One may not simply walk into Mordor, but can they die on the edge of it, be resurrected bound to a ghost, then go on a revenge spree throughout Mordor?
As much as I want a BFME3, I guess this will be a buy... AC gameplay in LOTR? Hell yes. Too bad it's not Gimli who's climbing and doing all those jumps.
POTTERANDMATRIXFAN Oh man, don't even get me started with BFME3. BFME2 is proably one of my favorite games of ALL TIME. Absolutely fantastic RTS game. They don't make games of that caliber anymore if you ask me...
Im interested in how this game will end and how it will fit into the universe, besides that Im looking forward to playing this game if they even follow through with half of what they are promising. This game is looking awesome so far.
This really seems almost too good to actually be true. From what we've seen, the game actually look kinda awesome, but the whole nemsesis thing is probably going to be a lot less in depth than it appears to be.
It is confirmed that the nemesis system will be have to be reduced in quality for the last gen systems. The PS4 and Xbox One however, will have the full capability due to their hardware.
+Ozzyrocker45 I was sad how every uruk didn't have those unique attributes but instead only captains did. Either way they did a phenomenal job on it. I'm hoping more games in the future will adopt this feature.
Mohamed Ghita they have the "wights" in the barrows ie the barrowwights which are not the same thing as ring wraiths, they also have the army of the dead in the paths of the dead and the dead lights/beings/bodies in the dead marshes. There are many opportunities that can be explored and the concept of a wraith being created due to an evil/horroble occurance has already been set in the tolkein lore without the use of rings to create them. Just my 5 cents.
Mohamed Ghita Just because you want it to be bad does not mean it will be. And exploring all of Middle Earth will even bring a next gen console to its limits - don't come with skyrim now, please. Middle Earth is a hundred times bigger than skyrim
It seems that this is one of those "too good to be true" things. I doubt all of these features will be in the game, or at least not to the extend they claim they will be.
agreed been let down lately by developers and its happening more and more that the footage that they release like this often is nothing like what the actually game is when it finally comes out
Honestly I bought it and it does have the freedom and everything in here. Plus it's a great story and pretty much all you do is slay orcs. But it can be challenging at times.
@Mohamed Ghita ik this was 5 years ago but im still ganna respond lol. I dont see how it's an AC rip off. Its not a rip off of anything, because it is based on LotR. This feels alot like the ps2/xbox games that came out way before AC.
That would be a great bonus, but what i'm really wanting is customization. I hope you get to choose or upgrade armor and weapons, or something similar. Probably won't have shops and towns though, since it's set in the heart of Mordor lol
***** Skill trees are supposed to be in the game, one for ranger which focuses on your human combat skills and one for wraith which focuses on your magical abilities
The only 'problem' I see with the game is being able to have every single possibilty and outcome coded/rendered to show, like having a certain orc assassinate a certain target or which orcs are where when you go after a 'boss'.
So assassin's creed and prototype fusion? Seems epic enough
10 років тому+1
Come on guys, this game looks completely different from what we ever played, just because its an open-world and AC combat mode doesn't mean it will be disappointing.. idk, the plot its nice, i really wanted to see others factions but this specific game is not focused on that, they're getting to a separate storyline and I think thats fine!.. i am really excited about whats coming, and I think it will be great! im definitely buying it!
I love how everyone here ignores one of the finer part's, the story is being handled by the guy whom wrote Red Dead Redemption. That man made a game that made me cry at its ending, and there are few games which are capable of that.
Doesnt look like AC to me. Just because u can parry and need to dodge attacks doesnt make it a clone. Many games make u block or dodge like Dark Souls which is nothing like AC. Also why not use an engine thats proven to work? There will be tons of games that use this engine in the near future. Some of u might wana look up the definition of a clone because a couple similarities does not equal a clone. A clone means theres no difference. Theres a pretty big difference between this and AC. Ive played A LOT of AC lately due to the fact that there just isnt much else on ps4 yet and I dont see AC in this.
It looks more like an expanded AC to me. Aspects like combat and parkour are similar, but the wraith system, nemisis system, dynamic encounters, leveling system, and focus on living world make it unique. I'll be picking it up for sure, because as a fan of the AC games myself, this seems to fill many gaps where the AC games left me wanting more.
So any game that has parkour in it has to be a AC clone? Ubisoft invented parkour? That means "Dying Light" and "Mirrors Edge" are AC clones as well even though they are nothing alike. But since they have parkour in it they have to be AC clones. Good logic lol.
I noticed a page on IGN about this where an AC2 dev guy came out and said he recognized assets from AC and that he worked on em, I'm not sure if he really did or not but it does kinda look like a reskinned AC, that said I'm really excited for this, it looks like an awesome concept
the best way i see this fitting in with the other LOTR and Hobbit stuff is this war inbetween delays the eventual invasion from mordor so this is not so much connected but shows that sauron has tried before and possibly(hopefully) fails
So this video isn't entirely accurate, Talion is a ranger, but he's not a ranger like Aragorn. Aragorn is ranger of the north, last remnant of the Dúnedain and the protectors of the line of Elendil(Isildur's heir, i.e.Aragorn) and they were charged with preserving the line of succession for the throne and with secretly portecting Eriador, and area of land that includes the Shire, the Rangers of Gondor however were as the name suggests, gondorian troops who were charged with protecting Gondor and defending it's border with Mordor, not overly important but worth mentioning
One thing I learned is that when you attack an Orc - 50 will come out of nowhere. That and their terrified screams of Caragor's. That was always a good source of humour. 'It's a Caragor!'
Same writer as red dead am solid. You can just see that heart breaking ending now. I don't know anything about Lord of the Rings, but any story where the main baddie is alive in future installments never end well.
I personally don't think it's anything like AC,but I have to admit that a few things did REMIND me of AC. Such as the combat, the rope that connected the buildings, the parkour, and the wraith vision thing, which reminds me a bit of eagle vision. Plus, with the word assassinate being seen, I couldn't help but think of AC... I'm just saying. you can't say that while watching this video you didn't even think of AC at all, because anyone watching this that has played AC definitely thought of AC at one point during this video.
I love it...i cant wait for it to come out..according to amazon its got the $50 price tag..i just hope this comes out soon this will be up there with watch dogs and assassins creed. And its a sandbox!! My favorite type of game
Hmm, well I have yet to play a LotR game, that I have enjoyed. Almost all of them so far have been a flop. While it looks like this a lot of potential and I hope it can fulfill on it to.
When people are talking about it looking like AC they are talking about the fact that the animations of Talion climbing walls and such are the exact same as Assassins Creed II. Watch the full gameplay video and you'll see what I'm talking about if you've played ACII. Although it still has the exact same climbing animations I still can't wait for this game. It looks awesome and I want to experiment with the nemeses system.
God, I think it's awesome that you cam take over orc's minds...And are we really going to run into Gollum, amd will this be based on the ring? I'm guessing yes, since I saw Saurun.
Don't know how to link anything so just gonna type it out. Middle-earth: Shadows of Mordor gameplay video and interview - E3. If ya haven't watched it yet, you should. Answered alot of questions for me. Interviewer was very into lore, and what/where the story had to do with it.
Thomas Jørgensen honestly its not a ripoff of anything... just because it has similarities with other games means nothing. if the was a case then doom was a ripoff of wolfenstein
simplejack891 Yeah I don't think it's a ripoff at all. Don't see why they are getting hate for that. Just because the fighting is inspired by a common mechanic nowadays in games does not make it a ripoff for fuck sake!
>Studio contests there are no resemblances to Assassin's Creed >The word 'Assassination' littered everywhere in-game, when Talion's not a fucking 'assassin'. That's what pisses people off.
I have not really seen a game with "true" freedom. The trailers always says "Oh you can do this and that." In this case, its letting loose dangerous beasts upon your foes. Now we cant discover that ourselves and some trailers say "use the enviroment to your advantage" but what they really mean is blow up explosive barrels. Dark Souls is a game where we were not told a single word of where we were supposed to go or what we would do, just throw us into a hostile world to our death. Look upon Dark Soulds, developers and learn from it.
***** you can also poison grog and stealth brand to get ready to attack a base and the stealth isn't that bad. You are hiding from orcs who we know aren't the smartest people in the world.
I have a great hype and expectations from this game. As far as I have seen it looks really cool. I was waiting this since fellowship of the ring so dont let me down Monolith
Coming to PS4 in 2014 I read?? I hope that is true, this looks like it could be a lot of fun. I am really digging the way the combat mechanics look, I just hope that they feel as good!
imagine a skyrim style lord of the rings sticking to the lore and with graphics similar to assassins creed black flag. I would happily pay £200 for such a game
MarkaNLNL So you wanna stick to what is accepted in the gaming industry? This is progress, a new type of mechanic introduced in a game unique from any other.
ppl loved RYSE and that sir is a cinematic game to the fullest which sucked and put XBOX one in a hole.they just showed what ppl wanna see and thank god its something that wont be overly repetitive
They should make another game like this, except you can explore all of arda. Arda=all of tolkiens universe, I think. Basically I mean you can explore places like the Undying lands, Numenor, and Utumno.
I am looking forward to this game - it looks beautiful and I like what I see of the combat and abilities. The nemesis system sounds great as well, really adds a unique method of playing instead of the same-old 'kill this guy and that guy' like they do in Assassins Creed. I just hope it has a decent story as well, not just a 'I want revenge with my new powers' sort of thing.
This game looks good. It sounds cool too and it seems different which is something we need. And with the writer from red dead redemption it should have a good story. I hope it does good and is a great game bc I love this universe.
That would be cool if Talion and the wraith play a part from the shadows in taking down Sauron and the Ring. Like maybe, aside from Aragorn and the others going to the gate to draw out the orc forces to clear the way for Sam and Frodo, there would have been even more orcs if not for Talion thinning their numbers out and causing chaos in their ranks.
I bought the game 6 days ago, already beat it. I was hoping you could restart the game after beating it and hold on to some of the upgrades/or make the second playthorugh tougher with new upgrades available. No such luck. I did have fun playing it and I'm glad I bought it, there are many small things in the gameplay that were annoying, not referring to controls or accessability, but things like killing the final bosses. You spend the whole game upgrading your character's health, maximum arrows, focus, and kill-ability, but the last 2 bosses require none of that to be beaten. One just needs you to stealth drain him 4 times and he's dead. the final; boss you literally hit 3 different buttons in a kill scene moment and hes defeated. game over I would still enjoy replaying it from the beginning again, but i wish there was more to it
I didn't know humans tried to settle on mordor when sauron was away. Did this really happened in the books or did they just add this to make mordor more interesting?
Playing as an Orc spunds so much more exciting than playing as the human. Why cant they just make a game where you can play as Mordor's forces rather than the good side. That would make for great fun and story telling.
they have made a game like that. Lord of the rings Conquest. You can play as the good side and/or the bad side. On the bad side you can play as the fucking Nazgul and the Balrog
I don't know about that. Orcs are pretty cowardly and as for storytelling they're also pretty one-dimensional. "Kill all the things, rarr." They make good obstacles for heroes to overcome, that's about it. Buuut if you have Medieval 2: Total War you can download the Third Age mod and play as Mordor or Isengard. Although it's pretty old/a grand strategy game so it may not be up your alley. And Conquest was not the greatest. It was like Battlefront for LOTR, but just not anywhere near as good. That's just my opinion.
Is this a type of game u can pick up and play ? i mean it looks awesome and fun but iv never payed attention to lord of the rings .-. so would it be trick to get the story?
Middlearth is probably larger than Tamriel. And skyrim is about 27% of Tamriel mass... so PS4 and XBONE might be able to do it... but not until developers decide they need to make a new game
Ramathorn actually i think its a lot larger than Tamriel.I am not very aware of Tamriel's size but Middle earth is huge.I mean the distance between the westest (i think thats how its called) part of middle earth and Rivendell which is about in the middle of Middle earth (lel) is 600-700 miles.
Antonis Agapakis I know, I said it was bigger. Might have said Probably, but still. they could minimize it slightly, I'm sure if a book was written about just skyrim, it would take 6 days to reach Iverstead, then to climb the throat of the world probably 2 days.
I enjoyed BFME and RotK, but every other lotr game has sucked for me. This one isnt even getting my interest: Orcs are not what makes MiddleEarth interesting, and being stuck in Mordor the whole time is just depressing, same snviroments I'm assuming. Ill keep watching beceause the looks to have some potential... I just hopethey focus less on orcs and talion.
Aaron McNamara I hope eventually a gaming companing realizes this and can make a lotr game we all want. An immersive, open-world RPG where we can see memorable and recognizable locations in Middle-Earth. Not an MMO though. If only they didn't order that Middle-Earth Skyrim mod to shut down...
CreativeUsernameEh That mod wouldn't have worked anyway; I'm pretty sure one of the devs posted saying that the map they were making was too big for skyrim to even handle :/ so even then middle earth wouldn't have been delivered to the extent we all want. That being said, hopefully game devs can work with next gen consoles and push them to their limits so we get a decent, wholly open-world sandbox middle earth game. Nevertheless, I'm looking forward to this one (I'm undoubtedly a product of the system, a sucker for anything with the lotr label on it)
Aaron McNamara Actually the gameplay previews show Mordor being more life like with green fields, clear waters and possibly forests. I have 2 theories on why this is. 1. Gondor is trying to colonize and settle in Mordor and are sprucing things up. When Sauron is finished re-settling and re-building it'll once again be a barren wasteland of ash and dust. 2. Mordor is not all a barren wasteland of ash and dust. I mean we only see the areas surrounding the Black Gate, Bara'dur and Mount Doom. If you look at a Middle Earth Map, you'll see Mordor has plenty of areas away from the places I've mentioned.
Aaron McNamara I got the game informer for this and according to that there are various different mountains, plains, and valleys. Sauron and his forces have been gone for a long time so this has allowed foliage to grow back. It is still Mordor but not quite as depressing.
You forget one thing. one does not simply walk into mordor
Unless the person already is in mordor...
One does simply parkour into Mordor
What if you stab your way in?
Mordor aint shit... try walking into walmart on black Friday...
Yeah you do... You totally do.
If you fuck up: be prepared for 20-30 guys to chase you. 😂
but...one does not simply walk into mordor :P
***** Well, technically he was guided into Mordor and almost died just getting in.

They don't make games of that caliber anymore if you ask me...
what if you toss him xD
one does not simply 'walk' into Mordor
Ha ha ha! Yeah I hope their title is intentional.
Im interested in how this game will end and how it will fit into the universe, besides that Im looking forward to playing this game if they even follow through with half of what they are promising. This game is looking awesome so far.
what is the point in this video, you just repeat everything that is said in the video in a different way to make it seem like you came up with it?
Essentially yes....and it works.
Same writer as Red Dead?! Sold.
He was also the /lead designer/ on Red Dead :D
This really seems almost too good to actually be true. From what we've seen, the game actually look kinda awesome, but the whole nemsesis thing is probably going to be a lot less in depth than it appears to be.

@@slothjon1960 still shadow of war is better. Im really bad at games so im actually glad it's only captains that have the traits.
This looks so different from the finished product
true
Please, PLEASE, don't fuck this up!
Mohamed Ghita Why? What happened?
Mohamed Ghita A Wraith is not the same thing as a Ringwraith.
Mohamed Ghita they have the "wights" in the barrows ie the barrowwights which are not the same thing as ring wraiths, they also have the army of the dead in the paths of the dead and the dead lights/beings/bodies in the dead marshes.

darksorcerermusic Actually, in a sense, the Barrow Wights are Wraiths, being that they are the corrupted spirits of deceased Dunadain.

Alex Riesel yeah I was pleasantly surprised to find this game to be as triple A as it was hyped up to be
I was skeptical at first but it was a great buy. When I heard it was like bat man and assassin's creed I was ecstatic
like what
Will everyone stop this assassins creed debait just dont buy it if its that much of a problem

The LEGO ones are OK?
I know right

lol, no... you just don´t get it.
MarkaNLNL In my humble opinion, the nemesis system, is a brilliant thing, it also opens up a door for even more ideas/possibilities in future games
B...but...but one does not simply walks into Mordor...
the gameplay system is like the batman games!! nice
This game looks perfect, but I just want it to be hundreds of hours long at least
They should make another game like this, except you can explore all of arda.
Arda=all of tolkiens universe, I think. Basically I mean you can explore places like the Undying lands, Numenor, and Utumno.
Please dont let this suck, we havent had a good lord of the rings game since battle for middle earth: rise of the witch king.
I just pre ordered it today, I hope it's as good as it seems
Dat wraith power.
Fucking badass.
I wanna see an Ewoks game based on the Ewoks movie.
That movie fucking sucks lol
DEEZ NUTTZ PS3 graphics
this game will be badass, watch
I would like to know more about the character customization. I wonder if it would be limitless like the ME trilogy or elder scrolls.
Y did they change Sri much of the gameplay when it got released what i just watch looked even better
I am super-hyped for this game!
It's funny because you never fight or brand ratbag.
QUESTION: Is this a RPG game with open world ?!
Finally a game about Rangers the bad asses of Middle-Earth!(i know word of it came a long time ago but i wanna make my opinion public)
I've been loving this game
4 YEARS AGO IS SHADOW OF MORDOR LUKING LIKE THAT (I LIKE IT)
This game looks good. It sounds cool too and it seems different which is something we need. And with the writer from red dead redemption it should have a good story. I hope it does good and is a great game bc I love this universe.
I think Talion is an Ithilien Ranger rather than a Dunedain ranger(like Aragorn)
Anybody think that this game's story line will actually lead to the destruction of the on ring and we get to take part in the books' story ?
One just needs you to stealth drain him 4 times and he's dead. the final; boss you literally hit 3 different buttons in a kill scene moment and hes defeated. game over
I would still enjoy replaying it from the beginning again, but i wish there was more to it
Ikr!
matt susman Ok the 3 buttons thing is not true and you know that....
I didn't know humans tried to settle on mordor when sauron was away. Did this really happened in the books or did they just add this to make mordor more interesting?
There's a lake, or ocean, or whatever in Mordor that humans did settle around. So yes, they did.
This game looks AMAZING
damn ... looks freaking nice
hoping for a cliff hanger at the end so there are chances of a second one
Wait...did they just say Monolith is developing this game? I'm confused if they are, I'm pretty sure Nintendo owns them.
Is this a type of game u can pick up and play ? i mean it looks awesome and fun but iv never payed attention to lord of the rings .-. so would it be trick to get the story?
i hope they will have dlc content which will extend the game to other parts of middleearth.
Just bought the game I'm wondering is there any multiplayer or whatever
not really but you may see vengeance missions which let you take revenge on the orcs who killed other players in other games
A Middle Earth skyrim like game is what everybody needs
Talion is not a ranger like Aragorn. Aragorn is of the North.
I see a little bit of AC in this. So is this game already out? I heard it was and wasn't so i'm not sure.
Not out yet, but they've shown a gameplay trailer... before the actual trailer (which is out now) later in 2014 probably.
Alright thanks :3
Please god let this be good, to wash the taste of war in the north out of my mouth
Assassin of the Rings!
mordor asylum
I enjoyed BFME and RotK, but every other lotr game has sucked for me. This one isnt even getting my interest: Orcs are not what makes MiddleEarth interesting, and being stuck in Mordor the whole time is just depressing, same snviroments I'm assuming. Ill keep watching beceause the looks to have some potential... I just hopethey focus less on orcs and talion.
I would also love to visit cities like Laketown, Erebor, Osgiliath and such, even if not for fighting just for sightseeing.
Nevertheless, I'm looking forward to this one (I'm undoubtedly a product of the system, a sucker for anything with the lotr label on it)
Aaron McNamara
Actually the gameplay previews show Mordor being more life like with green fields, clear waters and possibly forests.
They are not ORCS!!! They are Uruks!
Oh (slowly backs a way)
I wish the full game was just like this but it’s not I want two skill trees or an overlord in the first game that’s way better than how it is now
I just hope the game wont be a cake walk.
This.is.gonna.be.epic.
It look's really promising.
Oh just how much Shadow of Mordor changed
