I mean we all know Lou Gramm is one of the best vocalists of the 70's,80s and 90s but he's also one hell of a story teller. What I really like about him is what a nice person he is,as if he's completely unaffected by his success
Foreigner would be nothing without him. His vocals made the songs epic.
God, Lou has really gone through some massive challenges yet he's quite clearly still a humble unpretentious man with a big heart, and of course, a big powerful voice! One of the best ever in rock. All the best to him.
Awesome interview with Lou !!
I recently got the book… and he made my day by writing a message for me in it !!!
Always loved him as lead singer for Foreigner and his own band too !!!
Really hoping to get to see him around the Phoenix area in an upcoming tribute concert that was mentioned on his site……
Would be such an awesome honor to meet him…. And personally thank him for the years and years of great music !!!!
Bob from Arizona
Lou Gramm makes my top 5 all time greatest male rock vocalists.
Lou is a giant among rock singers.
Hi Lou!
Yes, YOU are in the TOP 3 ROCK SINGERS OF ALL TIME:
Lou Gramm
Steve Perry
Freddie Mercury
There will never be another three like you guys...voices of GOLD! God Given talent!
Blessings 🙌 to you from Arkansas
Plus plant and rogers
Honestly......Can you "really" classify Perry's voice as a rock voice? He's a Great singer NO QUESTION, but there is Zero in his voice to be able to classify as a rock voice. It's a souful pop voice.
You need to add Paul Rodgers to that list
I admire the humility, and genuineness, of one of greatest rock vocalists ever.
I hope Lou realizes the iconic status he holds in the history of hard rock music. The guy is on the short list of greats
God bless Lou! The greatest, best voice in popular rock music ever. So glad I got to see him with foreigner on the head game's tour. There will never be another like him.
I met Lou while working at a major hotel in Atlanta during Foreigner's heyday. He was the most humble, genuine "star" I had ever met. A few years later I ended up with a brain tumor similar to his. That was 20 years ago I had brain surgery that lasted 16 hours. It was successful, however I has a stroke the 1st day of recovery & had a long road to recovery. Being a full-time musician quite a bit of my life, Lou Gramm is & has been my greatest inspiration. I am evern more thrilled to hear him sing now because of the association of what we both went thru. I'm eternally thankful that I recovered too & am still a recording & performaning drummer today. Thank you Dom for having Lou on your show, and thank you Lou for being such an inspiration.
Glad your ok. People should be reminded that Lou was not the only one who went through the trouble you both had and no ones exempted from a rough patch , it's how people handle it that counts. We all have a story to tell, I'm glad you told yours.
Thanks for sharing your story & happy to hear of your recovery & making music today!
I sure hope your cancer does not return. But if I may, if it were to return anywhere in your body, check into "Resonant Frequencies" and their ability to "kill" or destroy cancer cells. It was developed by a doctor in the 1930's , then shoved under the rug. I think the frequency is around 30,000 hertz (far above human hearing) and causes no negative affects to the human body. I pray and wish you the best of health for your remaining days. Take care my friend, and keep on rocking ! (music is very good for the body. don't be scared to turn it up and feel the music too. For the body's natural healing process to occur, you must stimulate your soul, and music is the only thing that can do that. All music is good for your health ! Remember we humans are made of: Mind, Body and Spirit). Take care, and wish you all the best !
@@johannjohann6523 Royal Raymond Rife...Was the Doctor you are referring too...He also developed the High powered micro scope 50.000 magnification.
From wikipedia, Royal Raymond Rife was an American inventor and early exponent of high-magnification time-lapse cine-micrography.
Thanks for sharing your story.
Such an uplifting interviewer. He really uplifted Lou from a dark place during the interview.
Foreigner fans are original among most rock fans, as we started out with the band from day one. Once Ed, Ian, and Al were let go, it was never the same. Lou rocks
Wonderful interview! Love Lou’s voice!
Life long fan of Lou Gramm
Top 5 vocalist of all time for me
Lou is the man!
This interview is SO deeply informative and inspiring. Lou Gramm has that "thing" .... a sound that is unmistakable, a vibe, an "everything". What a hero. Thank you Dom.
SuperStar LOU GRAMM is so humble for such an AMAZING ROCK KING! Most beautiful, coolest singer/vocals ever!
Foreigner would be no where without Lou!! 🙏❤️
Never saw Foreigner with anyone else but Lou on vocals and I caught their shows on 6 different occasions
Lou made Foreigner what they were. They would of got no where without his vocals and talent. Have always been a fan of Lous’ and always will be. I had the privilege of seeing Foreigner in Lake Placid, NY way back in the early or mid 80’s. My most memorable concert! I’m from NY too but northeastern upstate NY. How your heart always longs to go home. All the best to you, Lou. What an inspiration to others. Take care.
An argument could be made that Lou Gramm is the best rock voice, ever. He belted out those high notes like no one else. I know saying Robert Plant is maybe a cooler name to drop; and many names come to mind; but the argument can be made for Lou.
Love Lou Gramm!
What humility. Your music will live forever, Sir.
Lou, is an awesome singer/songwriter!!! So so glad he is still here!! His voice lifts me up to, it's so amazing!!!
His voice on hot blooded, juke box, head games just blew me away, the iconic power rock voice. Now i hear his story and am so glad he pulled through the nightmare of cancer. Lou’s story is inspirational and gives me a boost to deal with my own health issues.
His tumor was benign. Thank God! Not cancer!❤
@michellegoad1052 Right!
Really enjoyed this video!!! Lou Gramm is remarkable on stage and off‼️‼️‼️ THE greatest voice in music ‼️ looking forward to hearing you sing in person in God’s Heavenly choir someday ‼️‼️‼️ A fan forever‼️‼️
What a great interview I'm HUGE! fan of Lou and my opinion he's the greatest singer period! ... I'm shocked to hear about his mistreatment and the disrespect he received. The public more than anything associate a great song with the styling of the vocalist, in that alone he deserved a greater percentage. It was the greed, selfishness and pride that destroyed a great partnership, and those are the worst qualities to have. God bless you Lou.
I've never been a fan of Foreigner, but I respect and appreciate them now. What a great story!
one of the great voices in rock. Lou was a huge part of Foreigner. excellent interview
I have been following Foreigner (Lou Gramm) Since 1980...Lou is still my favorite rock band musician...his talent is exquisite...and I love these interviews he does...I love hearing his stories...feel like I've known him my whole life..so happy your doing well, Lou!
I was blessed to see Lou twice ,once in Foreigner in York, Pa.in the early 90's & in 2017 at Williamsport ,Pa. PAC we stayed after the concert to meet with him, Wow what a humble man, He graciously signed my Lou Gramm T-shirt & my girlfriend's Juke Box Hero book,Wow what an ICON !!! He Is 1 of the GREATEST OF ALL-TIME VOCALISTS EVER !!! What an incredible story of your career & unforgettable health issues!! The music of today doesn't touch me like the music of 70's & 80's did then! The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame should be ASHAMED for NOT Having these guys in the Hall Along time ago!!! Lou you are 1 of the GREAT GODS of ROCK ! Stay well !!
Amazing legend and true icon of music . A true inspiration to others . A warrior who never gave up and great to this day. A true gentleman to his fans. Thankful for his songs that touched my life forever.
Lou was a Trooper and is the Man !
I wish Lou would have had a few minutes and take that five percent, would have been worth millions. You could always tell Lou was never close with Mick after this. His story about how Mick treated Lou after his surgery, was f,,,,,ng sad beyond belief
Lou is the greatest.
Great history of Lou. Had seen his group Black Sheep and Poor Heart
in the early 70's at High School Dances in Charlotte, Rochester, NY. Just a few
years later all this story of his life started coming together. ❤ 🙏
A true National Treasure. I grew up on Foreigner's music and love it to this day. I am glad you survived and are doing well. I wish you all the best and thank you for the great music!
ONE COOL DUDE !!!!! SAW HIM LIVE SINGING GREAT ! THANKS .
"URGENT" My favorite song to dance all up on my hubby😉👩🏼❤️💋👨🏻 Epic Song & Singing, Thank You Lou...🤗
Lou Gramm WAS Foreigner!
Great Vocalist an a class act cool guy.
God bless you , Lou. May our Lord and Savior keep you in HIS care now and always. ❤🙏🏻
Hi there! What a brilliant interview! Thanks a lot for posting this! Here is my own story. Lou is my favorite rock singer, whose the lyric tenor impressed me in the childhood very much and I began to write my own poems at the age of 10. What a humble, wise and kind human being! Please take care! Love and peace from Russia!
Great interview, fellas. Very enjoyable. Good to hear lou is doing well . 👍😎🇮🇪
One of my favorite rock singers of all time. What a voice. A wedge that ends harmony.
I saw Foreigner twice in the late 70s.
The first time was right before Double Vision was released. I was on the second row and Lou was asking the crowd, have you heard this one? Like a bunch of fools we were shouting, yes!
Lou says, you couldn't have, we haven't released it yet. Duhhhh!
The second time I saw them was when Foreigner 4 came out.
Great show.. Then I moved out to California in 84 and I still liked Foreigner
but their music was changing.
That Was Yesterday, a song that was clearly so different, that alot of fans thought this is the end of Foreigner.
Lou went out on his own and the song
Midnight Blue was released. I was in Sacramento on my honeymoon and I went to the Red Roof Inn to check in and I saw this long haired guy with his family
and I thought, this guy looks familiar.
I recognized him as Lou Graham. I actually went up to him and asked him if he was playing in Sacramento. I told him him I was a fan of course. He said he was opening up for Steve Miller at the Cow Palace and I said I would definitely be there. Cool times.
Read Lou Gramm's autobiography. It is well written and honest. Lou was Foreigner.
Lou is so brutally honest and open in his delivery of the past. I admire his realness and yet sense a few regrets. No one can go back and do things differently, but I feel he wishes that he could have stood up to Mick more strongly. I would SO love seeing Lou perform live before he takes his well deserved retirement at the end of this year!
Much respect for Lou Gramm giving the glory to God as I can relate to calling on the name of the Lord and asking him to lift an unbearable burden off of my shoulders and of course, the Lord does just that as only he is capable of.Great story.I've got a new found admiration and respect for Lou and the band.thanks man-God bless
What an amazing man! Deserves the deepest respect and honor. Always been one of my favorite singers and always will be...God bless Lou Gramm 💙💙💙
Great interview. Lou deserved so much better.
I always enjoy a new Lou Gramm interview... he doesn't give too many, only a few a year it seems... which makes it special when he does.
Top 5 rock vocalists of all time.
This is a wonderful interview thank you. RIP Mr.famularo, God bless the great Mr.Gramm
Really dig the story about his parents 👍 and Dad must have been a stand up guy to put his horn and music down to raise his family! Just a great story. Sounds like a good up bringing.
Love Lou Gramm
These were real artist and musicians i dont care what race you were this artist transcend all of that...never will be greats like this again
Life is simple, it's either cherry red or midnight blue. Lou Gramm was Foreigner. There is only one voice like that. It carried some rather lackluster compositions to incredible heights.
Always liked Lou. Thought his vocals were unique. I’m blown away hearing what he went through with his health. Wow. All the love I can offer towards you. And thank you for your amazing contributions. ☮️
Thank God for Lou Graham‘s parents what a great vocalist this man is
One of my all time favorites, first heard him when I was 14 and became a guitarist vocalist and songwriter
Amazing Lou🙏 bless you❤️
Pick up Lou’s book “Juke Box Hero”!!!!! (2013) A very good read!! Lots of great stories and band insight
they walk among us and sometimes are working with us. A Great songwriters history that you have been part of Lou. Amazing story and so happy you did not give up. You left your personal brand seared into music history forever..Thank you.
Great interview! Saw the cover band that is now Foreigner & obviously missing Lou's voice! Praise God for you & your recovery, Lou, greatest voice ever!
Lou gramm was and always will be foreigner
Из России с любовью 🤘💓.Доброго здоровья,творческих успехов тебе Лу. Голос моей молодости, разгоняющий кровь в венах уже больше 40лет🔥💓
Lou autographed my cassette tape of Agent Provocateur backstage @ SPAC- Saratoga Springs,NY in 1985.🎼🎹🎸🥁🎷
It’s not the singer that gets a percentage of the royalties, it’s the writer only. They both wrote, “I Want to Know What Love is.” In another interview, Lou explains it completely differently. He said he initially he said 60/40, Mick/Lou. Mick said something like, 80/20. Then they did it again. Lou said something like 65/35, and that’s when Mick came back with 95/5. That pretty much killed the relationship. I don’t know what Mick was thinking. This singer was the heart of that band while Mick was most of the writing talent.
I think when two people sit down to write a song, they need to determine what the percentage breakdown on royalties will be, BEFORE they write it, not after it’s recorded. After they write it, they can make adjustments to the royalty percentages, but don’t record it first.
Yes, that story fits to what he said. Lou should have taken the 20% Everyone is quick to see Mick as the bad guy but he could have taken the song to the 4 Tops and have a hit. Instrumentally it's even good. And nobody cares about the sweat it takes to create the bass or drums.....or the choir!?
I just went to his concert at the Cerritos Center what a blasting concert. I would go to all of his concerts if I could.
Great singer. Great songs. Ahhh, memories. 80s forever.
Ok so I'm sorry by Capitol Records...not ok!!!! You just don't do that to your artists! That was wrong! And without you, I wanna know what love is and waiting for a girl like you, would not be the hits they are. I love you Lou!!! Thank you for sharing and your voice is amazing and I will treasure it forever! You are a true gentleman and my personal hero! And thank you for signing my t-shirt at The Canyon last year! Love you so much!!! You are an inspiration on how to overcome adversity! Love you to the moon and back!!!! Your voice has kept me going through the years. Thank you for being you!!!
Dom such a great interview with Lou. God bless you Lou. Rest in peace Dom you are missed. Amen 🙏 🙏
What a great story one of the most underrated lead singer for sure
Not underrated. Always considered top 3 of era..
@@J021204 Sorry, but he's always underrated... You'd be hard pressed to find any young people that know his name.
@@starmc26 Young people have never heard of Led Zepplin, either. Lucky if they know who the Beatles are.
This was a great interview. Thank you Dom, and Lou. This is a voice that has been embedded in my memory bank since I was 10. This was 1977 and I was in 5th grade. At my friends’ house after school we’d sneak up to his older brothers’ room. That’s where the turntable (and weed) was…and the Double Vision record was, among others of the day. It was ‘77 and the rock music variety was spellbinding. We’d play it over and over again and thought we were SO cool. Immediately I recognized “that voice” as something very special - even back then. All those songs and hits this band has written…are now things of legend. The icing on the cake is hearing and seeing how humble and levelheaded Lou is here. This interview humbled me more too. I’m the better now for hearing his story. Thank heavens he had 20/20 on that night!
Thanks for sharing! Music is powerful! Be sure to subscribe to our channel so you don't miss new interviews!
God orchestrated that!
Lou Grammatico is a class act.
That kind of heartless betrayal is something many can understand. I pray that it hearts can be healed from how others treat us and never treat others as though they don't matter.
Lou Gramm el grande el original ❤❤❤
Saw Foreigner at Day on the Green in SF Bay Area in ‘78 with all the brass. Never should have got rid of that full sound.
“I Wanna Know What Love Is” is a great song but not my fav of a great band. First album is one of those ‘great from start to end’. Love ya Lou (“Thumbs” Up).
Un grande Lou...
Dios bendiga....
Igual sos el mejor de ese grupo....
Cuidate mucho ..
Hermosa voz.....
Muchas gracias!!
Right on lou ♥️
Louie, remember me from our teen years (Kathy Evans)? I had no idea all you have been through. So thankful to hear you are doing well now. Sending prayers for continued health. ❤️
Wow! Did not know of Lou's predicament thank God he got the great doctor! Ah rock n roll and the biz!
Lou is my biggest vocal influence. He set the bar so high. I wish we could learn more about his actual vocal technique. Maybe someday. Thanks for the comprehensive interview Guys.
Check out the Ken Tamplin Vocal Academy here on UA-cam. He's a big Lou Grammy fan and breaks down his vocal technique, as well as others.
I think that what Lou had can't be taught..he didn't start out by taking voice lessons..his is a God-given natural talent.🎉❤
@@margueritemazzeo2904To sing at Lou's level, you need to be adept at multiple vocal skills, abilities and techniques. What we could learn from him would be immeasurable. He is a master of breath control.
@@DustinBlythe Ken's a friend.
Gotta love him. IMHO Lou is the best singer in Rock & Roll. Thanks Dom for this interview.
What a great interview - I wore my Double Vision 8 track out many moons ago - it has since been replaced several times on CD - just a great band!
Great story...when money gets big so does the greed...glad lou is doin well *
A sobering account of the business side of music from Lou here…. but absolutely inspiring to hear his story of overcoming such a monumental health challenge.
Thanks to Lou for the great songs and thanks Dom for sharing the conversation!
excellent - and glad to see Lou is looking and doing well...
Don u r a complete icon of the drumming world & such an inspiration to me 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘Phenomenal i nterview!!!!!!!!!!!
Best vocals in rock Mercury, Perry, Gramm, Plant, Stevo
I’d add Sammy Hagar also.
@@cmikesmith664Nah.
wow, what an amazing story and man! I feel proud to have shaken his hand in Denver CO many years ago.
Wow, that conversation turned really interesting pretty quick
I watched song writing videos of foreigner
And U2 I was amazed how you come up
With hits and trying to be different
And you got it to work true Genius
Like Keith Emerson !
Lou 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡
Dom is such is such a nice man. You can tell that he doesn't like to say anything bad about anyone. Especially when the topic of Mick Jones comes up. I lost alot of respect for Mick Jones after hearing what he did to Lou.
And im so glad that Lou ended up ok. I'm sure it was a really hard road for him. But thank God he is doing ok now. God Bless Lou and Dr. Black.
Thank you for sharing Carl....yes Dom is a genuinely good person and a true asset to our team!
Great stuff. Thank you so much.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wow, Did not know this whole story. I seen Foreigner I think 77 or 78 at Old Cominsky park in Chicago with 1st time AC/DC with Bon Scott , I never heard of them at this time . I said to my buddy , who ever follows these guys have got their work cut out for them . I came to see foreigner & Aerosmith . Now there was bands after AC/DC in-between Foreigner & Aerosmith that probably helped these 2 headliners . Foreigner brought it that night and was really good and Lou was to me the next Robert Plant on vocals. always loved his vocals . I have to say Aerosmith was a little disappointing that night . Their sound was off , Too loud .To Aerosmith's credit though , I seen them about 5 years after that and they were fantastic . I think they were young at the time . But that day AC/DC and Foreigner took the show . Lou did not miss a note that night . Confession I did go buy all of AC/DC albums after that day. I already had Foreigner's and Aerosmith's albums . As a singer songwriter myself influenced by Lou . I wish I could sing half as good as him . A true Rock Legend and very underrated vocalist . Oh I got sober in 1991 . Thanks for a great interview . He can come sing my songs anytime and I will give him half the credit not 5% LOL
Lou..... Will There be any HD Audio/Video footage of any old Foreigner concerts?
Great job Dom ...
