Welp looking at each comment (and I do read every comment cause I'm bored and I love yall) the pulse live version of this is next, that and echoes. This is gonna be fuuuuun :)
CHECK OUT HAVE A CIGAR AS WELL!!! AND IF YOU LIKE THE GUITAR WORK FROM GILMOUR ALSO CHECK OUT MAROONED AND AS IM TYPING THIS COMFORTABLY NUMB STARTED PLAYING ON THE RADIO
the "pulse"-versions of "Comfortably Numb","High Hopes" or "One of these Days" are always good decitions!Same with "Echoes"....first the studio version than "live in Pompeji"....pleeeease!!
Ahh, Pulse. Grab your crash helmet. Buckle up. Try to prepare yourself but no matter what the fundamental truth is: You. Are. Not. Ready. Because nobody is ready for Gilmour's solo at that concert. Pretty sure David Gilmour is an avatar of Apollo for at least those 10 minutes.
When I was a child, I caught a fleeting glimpse Out of the corner of my eye I turned to look but it was gone I cannot put my finger on it now The child is grown, the dream is gone And I have become comfortably numb
you really need to listen to entire pink floyd albums to truly get the experience. each song generally leads into the next. especially their later albums. like 1 giant track.
My friend, David Gilmour is one of the best emotionally charged guitar players on the planet.. His vocals are so crisp and clean. Fantastic band, especially live, which I've had the pleasure of witnessing..
You going to get a ton of comments telling you to watch them do this song live. Do it. Not for us, but for yourself. Just search Pulse Comfortably Numb. It’s the live version during the Pulse Concert. Often considered one of the greatest performances in rock.
Definitely!!! My fav song of all time! And I listen to everything for 35+ years, so I know what I'm talking about. Some examples... Sade, Metallica, Alice in chains, Smokey Robinson, Bob Marley, Frank Sinatra, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Buddy Guy, Scarface, Nas, The.Doors, The Isley Brothers, Fleetwood Mac, Lenny Kravitz, Pantera, Ministry, Maxwell, The Weekend, Smashing Pumkins, and Sam cook. Just to name a few.
Floyd and Zeppelin send you on a journey, no other bands have that magical ability to send you to another time and place. While listening you either will flashback to previous times in your life or be taken to another plane you never were at before.
I can't believe I bought this album 40 years ago! I used t get high, put on my headphones and listen to this album (The Wall). now I get high, watch you put on your headphones and listen. LOL. Great reaction as always, "this is like febreeze" had me rolling :)
One of the greatest songs/ riffs of all time.Want to hear that riff longer...try their concert at Pulse or Pompeii.Their light show is worth it by itself.
You done did it now. The wormhole awaits you. One word of advice. Pink Floyd albums were written, played, engineered and produced to be heard in their entirety. 2 PF songs in and you seem to get “it”. Don’t waste the opportunity to hear how they were meant to be heard. The proof is in all of the other reactor communities comment sections. Go look at all the comments from them and see if the overwhelming message isn’t, “ you need to listen to the whole album whether it’s Animals, The Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, The Wall, or Meddle. They all are themed concept albums.
I couldn't agree more. Pink Floyd is an amazing band whom albums are meant to be heard as a whole piece. Obviously too long for a reaction channel video. But, just for a personal voyage into what a journey this band can bring you on with their music. I play guitar and bass. I have been learning their music for over 20 years and I can say it was and is, the hardest thing I have done musically. Their music while not being over flashy is well thought out, very complex in its subtleties and just a pure pleasure to listen to and play.
Yesssssssss you’re feeling the emotions. This era of album rock has not been matched for its sheer humanity. Lyrics with meaning, singers and instrumentalists without auto-tune or other fakery, and creative song structure. No mystery why these songs are as fresh today as they were when the vinyl first dropped. 🎶🎵🎶🤘🏼😆🎸
Not only the string bending, but his entire style of soloing is different from almost every other rock guitarist that I can think of. If you look at a list of the greatest guitarists, most of the list will be filled by people known for playing fast. Eddie Van Halen, Yngwie Malmsteen, Jimmy Page, Steve Vai, every metal guitarist.... David Gilmour is on the other end of the spectrum. Very minimalist in the number of notes he plays. There's an old adage used in engineering that applies to Gilmour: "perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away."
I’ve never seen you before, but I love you man. To see you gettin that intense emotional buzz that Dave Gilmore’s guitar puts through my spine. You’re so alive, so open to experience thing’s that I’m guessing aren’t your regular taste. You shine bro! Peace.
I love to just listen and pick out every single instrument, the layering, my Lord! ( yes in the studio it was synth, but still, go back and listen to each and every string and horn, etc.)
At Pink Floyd concerts, they place speakers to the side and behind the audience. The sound comes from everywhere and you are immersed into the music. No such thing as a bad mix, you can hear every note. Couple that with amazing laser shows, flying pigs and at one concert I was at, a large plane came out of the rafters which crashed beside the stage. My first concert was in 1971, and cost $9.50 to get in. I think I like Dark Side of the Moon best, but I really like them all. In this genre, Yes, King Crimson and Genesis were also top performers. I like the saying, "You don't need weed to enjoy Pink Floyd, but if you smoke weed, you do need Pink Floyd". Times were different then. Recording time got cheap, bands did not care if the songs were longer than 3 minutes (a radio restriction) and so they wrote what they felt. They were also excellent musicians. I would recommend "Close to the Edge" full album and "Selling England by the Pound" (the song Firth of Fifth is amazing) but there is also much more mind blowing material. You will notice that these songs have time to develop "tension" using fast riffs with lots going on, alternative and changing time signatures and other ways of generating and releasing the tension in a song. You don't get that with 3 minute radio songs. I hope you enjoy this.
I told you those headphones would change the way you appreciate the production value of this music generation. They put so much more into each song than they do today it's amazing. Really enjoy your reactions keep it up. Thanks.
To listen to Pink Floyd is an amazing journey. As many of us have already told you , you need to listen to the all album , you will just let yourself go. Start with Dark Side of the Moon. Pink Floyd are just timeless. I was fortunate and could watch them live in Portugal on their 1994 tour. Still have that experience well kept in my memory and heart. Great and lovely reaction 💞💞💞
You need to listen to the entire "The Wall" album. Start to finish, no breaks. It's a story, basically of Roger Waters life. Starts as a kid who's Dad went to war, then he grew up to be a rock star. It's an autobiography almost! It's the greatest album of all time!
I grew up with these classic bands! Loved all things Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin! There were several more, Moody Blues "In Search of The Lost Chord" was a wonderful "trippy" album experience. Just start at the beginning and go to the end! Also, Deep Purple was one of the early ones that we all loved. You can't go wrong with any or all of these and you would still have more to listen to again and again! Another reviewer said that he was jealous of my generation having such great music to live through. Believe me, we know!
You just became my #1 reactor brother!! The first person ever to react to this, without stopping/pausing...cudos to you sir....next on deck for you is Bob Seger!!!
I know this reaction was a few years ago but this is one of the best reactions to this song....because when I watch your facial expressions i can see you analyzing the structure of the song....you know music theory......really great, great reaction. what a treat......if you ever want to have another pair of socks knocked off, try Pink Floyd's "Dogs" 17 miinutes long but a journey that will change your life....don't believe me ? It's Pink Floyd....hear me now believe me later.
If your dad has Pink Floyd in vinyl, don't ever let them get out of the family. The greatest rock-n-roll band in it's purest recorded form. You will thank me for saying this in 30 years
This song is part of the album/movie The Wall. You need to watch/listen/feel all this together. Start at the beginning of the album and this song will make *much* more sense. Especially the noise at the beginning.
You need to listen to the Pulse concert version of this song. It's live and better than the studio version. Best guitar solo ever. You did a fantastic review. I love watching your appreciation for every element of the song. You have great passion for music. It elevates the song for me. Awesome. Subscribed.
i'm glad you like Pink Floyd. a few things to note. first, their line-up changed and so their music evolved. so expect to be surprised. next, they're even better live. those solos varied a lot, as David Gilmour improvised a lot in their concerts. thirdly, both Gilmour and the bass player/lyricist, Roger Waters, have solo careers. Gilmour is my favourite. his concerts and solo works are just awesome, with those exquisite guitar solos. they're an emotional ride. enjoy the journey.
So glad your enjoying Floyd! I know your going to love them they have hundreds of songs and not one is anything less than masterpiece! ❤️❤️❤️ you gonna love the song Time! Also if you want to listen to something that is like a warm hug that out you at ease listen to marooned by them!
Yes, first comment! Possibly one of the best songs ever and for sure best solo of all time. So much emotion and musical touch by PF. Love the dual vocals, glad u grooved on it
hey dude! i'll remind you again, since you enjoyed this guitar and this music complexity, "dogs" (and btw, thw whole Animals album) will blow not only your socks off, but also probably your toenails. you've been warned! :D edit: btw, whenever you listen to Pink Floyd or Led Zeppelin make sure you pull out the lyrics and put them in front of you. that is a must!
The following Pink Floyd albums are Concept Albums (all songs together tell a complete story)... Dark Side Of The Moon (1973), Wish You Were Here (1975), Animals (1977) and The Wall (1979); The Final Cut (1983) is a maybe, as it was the last album with Roger Waters being in the band. Final Note: Always listen to Pink Floyd with headphones or an awesome sounding music system. Ages in 2020: ---------------------------------------- Roger Waters - September 6, 1943 (age 77 years) David Gilmour - March 6, 1946 (age 74 years) Nick Mason - January 27, 1944 (age 76 years) Richard "Rick" Wright - July 28, 1943 (died 2008) Syd Barrett - January 6, 1946 (died 2006) .
You have to watch the 1994 live Pulse concert. It’ll give you a far better appreciation for how incredible this band is. David Gilmore’s solo is three times as long in this concert and the visuals of the light show are incredible. Back in the 70’s It took 15 semi trucks to haul of the gear that goes into putting on their show.
time by pf chronicles a lifetime of a person through song with a beginning heartbeat beautiful solo and ends with the next song the great gig in the sky -brace yourself
I'll jump on the bandwagon and echo what is being said here. Find the live version from the 'Pulse' live concert and soar to guitar solo heaven. You like many first time Comfortably Numb observers will have to make a trip to the sock drawer.
I know there are a LOT of people who believe you need drugs to experience Pink Floyd, and honestly - that IS its own unique experience - but this MUSIC - that's the only drug required. Enjoy & Welcome to the Party! #ForeverFloyd
This song is Holy Scripture to me. It's perhaps my favorite rock song of all time. Delve into the lyrics- Despite the relaxing vibe of the song, they're profoundly gut-wrenching. You won't REALLY make sense of it until you watch the movie, Pink Floyd's The Wall.
I think I came across you either last night or the night before and begged you to hear this and you Did! Yep! I'm a fan, but not for that. i have heard you sing and even though I only love listening to music I get that you UNDERSTAND music. I am not going anywhere anywhere, my friend. I am on your side. :) Get yourself hooked up so that you can show the videos of your your reviews playing live in the corner of your your screen and you will become even more popular. Somebody here can tell you how to do that (I, personally have no idea). I can tell you are just starting out, but I believe you WILL go far, my friend. I love you!
Completely agree with all the comments suggesting more Floyd. Much of what they did musically was groundbreaking. I bought the Ummagumma album on release, and never stopped listening to them. I've subscribed to your channel. While you're scanning around your dad's albums, see if he has an old WAR or two in there. You might give a hear on City Country City or Deliver the Word if you want a journey. All Day Music would be a perfect introduction to their sound and is short enough for a reaction vid.
You should listen to Time - which is the song that comes just before The Great Gig In The Sky. It is one of my favorite songs and well worth listening to.
Welcome to the amazing musical world of Pink Floyd. A band like no other, a sound like no other and a live show like no other. This is one of their best, but you must watch this live version from Pulse.
hello from Canada.Love your reactions. Remember that when this album came out we were sooooo high on weed and everyone had earphones. I am that old ha! You had better be making a very good living with that incredible voice of yours. would love it if you would add Angelina Jordan singing I put a spell on you to your list.
Pink Floyd isn't music...it's an experience. The only thing better than Pink Floyd is Pink Floyd live!!! Ck out whole albums, Floyd tends to be a band that does concept albums and the songs kinda flow together telling a story. You listen, we WILL watch. Floyd 🤘
this is one of those songs where YOU HAVE TO see and listen to the live version. pleeeeaaaase watch COMFORTABLY NUMB LIVE : PULSE 1994. you´ll experience the arguably greatest rockguitar solo in music history.
@@ThatSingerReactions and let us participate. it´s always a joy to watch people see the last 2 minutes of that live song :-) plus here´s a few tipps for your ongoing floyd journey: 1) shine on you crazy diamond (from album) 2) dark side of the moon (complete album, it´s a concept) 3) dogs (from album)
The best version is the very last Pink Floyd performance, Live 8 from 2005. Also check David Gilmour's solo performances, especially the Meltdown shows, and Remember That Night.

We rejoice in the fact that this human (David Gilmour) has magnificently achieved his soul's purpose! Powerful!
High Hopes - Marooned - Yet Another Movie. Three excellent songs by Pink Floyd
When I was a child, I caught a fleeting glimpse
Out of the corner of my eye
I turned to look but it was gone
I cannot put my finger on it now
The child is grown, the dream is gone
And I have become comfortably numb
I cannot put my finger on it now,
The child is grown, the dream is gone.
Roger Waters had a fever when he was a child and his hands did swell up like balloons
Most heart breaking rock lyrics ever

My friend, David Gilmour is one of the best emotionally charged guitar players on the planet.. His vocals are so crisp and clean. Fantastic band, especially live, which I've had the pleasure of witnessing..
He's gotta be my favourite electric guitarist ever. He can bring emotions out of me I didn't even know I was suppressing.

David Gilmour is the king of string bending. That's why all of his guitar leads are played with such deep emotion. That's enough to make you cry

Hard to believe that it's 40 years old, isn't it? 🎸
One could easily argue that David Gilmour is the most tasteful guitar player of all time... every note perfect for that particular moment...
You would win that argument every time.
In the comments, Everyone and their brother are gonna tell you to do The Pulse version of this one......everyone and their brother are right.
PULSE LIVE Version. David Gilmour in this guitar solo is the Best of all time solos. The light show is off the hook too and also!!
Not to mention.....that solo will be a lot longer.
100
I love to just listen and pick out every single instrument, the layering, my Lord! ( yes in the studio it was synth, but still, go back and listen to each and every string and horn, etc.)
No matter how many times I listen to this song that final solo always gives me chills. Especially when he hits those pinch harmonics
Sick reaction bro. You should 100% do a reaction to pink floyd comfortably numb pulse live. It's on another level. Trust! 👍
At Pink Floyd concerts, they place speakers to the side and behind the audience. The sound comes from everywhere and you are immersed into the music. I know there are a LOT of people who believe you need drugs to experience Pink Floyd, and honestly - that IS its own unique experience - but this MUSIC - that's the only drug required. Enjoy & Welcome to the Party! #ForeverFloyd
Yep. Waiting for Pulse.
This song is Holy Scripture to me. It's perhaps my favorite rock song of all time. Delve into the lyrics- Despite the relaxing vibe of the song, they're profoundly gut-wrenching. You won't REALLY make sense of it until you watch the movie, Pink Floyd's The Wall.
nice man, love to see you react to Time, another great track from these geniuses.
I think I came across you either last night or the night before and begged you to hear this and you Did!
Yep! I'm a fan, but not for that. i have heard you sing and even though I only love listening to music I get that you UNDERSTAND music.
I am not going anywhere anywhere, my friend. I am on your side. :)
Get yourself hooked up so that you can show the videos of your your reviews playing live in the corner of your your screen and you will become even more popular. Somebody here can tell you how to do that (I, personally have no idea). I can tell you are just starting out, but I believe you WILL go far, my friend.
I love you!
Remember kids this solo was recorded using a 1956 Gibson Les Paul Gold Top with P90s he might use a Strat live but this is a Les Paul....
Wish I could have seen this with you seeing the lyrics for the first time!!!
The live version from The Pulse tour in 1994. Best guitar solo ever.
You should listen to Time - which is the song that comes just before The Great Gig In The Sky. It is one of my favorite songs and well worth listening to.
Welcome to the amazing musical world of Pink Floyd. A band like no other, a sound like no other and a live show like no other. This is one of their best, but you must watch this live version from Pulse.
beach ...waves mood like this got me thinking of
Roger Hodgson - Only Because Of You
Dude keep doing Pink Floyd I think you’re on the verge of greatness with channel man. You really listen to the song and feel it. Good job bro
hello from Canada.Love your reactions.
Floyd 🤘
Have a listen to "Dogs" off the "Animals" album.
Yesssss deep for me....lyrics wise :)
this is one of those songs where YOU HAVE TO see and listen to the live version. pleeeeaaaase watch COMFORTABLY NUMB LIVE : PULSE 1994. you´ll experience the arguably greatest rockguitar solo in music history.
I will for sure :)
Loved your reaction.
Do more Pink Floyd reactions,
My favorite Pink Floyd song...puts me in my feelings every time😢
Considered by almost everyone as one of the top 3 guitar solos of all time - check out the live at Pulse version for the extended solo version :)
The best version is the very last Pink Floyd performance, Live 8 from 2005. Also check David Gilmour's solo performances, especially the Meltdown shows, and Remember That Night.
So much to listen to here, even the album "The Final Cut" is amazing
