For anyone who would like to book a half hour of my time via phone call I’ve set up a service here square.site/book/88KEHKJNE3KJQ/green-akers-pest-control-llc I also have an amazon page here www.amazon.com/shop/greenakerspestcontrolllc where you can find everything I use and more!
This was really helpful. I live in NYC, so, enough said. Been here almost five years and still haven’t gotten use to the pests, but at least I know exactly what to use to seal them out. Thank you!
This has been very helpful to me. Trying to do this on my own and didn't know much about mice. I live in an old house and don't have the money for an exterminator. Thank you very much. This video was truly informative.
Wow!! These are excellent points! So glad I know now that I need to kill the mice first before sealing any cracks or holes with wool pads! I live in an old house and they keep coming through the attic. Extremely helpful! Thank you!
Thank you for such a long and very informative video about mice. I really appreciate learning all of that information. I'm going outside tomorrow and will be walking around the perimeter of my house with a pen. I knew they could fit through small openings, but didn't realize they could get through that small. I have issues with mice in the house right now, and I just want to stop them from coming in. I've already found two main spots they are getting in, but they keep chewing through whatever I stuff there. I recently got some copper mesh, and I'm hoping it'll work as nicely as your steel wool. I've got a cat for the inside mice, and she's pretty good at getting them, considering she lost all but two teeth....lol. She gums them to death, I think. But she enjoys hunting, teeth or not. I am subscribing to your channel, I love the longer videos people post filled with valuable information....I hate the short videos that cut information and leave you guessing. Thanks again for all the information. ☺️
This was very, very helpful! It was also great to see the type of Steel Wool you use, I was going to purchase the expensive kind. I need to fill the gaps between the washer / the wall and the dryer and wall in my apartment. I found all the holes but they were using the dryer vents to hide and escape. Thank you very much!
Thank you! This was very informative. My house is very old and it's hard to keep mice out for good. I have hired a pest control company but no mice seem to be getting caught. I'm going crazy dealing with this.
Any update 3 yrs later? I'm in the same boat. Exterminator was useless, nothing got caught but used steel wool. What was ur outcome? Or are you still dealing with these critters?
Thanks so much for the tips! Wish I had run across your video sooner. We live in an RV full time for a year now, first year never had a mouse. This year because it has gotten super cold and windy where we are at, they come inside to escape the cold. I do keep food covered up and clean and sweep the RV like crazy every night, but they get in to avoid the cold and wind. We captured one female mouse and had only seen one, and I unfortunately made the mistake you were talking about not to do. There were more than just her, we just didn't see or catch them in time and they avoided the traps once she was caught. I was so impatient and didnt wait to kill or search for others in the RV, went ahead and sealed out more from coming inside with steel wool and spray foam, and you are right have to contend with killing previous mice inside while it's sealed off from leaving outside. Great tips on how to use steel wool effectively! Now I know how to ruff it up for next time when sealing off my next new home.
I live in a manufactured home, and I know most of my mice are getting in by way of the skirting. I need to plug the holes especially in back where my air conditioner pipe goes in. There's a gap around that and I wonder if there is a low cost way to seal that so they can't get in? This video is very helpful!
Currently fighting this battle. How did the steel wool work for you? We are currently renovating ours. We've stripped the places we know they are coming in down to the studs (bathroom and kitchen). I can't believe how big some of the holes inside of the walls are...
I am so upset with my husband he is a contractor and he has built house like there’s no tomorrow every single client love him bc he is so committed to his word and contracts, now! My house!!! He always have postponed doing maintenance and now I got 🐁 🐁 🐁 in my house. I am going to follow your advice. Ps As I am writing this comment I just saw a son of a gun walking by near me 🤬😡
Mice only need a quarter inch hole to fit through to get into your house. Even the best contractor can miss a hole that size. Don’t shoot the husband and blame the pest control guy lol
Hi, great video, however, when you use steel wool outside, it rusts. I tried using stainless steel scrubbing pads so I hope they work. What do you think about that product? Thank you and have a Blessed week! David
The rusting issue is something I do struggle with but you can place the steel wool deeper into the wall then caulk over the steel wool and that will help. SOS Pads don’t work to keep out mice
I've had issues with mice off and on for year's but I can't afford $600 for a pest control guy to come in and basically put traps down like I am doing. The problem is that now they are getting on my counters which has never been an issue. What can I do? I've tried steel wool, and expanding foam, different traps etc.
Hello Jason. We are have a problem on our apartment building - bed bugs. Watched a ton of your videos , thank you for such valuable information that you share with us! Will buy crossfire and use it’s labeled , but wanted to know if you recommend getting a commercial grade steamer which gets up to 212 degrees f that can be used on the floor, furniture, mattresses, clothing etc. and mattress/box spring covers that don’t let beg bugs in or out. We can’t move our right now so will have to deal with this issue for a couple of months. Do you recommend anything I mentioned to help eliminate beg bugs? Thank you !
I live on an end terrace joining 3 other houses. Do rats/mice live between all 4 houses or would the infestation be in my house if I can hear straching in the walls? Would we all need to set baits and seal up any holes we find?
Lol...I grew up on a farm...going into the barn where hay and feed were kept...a mouse ran up my jeans!!!! Been freaked out every time I see one....lm petrified!
Hi Me and my family just moved in our new mobile home couple months back. Have not have any issues inside of the home yet but the other day I was just sitting on the porch and notice a mice by the steps and it was alive and the next day I saw a dead one in the yard and alive one just on the side of my home. I was wondering if there are more and coming from under the house? I never had experienced it before in my other moble home we are in a country area now so this is new to me.
I have a problem I kilt one already I seen another one but I don’t hear scratching in the walls that much and I don’t see poop it’s like I’ll see one then they’ll disappear for a week then boom they back I just went and got some steel wool I want too put poison down but I have a dog

Same. Does it caught fire from the dryer hose?
Keep the videos coming, very informative. I'm new to the pest control field and the more knowledgeable I can become the better service I can provide.

How do you seal the gap under kitchen units?
My house is 96 years old. It would take a dump truck full of steel wool. Great video, though.
me too.

How do you seal the hole under your kitchen sink? The water pipes run through it. Any help is appreciated.
Best mouse info video that I have seen and I have watched over 20!

It's been 5 months how's is it?
Thank you so much. This was very helpful information. Plan on watching of the videos
Will spraying foam on the steel wool help . First use wool then spray foam
I don’t have experience with using spray foam for exclusions. I know that mice will chew through it though and use it as a nesting material
@@GreenAkersPC thank you I’ll stay away from it and just use the wool or copper wool

Steel wool is the best, use sealant also over the steel wool. Expanding foam not great as they can chew through it.
I had someone come from pest control but apparently they did not find any holes or they didn't bother to look. They're getting in somewhere though.

If you choose to use a steamer be sure to use it BEFORE you apply crossfire
Green Akers Pest Control LLC whys that?
Because pesticides break down much faster when heat is applied to them

Hey there thank you for doing this video. And I wish you’d gotten to the steel wool sooner. Shorter and sweeter is always better.
great confirmed what I thought - Thanks from thailand home of the lizard critters, !
How would u seal holes in the ground ...or holes in or under a broken slab or concrete
Hey Jason. Just catching up on your videos. So do you recommend putting steel wool in the holes? I didn't understand
I do recommend steel wool
@@GreenAkersPC and you place it over the holes, correct?
Very helpful. Thank you!
Thanks, I've learned a good amount. 👍

Mice live under trailers all the time
Thank you for the tips!
Does hardware cloth keep them out?
Only if it’s smaller than 1/4 inch holes
Jason, can you possibly make a video about dealing with finding a snake in the house?
I can do that
What’s your thoughts on controlling mice in an attic within a townhouse?
Fairly easy with bait stations
Thank you so much. Very helpful.
Can I put catches on my kitchen cabinets to keep them out of them?
They won’t work
Very informative. Thank you.
Thank you, doing it right now😂
Thanks man
Great video
Can I put this in the installation touching my dryers hose all around the hose whole or will it caught fire when warm
Its metal...I dont think it will
informative, thanks
How about cars I had one in mine but never found it just a lot of shredded napkins I used peppermint oil not sure it helped
Keeping mice out of cars usually requires a bait station inside the car or near where it’s parked (like in a garage)
Green Akers Pest Control LLC thank u I sure do appreciate all you do
Thank you!
good info, thanks man
I'm sharing this with my boss

Are you saying most will never get rid of mice?
No im saying its very hard to seal mice out of a house and most houses that have had a mouse will have another
How to keep them outta travel trailer
How do you get rid of the mouse inside the wall of the house?
Bait crawlspaces, attics or basements
