Victor and Mia have the makings of a beautiful friendship. I know there are some people who ship them romantically, but I think Victor as a character has made his feelings pretty clear... he likes boys, and only boys (I’m not discouraging anyone from shipping against canon, I am only saying that Mia and Victor as endgame seems very unlikely at this point.) Watching all of these fanedits and reactions on UA-cam has had me thinking about a world where Victor arrived in Atlanta with his sexuality figured out. Victor could come out to Lake and Mia on the first day of school, and he and Mia wouldn’t be sent hurtling down a doomed path destined to end in pain and heartbreak. Victor asks Benji to go on the Ferris wheel at the Winter Carnival - Benji agrees, but lets him down gently, telling him that he has a boyfriend. Victor still gets a job at Brassworks to pay for basketball, and he and Benji still bond as coworkers and become friends. Victor and Benji go on the work trip to Willacoochee, but Victor is in no hurry to get back to Atlanta - he doesn’t have plans with Mia, because she isn’t his girlfriend. Therefore, the repairman is no rush to fix the espresso machine - forcing Victor and Benji to stay the night in Willacoochee. I don’t know if Victor and Benji kiss. Victor is comfortable with his sexuality, so he is less likely to act on impulse, but he is also very attracted to Benji. I would like to believe that the close quarters would force Victor to have a frank conversation with Benji about his feelings. At a certain point, Benji is going to have to finally become fed up with feeling anxious around Derek all the time. And now that he knows how Victor feels about him, he can’t help but think about how his current relationship is lacking. Benji breaks up with Derek and he and Victor get together. This AU becomes more and more far-fetched the further we get from the point of delineation (Victor knowing he is gay upon arriving at Creekwood), but I think it goes to show how things could have maybe played out if the world was a little less shitty, and Victor wasn’t so restricted by heteronormativity that it took him until age 16 to figure himself out. I respect the canon Victor’s journey, and understand why he made all of the choices he did. But imagining how these characters could have interacted in more inclusive world really puts into perspective for me the kind of ridiculous pressure the world placed on Victor, and I like to imagine, just for a little while, what would have happened if that pressure didn’t exist, or at the very least was lessened so that Victor could start over in Atlanta with a much clearer picture of who he is and how he feels.

Okay I personally feel so sad for Mia !!! She is super kind, smart and gentle ! And courageous with what she had to go through in her life ... And Victor just cheated on her ... and I know he was confused and he needed to figured it out but for me he secretly knew... he just didn't want to admit he was gay ... he was lying to himself and unintentionally using Mia . And at the same time I understand that Victor was so scared of being gay and rejections and he was lost .... All I'm saying is that Mia really didn't deserve that Victor cheat on her .. And Victor could have handle the situation better, he broke her heart and people seem to forget that when Victor kissed Benji, I mean yeah that was cool that they kissed but poor Mia ! ... she just deserves a little bit more of attention for me!^^ ( I know this show is centered about being gay and figured out yourself and Mia is already present a lot season one but this is so sad for her so I needed to tell it and give her credit ! :) ) I hope in season two they can fix that and be friends because their relation was beautiful !! I also hope that she’ll still talk to him about her problems and I just hope in the end everything is okay between them. I’m so excited to see what happens in season 2 and I hope we’ll get to see Simon again and his friends.

I think it would have been cool if he turn out to be bi and in a relationship with a girl because it shows he can be bi but in a relationship with a girl and that doesnt erase his bi-ness, but I think it's also important for there to be stories where the main character is confused with their own sexuality because for many it's not that simple. I think this was a really important story to have out there. I think both are so I would have been fine if it turned either way.

Ok I'll say it: I never got why Mia is supposedly such a catch, except that the students say she is. Most of the time she has no personality, and when she does it's usually not a very nice one. And I know it's cruel to say, but she's not even that pretty. Maybe the writers didn't want us to root for her to make it easier to accept Benji/Victor?
