+Yasmine S. Different tools have their own characteristics, pros and cons. You should pick and use the tool that suits your purpose or job, or just something that you like. I've a friend who loves drawing on a tablet, and that's his preference. I prefer traditional. So it really depends on your preference.
Thanks for making more tablet reviews! 👍😊
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) Thanks
I was just looking for a review with the pen as most of the reviews for this came out before the pen was available. Thank you for the review. Sadly I would like something that can perform well in Photoshop, so this tablet is not for me.
+Thomas Kee I was looking for that review too.
Neither for me
Thanks so much for the 'deals' discussed in your last post. I took advantage of the empty paint tin and the half pans.
+Candice Borrett That's great. I read that they don't ship to all countries as listed.
Is this better than tab 3 ?
just one note, I have this tablet and I haveused the external port for 2 different external hard drive with no problem. I have used a simple cheap 3 Euro adapter to convert type c to odl fashoned usb 2.
Great review. You have far more patience than I. :-)
PS. I got my Portable Painter box in the mail yesterday. Very nice.
+John Matthias It's a difficult product to review with all the glitches
Thank you so much for all your tablet reviews!
An very nice Pad with W10 for industrial Image processing.
I thought it was good to draw, now that I see the video, I realize that this tablet is a mess. I better buy a wacom 13 hd pro.
Great review, will other stylus work with the pro s? or are you limited to only samsung stylus?
It's probably limited to the Samsung Stylus only if you want pressure sensitivity.
This is a joke, Samsung is getting really lazy with their PC products, they didn't even bother to include a real digitizer in the display, instead just throw a Bluetooth stylus in the package.
+Harry Wang Yeah. It's quite pathetic. Not just that. Their stylus software does nothing except to show you the battery life.
Harry Wang Samsung has never made a good product with windows. Their laptops are just as terrible since they started getting them for sale. told this for my own experience.
Hahaa... this is a discussion about about electronics and gadgets, let's not get political here, and certainly no need to use offensive racist words like "Ching Chang Chinese", show some respect and basic human decency.
Also, please read the title before commenting, this is an artist's review of a art creation tool, we are merely stating that this particular Samsung product is not suited for artists seeking drawing tablet. Samsung does make some pretty good drawing tablets, like the new Galaxy Tab S3 and Galaxy Book which I assume would be perfect for drawing considering the included WACOM EMR stylus.
Thanks Harry. I've removed the racist comments from this page. I really don't have time to respond to them, nor do I want my viewers to waste time responding to them.
Ignore these jealous dumb asses. they probably can't even afford the things you have keep it up! You're doing a great job!
Hey , the book is coming , you can try it , I bet you won't be disappointed with the new s pen , I really want to buy it and I love your reviews , if you try it and say it's good then I would be much more confident to buy it :)
+Joseph Mcqueen I'll see if I can get a review unit somehow.
Is there an alternative active (palm rejection) stylus for Tabpro S?
I hear the new Samsung galaxy book not only has a s-pen but a much updated one with tilt!! In my mind that makes it a true cintiq alternative!. When it comes down in price any chance you think you'd be interested in getting it for review?
Great to see artists doing reviews of these kind of products, as they focus on the features that are important to artists and often ignored or skimmed over in other tech reviews.
Since the pen is identical to the Wacom pen, it would seem this is basically running Wacom Active ES pen. Or is it some different tech?
+queertales That pen is no where near the sensitivity of Wacom tablet styluses.
queertales p
Thanks for the wonderful review!
May I request to have a review on Samsung Galaxy Book? Thank you so much
+Arisha Obispo Unfortunately the Samsung Galaxy Book is not released here in Singapore so I can't review it.
can you review the 17.3" RCA tablet will it be good for drawing espacially using medibang😃😃😃
I'm currenty looking forward to the new Samsung Galaxy Tab S with LTE and the S-Pen, coming in March/April. It is not so big as the TabPro, so better for carrying outside
If I remember correctly, their Tab S series don't come with S Pen. It's usually their Note series that have the S Pen. The Samsung Tab A was the exception.
www.sammobile.com/2017/02/03/galaxy-tab-s3-will-come-with-an-s-pen/
***** Thanks for the link. I'll see if I can get my hands on one.
there will even be a new TabPro S2, too:
theleaker.com/samsung-galaxy-tabpro-s2/
Artist review of galaxy book 12 (this is how it called instead of tabpro S2) would interest me too..
Do Huawei Matebook, pls.
+Kanrop Hukaew If I can get one at good prices, yes.
Amazing review and helpful as usual... thanks a lot
+Assem Ali (CG BlacK) Thanks 😁
seen also some of your other videos. would love to see in the description links to buy from and prices😊
There are too many places that sell this so I usually just link to Amazon USA. amzn.to/2lBBtUy
Prices always change, so just check at online stores.
Thanks so much, great review.
There´s any active stylus that work on this tablet? Maybe the Staedtler Noris Digital?
Thanks for the review. Love your channel.
+JesterMclovin As far as I know, the only active stylus that works with this is the one included.
Hello +Teoh. Great and interesting review from a artist perspective. I am looking for an Android or Windows tablet, primarily for creating mockups/ui for software projects and mindmapping. Do you have any recommendations for devices and apps? Thanks
+S. R. Samsung Tab S3 is good. Lenovo Yoga Book
The surface pen work with TabPro S, bro ?
You didn't say anything about the "AMOLED" beautiful colors and super deep blacks on this display. It is very rare to find a 10+ inch OLED screen like this. Once you used an OLED screen on a laptop, it is hard to go back to a traditional LCD screen.
+Jarrett Vance Regardless of the technology behind, if I'm not able to see consistency in colour reproduction on every area of the screen, it's not a suitable screen for me. And the screen on this tablet has colour shift at the edges even when viewing straight on. Anyway, I'm reviewing this from an artist perspective. General public probably don't really care about such features. As long as colours looks nice, it's good enough.
Hi..which stylus would you recommend for this tablet for taking notes? With palm rejection please.
7/2/2017, he's reviewing this from the future :p
Is Lightroom can be use decently in this device? Please let me know.
Does the s pen work on galaxy tab pro s? Will it support palm rejection
is the lenovo yoga book your favourite windows tablet?
Currently it might be the Miix 510, but the Yoga Book (Android) is very good as well.
Hi! Please review the XP-Pen Artist 22E, it's an updated version of the 22HD. There are currently no reviews on youtube!
+Aníbal Fuentes I will have to see if I can get a unit to review. I don't expect the drawing functionality to be too different
you should try to review samsung galaxy book, that one has wacom and tilt.
+K. n Thanks. If I can get a unit I'll do so. It is currently not out yet.
Oh i thought it was out in some places, anyways i hope that they send you one. You obviously put a lot of work and research in your vids so they should just send you one c;
So is this mini pc
Hi, had the Samsung pen for a short while and it supports palm rejection....maybe it was limited to one note but I had to install drivers for the pen and activate palm rejection to make it work
+Joe Gillian Palm rejection works for selected apps. But sometimes there will still be stray strokes.
Thanks, I guess they really did not put any digitizer in the screen then and it is all software.Wish there was an easy way to make any Bluetooth capacitive pen work as well with another windows tablet. My 8.3 inches windows tablet would really benefit some pen support...
I just bought one of these tablets today and now im sad because this video makes me think it was a bad choice,
I only bought it because it was very very cheap
Hi Teoh! Awesome video, have you tried using other type of pens with the tablet?
+Philip Chan Other styluses are those capacitive styluses, and the Adonit Dash 2 and Snap. No difference from using those styluses on this tablet vs other tablets.
Hope you Get a Good someone to Buy it off you Teoh and Thanks for the Information thumbs Up !! its a Very Nice Tablet .. P,s I was wondering that you had so Many Tablets ? hope you find the One you so You Can draw again .. Buts its always Good to shop for a Good one that fits your Needs of what you Love to do ..
+Bonnie Lou Rivera I bought it at a good discount so it should be no problem selling it.
You Sure Have a lot of Laptops , but one Can Have so Many of them , Glad you Got a Good Price .. you should have your Own Computer Store because you are Very Honest with the Name Brand How they work !! which One is your Favorite Laptop Teoh ? By The way My Name is Bonnie !!
+Bonnie Lou Rivera I don't have a lot of laptops. I just have one iPad Pro. The rest are borrowed or bought for reviews and sold later.
+Bonnie Lou Rivera if you are talking about laptops, not tablets. The better ones out there for graphic design is the Dell XPS, Dell Precision and HP Zbook
Teoh Yi Chie AWWWW TY FOR THE IMPUT AND I AM OR HOPING TO BUY A BRAND NEW HP 2 IN ONE AND I ALSO LOVE TO DRAW,BUT I AM NOT PROFESSIONAL ARTIST. I JUST LIKE TO DOODLE !!
I suggest the Lenovo Miix 510
Teoh Yi Chie AWWW TY AND YOU ARE SMART BORROWING DEVICES TO DO A REVIEW GREAT IDEA TEOH !! ok I LOOK FORWARD TO YOUR NEXT VIDEO !!
Are you using any screen protection against scratches? Do you think is necessary or the cover protection isso enough?
+Emerson Monteiro There is screen protector on this. I usually use screen protector. For drawing, I use those matte surface ones.
Have you updated the software and which Bios version did you use in the review ? My pen will arrive in 3-4 weeks and i don't think that the performance of the pen is so bad as you say. Looks like you had some major problem with the OS and drivers.
+Dorin Gaiu I've updated every thing I can via the Samsung update centre. Don't get this if you're going to use it for drawing. There are better alternatives out there, SP4, Lenovo Miix, iPad or Pro.
okay, I will share my results after I test it. Maybe there are better alternatives, but I like the design of the TabPro and it is a real PC unlike iPad or Android tablets. As I understood this pen works not only on TabPro but also on their Android tablets and phones.
I got my pen, yeah it is much worse than the s pen from my phone (galaxy note 5) because there is a lot of input lag which ruins the experience. It is usable only for taking notes, slight photo editing but not for serious drawing. I paid about 50 bucks for a brand new pen which is too much I think. I haven't tested it on android galaxy tablets yet. Maybe this pen will do a better job on Android but I'm disappointed, it is really not that accurate.
No palm rejection? Fail...
Will Adonit Ink work with this?
@Teoh Yi Chie why did you opt to use the C pen instead of using the S pen?
This tablet is only compatible with the C Pen
Is this better than tab s3 and Lenovo yoga book ? Which do you prefer as an artist ?
Tab S3 is better
samsung galaxy tab pro s 请问马来西亚一台多少钱呢?
was looking at this the new one with 8gb of ram or the tab S3 but I'm lost as to why the stylus needs to be charged and why it uses micro USB when the tablet uses USB c
+Andy Haber Samsung Tab S3 uses S Pen stylus which does not need to be charged.
U mention there is no ext memory card slot, but the shop salesman mention have?Is it different from gold tablet different model???Thks for a reply for an answer,I only interest to buy if there is an ext card slot.
+Y S Don't get this if you can find a Lenovo Miix 510
Teoh Yi Chie at 6:02 make you mention that the sticker was from a previous owner, do you always buy your products refurbished? I am looking for a 2 in 1 device I can draw on and my wife can type/work under $1500USD that comes with a really GOOD pen (or 3rd party product) your help will be greatly appreciated. I feel so over whelmed with all the choices and options. Top 5 list maybe?
+jason thomas My products are mostly borrowed or bought secondhand as I seldom have sponsors.
As for the best tablet, it depends on the apps you want to use. My top five in the $1500 price range are
1. Apple iPad Pro + Apple Pencil
2. Lenovo Miix 510
3. Surface Pro 4
4. Android version Lenovo Yoga Book
Have you made a review with samsung galaxy book? I am considering buy a acer switch alpha or samsung galaxy book? Can you give some advice in terms of drawing experience?
+Cao Hoang Yen I've not reviewed the Galaxy Book so I don't know how well it will perform when it comes to drawing. For Windows tablet, you can check out Acer Switch Alpha, Lenovo Miix 510, Surface Pro 2017.
so what is the bottom line. Which tablet is best for art work?
iPad Pro, Wacom MobileStudio Pro probably.
Thanks
I really enjoy your videos and have learned a great deal from them. But I'm confused as to what is best, digital art or traditional media with a view to improvement as an art student
cybrough You get out what you put in. It is possible to go either path and learn well. But the path doesn't matter if a student isn't willing to do the work, learn from others, and push themselves beyond their comfort zone. Those three things are more vital than any choice of medium to work in. Also bear in mind that there's no such thing as a single digital medium or a single traditional medium. Pencil work is its own beast, as is pen and ink, watercolors, oils, gouache. Corel Painter, Photoshop, Clip Studio Pro, and ArtRage all have their own learning paths as well.
I find that doing both digital and traditional mediums is beneficial to my growth as an artist. But I've drifted towards traditional media because the feel of it is more suited to me, to the point where I no longer consider myself a digital artist.
But I wouldn't have figured that out had I not tried various mediums in both digital and traditional paths.
There's not an answer here that fits all; art is a very individual field, more so than any other I've ever encountered. In many ways, art is far more empirical-rooted in experiments-than theoretical-rooted in rules.
Try stuff out. ^_^ and don't rule out the weirdness of a medium you didn't like at first turning out to be your one true love. It's happened to me multiple times (conte, pen and ink, and Chinese painting).
As mentioned by Ava Jarvis, try different things. Try different media, pen, pencil, ink, paint. Different media will make you think differently because they work differently. It's fun. Learn from different artists. Practice. The more you draw and learn, the better you get.
How about palm rejection ? By the way i'm planning to buy this one for about 500 is a good price? still worth it ?
Palm rejection works fine. I think that price is alright. Compare prices on Amazon
Not a good price get the GB12 instead for the same price
gr8 review Au
Can digital apps really perform equal to traditional ink, watercolor and other media.
+cybrough Digital can mimic the look of traditional but sometimes the feeling is different. It comes down to the look you want, then choose the appropriate tool for the job.
I guess what I'm asking is, is it better to learn with traditional media and then transfer that to digital or visa versa or just master one or the other.
I think it's better to start with traditional first and learn the basic principles of drawing. I heard of people who start drawing with digital and they can't draw with traditional. But people who start with traditional and go digital can always go back to traditional easily.
Thanks for taking time to respond. I've enjoyed your videos and lessons very much.
ty
Has the TabPro S the same function as galaxy note 5 where you can take a picture of a document for then transform the image text in editable text?
+Renzo Leturia Not sure about that, but you probably can find some software that does it. It's not a hardware thing.
Thank you for your response. Your videos are very interesting since the point of view as a real user.
you could try google drive to expand storage
lol. Each time I make this Window tablet reviews, I get that running out of cloud storage warning. I have Google Drive.
Teoh Yi Chie I beleive hive has unlimited storage but is only online, if your looking for something better
Google Drive is not unlimited but their pricing is quite good.
Teoh Yi Chie I agree.
Can u please do a review on bamboo fineline3 I bought one and it doesn't support the MediBang drawing app....I am so upset now
+Chan Xenon Sze Long I'll try to if I can get my hands on one.
Did you right click on that green pencil app to see if it pop up with stuff?
I think the only use for that app is to tell you how much battery life is left in the pen. It does nothing else.
Teoh Yi Chie Well I would try it if you didn't, because I have a right click with my drop-box that I can't get into it the normal way but if I right click it it pops up a tab to do stuff. When apps appear in bottom corner in that area it can have a bug in them.
+ParadiseofDarkness I tried right clicking and it just pops up that box you see in the video. There is nothing else there. There's no contextual menu that usually appears with right click.
Teoh Yi Chie Bummer. Alright thanks for looking for this tech geek gal
can you use the hdmi port to connect a ps4 for example?
No you can't. You can't use this tablet as an external monitor.
This or tab s3?
+Nunu Imak Tab S3
I don't understand, why samsung doesn't use wacom or own stylus technologies like s-pen?
Not sure why Samsung would do that too.
Please, ask them if you'll have that possibility in the future 😁
Thanks for the review!
The stylus is made by wacom
Where is proof?
Well i own it and there is "Made in China, designed by Wacom" written on it. :P
Why you bother to make a review about this? It looks even worse than my Surface Pro 3
So that people can save their money
The c-Pen work with tab s3 ??
Doesn’t work
@@teohyc thank you
samsung galaxy tab pro s 12 256 gb Malaysia RM 4.399
how did you get photoshop cs6?
+Chase unkown mission It's the old version from many years ago. I did not upgrade to the monthly subscription Photoshop.
how do you get the older version of Photoshop
I've always been using the old version of Photoshop. I never upgraded to Adobe CC
Teoh Yi Chie how, where do you get it
From Adobe's website. www.adobe.com/
It's not free. If you want free apps, check out Medibang Paint Pro.
can i play steam games?
+armanahmad46 Not too sure. I didn't try. Probably not very good at games. Just check Steam recommended specs.
man that is disappointing. Samsung has access to some of the best digitizer tech out there, and produces some of the best screens, so this type of product should have been a no brain knock out. yet somehow they still failed. Samsung has a clear lack of focus and understanding of what their products are for. they need to quit blindly following apple with these types of moves. this thing clearly has potential, but was held back by poor decisions and corner cutting.
+Crimson Lust Yeah. It is disappointing. I was expecting some sort of active stylus but it is only capacitive.
You are not a huge fan a fan buy it directly
I'm not a fan
Don't like this shitty drawing... it's too slow and with empty lines sometimes... This fact amazed me. Anybody! Can give advice what gadget to chose? with really fast and accurate drawing? ON THE SCREEN
iPad Pro
Thank you
This tablet is SHIT
Yes!!....amoled is the shit iPad is not amoled
