His name is Mitch. When they won The Sing Off, Kirsty started to weep...She said she was not crying for herself...She was crying because it made her happy to know the world was going to get to hear Mitch sing.
I love your PTX reactions. I can tell you really are a fan. So nice to hear real singing. Thanks. PTX owns Christmas. And we’re coming up on the BEST Christmas we’ve had in years. Please play LOTS of PTX.
"Mary, Did You Know?" is a Christmas song addressing Mary, mother of Jesus, with lyrics written by Mark Lowry in 1984, and music written by Buddy Greene in 1991. I agree their rendition of "Oh come all ye faithful" is a great choice as well as their cover of John Lennon's "Imagine". In fact anything they sing is wonderful. Early music has Avi Kaplan as bass and he was replaced by Matt Sallee. Keep staying in that rabbit hole!
The Five Faces of New Pentaholics 1. The most common is the Mitch Slapped. Commonly found when Mitch is heard for the first time in Hallelujah, The Prayer, Can You Feel the Love Tonight, Creep and doing Aha! at the Star Vista. 2. The Wide Eyed Look of Disbelief. Normally found when you hear their Wall of Sound. Found when listening to Mary Did You Know, Imagine, Amazing Grace, The Prayer, Mad World and the Avalanche or Tsunami of O Holy Night. 3. The I Didn’t Want It to End face. Most commonly found after listening to the 90s Dance Medley. It can also be found after listening to all their medleys and evolutions. 4. The Teary Eyed Look. This is commonly found when listening to an emotional song of theirs or just the sheer beauty of their work. Commonly found when listening to Mary Did You Know, Hallelujah, Amazing Grace, Imagine, The Prayer, Prayers for This World, O Holy Night and most especially Thank You. 5. The What Did I Just Hear Face. Happens when Pentatonix starts strong, or when you hear a really special note or Kevin sound. Is usually accompanied by rewinding the video or song to make sure your ears really heard what they heard. Those times are too many to list, but the most common rewind at the start moment is the beginning of Sound of Silence.
I'm Jewish, but this song gets me every time. It's such a beautiful arrangement, and they sing it with such sweetness and tenderness. The young lady is Kirstin Maldonado, and the guy whose voice you like so much is Mitch Grassi. Kevin Olusola is the beatboxer with the sweet falsetto.
One of my favorites … but I can say that about so many of their songs! One heads-up for you as you go deeper into PTX: You may find the videos being challenged by UA-cam for copyright reasons. Other reactors have had success by obscuring the visuals with text or a filter (raindrops, stars, fireworks) and by pausing more frequently. Please be assured that we don’t mind at all if you find you have to do this. We’re here to experience your reaction to a group we really adore. I am loving being here with you for this exploration! Well done. Peace …
The thing I love with Pentatonix is the music invokes an emotional or even spiritual response from within. At least for me. Thanks for letting us see you enjoy and feel the depth of the song, it's lovely to see people caught on the ride of emotions too!
They do have original music. I love their original song Sing. Great fun and uplifting message. Different style also. Lyrics written by Mark Lowry in 1984 and music by Buddy Greene in 1991. Originally recorded by Michael English in 1991. Easily one of my favorite Christmas songs. Loving your enthusiasm as you discover more of the phenom of PTX.
I am so glad you got to this one. I love your reactions to PTX. Welcome to all the great things that are Pentatonix. You are a full fledged Pentaholic ❤❤❤
Great reaction! This a remix of an older song! This is my favorite Christmas song!! They are so good! You should check out some “Homefree” which are great as well! And try a little “RUSH”! Be well and God bless… from Texas!!
i'm obsessed with the background vocals. pentatonix just makes me feel..they got me through the pandemic. its like a stress release. i'm enjoying your reactions and hello from an old lady in durham, nc.
This is not one of their originals, but I'm not sure when it was written. It's one of my favorites, though! I also think that you would be blown away by their version of O Come All Ye Faithful! Kevin (the beatboxer) did the arrangement as an homage to his Nigerian father. Believe it or not, this "Christmas Carol" will make you want to dance!!!
When they filmed the video they placed Kirstie so her head would be backlit giving her the Virgin Mary halo effect. They are very meticulous in everything they do, the arrangements, videos, mixing, all of it. Nothing is an accident.
PTX has a habit of taking songs that you think you know, rearranging them, and presenting the same words and melody in a new way. Lots of good suggestions here. Welcome to the family of Pentaholics.
From the wikipedia article "Mary, Did You Know" - "Mary, Did You Know?" is a Christmas song addressing Mary, mother of Jesus, with lyrics written by Mark Lowry in 1984, and music written by Buddy Greene in 1991." and "The lyrics evolved from a series of questions that Lowry scripted for a Christmas program at his church: I just tried to put into words the unfathomable. I started thinking of the questions I would have for her if I were to sit down & have coffee with Mary. You know, "What was it like raising God?" "What did you know?" "What didn't you know?"
PTX are great at modernizing old classics. Even The 12 Days of Christmas sounds Great! Mitch'es voice is so special because not only is is beautiful but also grabs your soul. I can listen to him sing all day long.
Hey Brother this is an old song but my god did they sing it beautifully I love your reaction to it I felt what you were feeling and I needed this. So thank you and I love you keep up the good work ❤
Close to my heart and as a Pentaholic it is so spesial that our Pentatonix did this. This is so exceptional. Needed this tonight. You are so appreciated. Greetings from South Africa
I first heard this song at church. The brother of our choir director was presenting this song at his own church where he too was a choir director. It was instant awe and love for me.
Mitch is the small guy with the angelic voice he battles cancer so sometimes he’s big sometimes small but his voice never waivers the guy with the beats is Avi he was an original member but he left the group he was the bass the deep voice he was replaced by the new black guy Matt now he’s the new bass and Nate is the best boxer sound guy he’s musical all around he has his masters also and yes he can sing too and Kirsten she just changes her hair color but always the same girl great voice also
Love Me When I Don’t was mostly written by Kirstie if you wanna check out one of their originals. It’s about mental health & having your person lift you up in the times when you can’t. And it was recorded live on the Kelly Clarkson show, but they did some editing with the video itself.
This song was written by Christian comedian and singer Mark Lowrey.. He actually did a recording of this song with the acapella group Voctave..you should react to that one as well..
You need to watch Aha! Singapore Live at the Star Vista, because you haven't heard ANYTHING yet. It's a live performance and what Mitch does in that song is just unreal. As an aside, the video's unofficial title is "Where's Kevin?". You don't actually see him in the video, but you can definitely hear him. Now that you've met PTX, I'd like to introduce you to VoicePlay. Another mind-blowing a cappella group. They often do harder stuff than PTX, like 'Dream On', 'Nothing Else Matters', Seven Nation Army', and 'In the Air Tonight' to name a few. You will love them. I watch so many reactions that my rule of thumb has always been to subscribe if I watch more than three videos by one creator. I found your channel yesterday. I'm already subscribed. I love the way you clearly feel the music. It touches inside you as it does me. Loving the channel and looking forward to more.
You should also check out Home Free. Home Free is another a cappella group, but a little country focused. They have a tremendous Beatboxer as well. Home Free won Season 4 of The Sing Off. Pentatonix won Season 3.
I enjoy when I see someone discover new artist and music. Please give a listen to a couple others Morissette Amon Rise Up Akin ka na lang Secret love song KZ Tandingan Rollin in the deep Royals Angelina Jordan I put a spell on you Easy on me Bohemian rhapsody
This was a VERY BIG issue in the Catholic community, so it is not new or an original. Many Catholics felt that of course she knew because he was a product from the Virgin Mary. Now get to Kevin's arraignment of O Come All Ye Faithfull for African vibe. If you listen to "Can't Hold Us" for rap, listen to the words and environment. Kirstie talks about Broadway because she was in "Kinky Boots" and Mitch has a line "thats what you get when Texas raised ya" as the Trio grew up together in Arlington, TX. It opens with Kevin lead in a church as he is religious and observes the Sabbath. Avi's nature created on top of the mountain (Griffith Park in Los Angeles) and this cave scene is the old TV show Batman. The Hollywood sign is also in Griffith Park.
If you really want a new spin, you have to watch their incredible rendition of O Come All Ye Faithful!!
YESSS!

The most joyous version of the song EVER! ❤
His name is Mitch. When they won The Sing Off, Kirsty started to weep...She said she was not crying for herself...She was crying because it made her happy to know the world was going to get to hear Mitch sing.
Awwww❤
I probably would have said the same thing!!! Mitch's voice is definitely a gift for us all!!!
I had heard Mitch was not confident in his voice……what!?? He is so unbelievably talented!!! We have been blessed to hear and enjoy his voice! ❤️
@@Anna-xx1lv FACTS!
She used to protect him in school from bullies.. that's why they are so close

I think so, too!! I love it ❤

Mark Lowery of the Gaither Vocal Band wrote the song in 1984. You can search for him singing it.
I know he's performed it with another a cappella group, Voctave - should be easy to find that one.
Luv Marks version with Voctave another wonderful Acapella group

You should check out their new version of "O'Holy Night", it is the one appearing on your screen at the end of this song.
Please listen to Run To You by Pentatonix. It's truly the epitome of beauty.

Recommend their cover of Rather Be.

Please react to The Prayer.
Please react to kiss from a rose!
Some trivia that has nothing to do with anything about this video, the cave they are in, is the bat cave from the 60's tv show with Adam West.
⚡⚡🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥⚡⚡
Mary did you know is a Christian song sbout 10yrs old. They did a cover of it.
The original bat cave they singing in
I am not sure why the closed caption for the song does not match what is being sung.
It's always been that way. One assumes PTX must know about it but have just left it that way.
They're good, but to me, the best is Kenny Roger's and Wynonna Judd version
