Excellent review! The Smith's Everest watch caught my eye a while ago and I've been hesitant to purchase one not knowing the quality of the time piece. Watching this review and another has convinced me to watch for the next Everest watch drop and purchase one so that my Heritage Tudor Ranger doesn't get beat up with near constant wear. I notice that they have a serious saturation style diver as well as a playful looking scuba watch I may look into as well. Thank-you for being so open with your watch and it's review!

Very good and informative video. I have been trying to get one of these for sometime now, but they have not been available on Time Factors in awhile, but they did indicate it might become available in the Fall later this year. I could not wait that long as I too developed a love for explorer type watches, so I found Nivada Grechen and picked up their Super Antactic 3.6.9 which is very similar to the Rolex Explorer and the Antarctic Spider. Gorgeous watches running with Soprod SP024 Swiss automatic movements but a bit pricey, $900 USd on a bracelet, or $700 on leather or rubber.

Nivada looks amazing. How do you like it? Regarding my Smiths I actually sold it. There was some quality issue on the dial that I discovered only recently. I made a video about it.

Is the rotor of the Myota 039 movement noisy?

Great review! Which do you think is better, this smiths or the baby alpinist SPB155 on the bracelet? Which one has better finishing?

As of finishing they are similar to me. But overall I like this Smiths better.

Hi … I’m interested in trying to get this watch which is easier said than done ! Do you still have the watch and has it aged well / reliably?
    Thanks 👍🏻

    Is it better than Explorer1?
How was the Miyota 9039 movement?

    • @OneManReviews

I would not compare them, the quality level is different. But this Smiths is a very good watch for the money.

A good condition vintage 1016 Explorer from the late 80s with box and papers is now on Chrono24 for a mere £24,350. So this Smiths is about 1/70th of the price for a similar design. Different budgets.

I haven't resolved how I feel about this brand & watch.
A resurrected company ( not original owner/ family) making a watch based upon a ( later) design from the other company that also gave a watch to the team of an event on which both companies used afterwards for bragging rights ..er..promotion/marketing..that's probably not made in England ( although designed? ) .

    • @OneManReviews
      @OneManReviews  2 роки тому +11

The design is a controversy I agree, but if you take Submariner design there are tons of brands that capitalize on the famous design. Take for example, Royal Oak (Nautilus) and there you have Tissot PRX, GP Laureato, Chopard Alpine Eagle, new Zenith Defy Skyline etc. If big names do it why small company cannot do the same :)
The same goes for original owners. How many big watch names were revived recently and have new owners... Maybe watch is not made in England, but the quality is good and movement much more accurate than my more expensive Seiko. I like the watch so far will see how they will perform in the future.

@@OneManReviews One thing is to take inspiration from another piece, like the PRX with the AP - they both have the "waffle dial", but the PRX isn't a direct copy of it or of any other watch. The Smith is completely different in my opinion, it is pretty much a copy of an Explorer, pretty much the same as various chinese companies do, like San Martin or Pagani Design. To me they are at the same level of those and are just taking advantage of the brand name to get more hype. Nothing wrong with that, if people like them and buy them. I just don't think the wat they are doing things can be compared to "big watch names".

It's such a shame Smiths didn't continue with their own design. They were there along with Rolex and should have stood proudly with that. Instead they've homaged themselves into something very uninteresting to many

But the San Martin’s logo at the 12 O’clock mark is terrible in my opinion. It’s like the same size as the round of the hour hand making it look cluttered when the time is anywhere between 11 and 1 o’clock
