The forward tandem od Larry Bird and Kevin McHale is arguably the greatest ever.
There is a reason why Chuck said McHale was the best player he played against. His post game was elite.
I agree, with what he said about Walton and Bird playing on the same team, then McHale, Parrish, then the rest of the team and the great bench, it was way unfair to the rest of the league. When a team has a high desire to win, and is full of talent, and skill, and all are unselfish, it is going to win and be great fun to watch play their game.
DJ was a very good passer. Anyone could feed McHale in the post. It was the other spots where Bird would find him or set him up off a shot fake or drive.

Ryan was always partial to McHale. He even wrote a piece in 1987 that was titled "Better Than Bird." McHale was NEVER better than Bird, even in 87, because McHale wouldn't have been free to do a lot of those individual moves had Bird not been getting him the ball in his spots, and had Bird not drawn so much defensive attention away from him. McHale would not have had the HOF career that he had if it weren't for Bird.
Kevin gets much accolades and video footage of plays he makes ..... LARRY LEGEND not so - there the title becomes misleading and disappointing in that oversight.
