      I completely understand and agree with Ned Flanders. I hate the post office too. Post office workers in my city are too stupid, arrogant and the customer service is THE WORST!

      @@Moscoviya2009 ... You can't understand and agree, if your problem with the Post Office is the complete opposite of Ned's lmao. Ned dislikes how efficient and no-nonsense the Postal Service can be at times.
      As for your issues with them, I'm sure they dislike you too :). That tends to be the relationship between customer service and customers. Comes with the territory.

      In the golden era of the Simpsons, even though Homer viewed Ned as his least favorite neighbor in many ways, he also respected him as a human at times. There was a limit to how mean he could be before realizing that at some point, Ned is still a real person. The writing was a lot more subtle and creative back then.

      Seriously? I hate my mother because she disciplines me! Sure my father doesn't always want or know what's best for me but that's fine with me because I know what's best for me and he lets me do them without any scolding or punishment whatsoever. My mother on the otherhand thinks she knows what's best for me but the truth is I'm getting everything she wants and is forcing me to have them and do them. And if I ever do something for myself and she doesn't approve of it she'll punish me for it! I hate her for it!

      plus remember that time when Ned accidentally spilled ink over his fathers poems and his father said that he was taking them straight to squares ville. I get the feeling it means they made him feel awful for every mistake.

    What I like is that this episode explicitly states Flanders’ “diddly”s are him expressing anger. Specifically because of how often he greets people with, say, “hi diddly ho” or whatever he says.
    Imagine a motherfucker coming up to you and saying “Hi. Fuck you.”

    0:17 Homer's actually right about Ned being afraid of being human and that sometimes humans can be assholes that hate at least ome thing. It's one of his smartest moments.

      That makes me think he is also scared by Dr. Foster. That guy beat a little child for 8 months and further traumatised it so that it couldn’t express his feelings anymore. His trainee being scared of him shows that Dr. Foster is probably a horrible person that reigns through fear and intimidation.

    I hate the post office, too. I was waiting for a registered letter, but I didn't get any -- three days later I got a notification that they were not able to deliver me any mail in person. The note came with the address of the post office where the letter is. So I went for a five mile walk in driving rain to pick up my letter, and they said they said: We don't do mail on Mondays. I said: Then why does it say: "Monday to Friday 8 AM to 6:30 PM" on the note? The guy said: That's just our opening hours.

      @@rambo8863 That particular post office sells stamps, post cards and supplies for packing packages on Mondays, and I noticed that packages and envelopes were brought in through the back door, but they told me they only store the stuff.

    I agree with Homer. If Flanders would show some anger, Homer would respect him.
    And as a kid, I was bitten by mosquitos a lot. How he could enjoy them is just plain weird.

    I hate my parents too, nothing wrong with that really so as long as you don't use your hatred to hurt them or others. Sometimes people just have shitty parents and being obligated and/or pressured to love someone is not only narcissitic but highly toxic.

      Ned is the type to bottle up his anger until it explodes. In the case with the church, Homer acted so clingy throughout the episode, Ned was past ready to snap at that point.

      Honestly homer snoring in church is what I feel like everyone would do if they truly wanted to because sometimes the church is soo slow in their speeches that your eyes wander off then get sleepy because of how bored you are or at least how your mind is feeling instead you try to stay awake or your parents will shake you awake instead of sleeping.

    Why do I remember this differently?
    I remember Homer bringing up the parents while trying to come up with something for Ned to hate, thinking if Ned loves everything he couldn’t possibly hate them - And then Ned getting angry as all fuck and giving exposition to Homer that was quickly interrupted because there was already exposition earlier.

      Think it was because he was able to slowly and logically explain the hatred. You can explain what you find an annoyance. Real hatred tends to be deeper and more personal.
