  • Hi Everyone! Hope everyone is doing well and stay safe. September’s second video is here! This was taken on July 31st, the video starts off with Amtrak Coast Starlight #11 passing through with later on when Amtrak San Joaquins test train streetrunned through Oakland Jack London Square with F40NPCU #90218 to the station to perform some measurements between the platform and the Venture cars automatic stairs. After a brief 10-15 minute stop at the station, CDTX #2108 (SC44) then departed the station bound for Stockton, specifically the Altamonte Corridor Express (ACE) maintenance facility.

      @@amtrak_121 Hey man, I still enjoy my vintage rolling stock. Amtrak destroyed all the progress the private companies made. Don't get me wrong, I love them Budd and Pullman cars built for streamliners like the Super Chief, El Capitan, Broadway Limited, Congressional, East Coast Champion. That was in the day when companies had to compete because one person many choices. Amtrak is a state owned monolpoly, like they gave a damn, you've gotta operate like a business if you want people to ride the train. One train a day frequencies plus old worn out rolling stock just doesn't make the cut. But I agree with the retro charm, we need the good old streamliners back, I would so anything to ride on the Broadway Limited or Super Chief.

    I have been riding Brightline in Florida, so I know these cars, because they are quite the same. Comfort, noise level, seats, all good. Perhaps bi-level cars would have fit to the role better, but Rotem messed it up big time, when they got the order for the new California car.

    That scoop on top of the charger needs to be taken off it’s looks very stupid now.... also I got a question, the paint scheme on the passenger cars are not really the same on the engines yes the colors are the same but everything else is not... so are they going to repaint the engine to match the coaches?

    • @spottingbythebay
      @spottingbythebay  4 роки тому +3

      Captain Jeau The scoop is a mod (modification) mainly for the California cars specifically on chargers for Amtrak Cal. Once they’re gone it’s an easy removal. Regarding the paint that’s a good question, the scheme on the chargers now are for the CC, so once CC gets their venture cars it should match but now with the SJ cars I’m not sure. All I know is that CC and SJ use a variety of different engines to operate so it’ll be a little while for everything to match. If you look up on google, search up Amtrak Capitol Corridor new train cars, you can see the concept/proposed on images and there are a few articles on it.
