We intend on leaving from rooster comb lot and ending at the garden, basically the opposite direction loop of yours. Curious how many hours this took you to complete?
@dennis7seat Have fun out there! This hike was absolutely incredible! Don't sweat the Saddleback Cliffs, either. They're definitely easier than made out to be. It took me 10 hours and 30 minutes. Going in the direction you are should afford you a more relaxed second half of the day, being that it's mostly flat through the valley.
tent campers? I was just told by another youtuber that camping in tents and hammocks isnt allowed, that you can only stay in the shelters...I need to do more research
Tent and hammock camping are absolutely permitted. However, there are strict rules in place, so it's important to understand them. The rules are as follows. Tents, tarps, lean-tos, or temporary structures composed of snow permitted. No Camping at any location above 4,000 feet in elevation. (Sno-Bird is the only exception to this) No Camping above 3,500 feet in elevation but equal to or less than 4,000 feet except at a primitive tent site. Camping within 150 feet of any trails or water is permitted only at designated sites.
@@DerekGHikes ah, gotcha. When would be the earliest for it to not be muddy? Fall would be awesome, but I don’t know if I wanna wait that late in the year and I know it would be busier that time too
@TheBane1979 haha unfortunately what I've learned from the Adirondacks is that it's ALWAYS muddy. But mud season in particular, because of the snow deteriorating, it makes hiking kind of miserable. If you don't want mud, then yeah, fall is great!

@@DerekGHikes thanks! I’m planning a visit this year, I’ll make sure I read up on the rules. How’s the area in June?
@TheBane1979 Technically, early June could still be considered mud season, so trails could be quite messy with melting snow conditions.
