Hey Randi! I just passed by this video looking for reviews about the leuchtturm learning journal and I must say, superb review and testing! It's the first time I saw a channel really go through serious testing on paper! I love this review! Subbed and will wait for more! (Maybe you can do a review of the learning journal?) And what inks did you use here?
Thank you for doing this video! I was just looking at this journal in preparation for a camping trip this summer-I did NOT want to risk my Hobonichi journals getting ruined in the damp forest climate. I also wasn't sure what kind of pen would be best, so I especially appreciate the pen test portion of the video. It was a bit hard to tell in the footage, but were there one or two gel pens that you felt survived the water test the best? Thanks again!
Oh yeah, I’d imagine a lot of water exposure would really change the pages of the Hobonichi notebooks to be extra crinkly and crunchy straight away, which isn’t ideal for everyone. This notebook holds up a lot better! The Pentel Energel Permanent did a great job at sticking to the page and also staying extremely black. Also, I forgot to test out the Zebra Sarasa Clip 0.5mm, but I’d bet that pen would do amazing on here. I once had a planner sitting in a 24oz puddle inside one of my bags (big oops 🤦🏻♀️) but the writing stayed pristine! I’ll do a water test for that pen soon!
I love the suggestion of using it as a traveling notebook. We do a ton of national parks and this would be great for an on the go journal and memory keeper!
Great review. OMG. What a sensational notebook. (BTW - you have the loveliest handwriting I've ever seen.) Thank you.
OMG !!! The way you write is great!!!
Maybe for the water test for a journal intended for use out in the open air you could use a spray bottle, like a plant mister say, to be like rain.
Oh that would have been a good demo. Thank you for that suggestion! 😊
I randomly came across this video, and it was so calming and chill. Definitely subscribing! 💚
Thank you and thanks so much for watching! 😊💘
Pen sizes really are like clothing aren’t they? 0.5mm is so different between some brands/ink types/tip types etc. Wild. 🤣
Omg I never thought of it that way but yes 😂😂
Wow, this girl is writing in a cool Font, wtf, this is an amazing skill
What is the size of the dot grids?
Walden green is such a lovely name for a lovely color
I agree!

The learning journal is really good, the layout works well especially if learning a new subject,
Omg the destroyed swatch pages broke my heart. Please tell me you redid them!
I didn’t 😅 but I know whipping up another swatch page will be in my near future so I’ll definitely share it!

@@randidotplans Thank you so much! I'm looking forward to watching the second video you posted this week!

Oh yes!! Plus this size is really portable yet so spacious across 2 pages. Sounds like it could be the perfect companion.
I wish I could mail you all my notebooks so that you could do this pen test in them for me 🤯❤️😔🥺
Test should have included writing on wet paper.
Thanks anyways!
