Willunga/South Australian... I missed a couple of Reeds on my tree... I only found them the next year when I went to pick the fruit... They were delicious... Its opens the window to eat them up to 12 months
i dont know what kind of avocado tree i have but got 2 crops this year we had a bunch in early January and at same time new fruit started that's the first time that's happened tree may be 15 to 20 years old and the strange thing is sometimes i get fruit in November and other years February but this year the winds have really hurt this last crop may have about 40 avocados left on thee with hardly any leaves to protect them from the sun my dog is having a feast though he gets them on the ground before i can. my plan is to trim it its about 20feet tall and just as wide..
@@johnflynn5003 !SIGH! Thanks. I have loads of "limb rats" but no ground squirrels. Super sonic pellet gun for me with unleaded pellets...but I don't enjoy killing until they really piss me off and when I get a couple the rest become very wary and hard to get near. Maybe a 410 shotgun is next tho my neighbors won't enjoy that. Wiped out ALL of my walnuts and pecans in last couple yrs, gotta do something.
@@johnflynn5003 Dawns on me that maybe you are thinking ground squirrels while mine are never on the ground longer that to get a drink of water or bury a nut, dogs can't do much and my cat's can't match them in a tree tho they may try.
Very interested in this experiment as I have one of your Reeds, currently a little small to be carrying fruit...purchased/planted July 2019, it's looking strong.
Have you harvested the fruit?
Curious to see if that Reed avocado 🥑 is still hanging on.

Are your avocado trees grown on clonal rootstock?

Anyone know how much of a problem raccoons and squirrels are for avos on the trees?
Possums love em. I trap ground squirrels and gophers to prevent damage to mine, I've heard raccoons love them too.
Unfortunately squirrels love em... dog or BB gun is only way

Do you think this would grow in NC zone 7b/8a? I would like to try it if I can buy some seeds from you? :)
