I have a stock AOD my self and want to keep it in my mustang. At the same time I want to modify my fox body to run between 12's-10's with bolt ons in 1/4 Mile Did you put a heavy duty Auto transmission kit in yours with a shift kit? Or is it just a converter?
I bought a new Lentech Aod. It comes with a solid 1 piece Input shaft. Which is the aod weak link. You definitely need that if you plan to keep the aod. The other stuff isnt as important but it comes with a new valve body that gives you the ability to shift all 3 gears. It has a switch for overdrive so it doesn't go into overdrive while racing also the shifts are nice and crisp
Just to add to my earlier post. You dont have to get a lentech Trans. You could just get the valve body and bring your trans to a shop that does work with high performance parts. They will know what to do with the one piece shaft and put better clutches and other parts in the trans. Wait for converter till you figure what cam you are using
@@willsilversurfinharris6239 No. I have a lentech built AoD which gives me the ability to shift 1st to 2nd then 3rd. Overdrive is now electronic. I have to switch it on and off

When you had this combo on your modified factory AOD did you have any problems? Overheating, broken parts, etc? Was your 3k stall converter malfunctioning or something? I want to keep my AOD but just modify it.
No I haven't had any problems. I put a B&M transmission cooler on it the biggest size and a deeper B& M pan. I also don't drive the car that much either. I do drive it to the track though

@Oscar Villarreal it would be fine just install a temp gauge and change the fluid once a year. My friend made 750 hp with a built aod and drove it to the track
