  • Here's a look at a new addition to my Sprint 2 "Get my Drift" project. The stock HPI Sprint 2 chassis is "un-exciting" at best being plastic and very flexible. The added issues with belt rub on the top plate and initially (Version 1) solid chassis under the diffs, there was a much need for an upgrade. That's where Exotek Racing steps in! Exotek has engineered the Sprint SPX Pro Carbon Chassis Set to solve all of the problems and get some great looks as an added bonus. In this video, I will show the differences between the stock and SPX, how it looks during the install and the final product.
    Here's where I got it and some info from Exotek:
    www.exotekracin...
    Carbon fiber pro chassis conversion for the Sprint2 Flux, Sprint2 Drift and Sprint!
    US made high quality 2.25mm thick carbon fiber.
    Improved design eliminates the front belt from rubbing the top plate.
    Improved design has open diff access at the bottom of the chassis to eject road debris. The open holes helps keep the debris from damaging the rear and front belts.
    Lightweight but durable top and bottom plates included.
    Designed to still flex enough to help generate stability but stiff enough for responsiveness.
    Narrowed design for improved cornering- less chassis scrub on the sides helps improve traction while cornering.
    Includes carbon fiber front bumper brace.
    Not for use with soft case lipos packs.
    Requires HPI Sprint2 kit.

      Nice! The Sprint 2 was a great car with just some small upgrades. I took it to the limit though with the CF and all of the add ons I did for drifting

      The Exotek is great! It really is very well crafted. I have fully installed and not put on a clear chassis tape on the underside. Batteries are charged and I'm ready to go!

      The Sprint 2 is a great platform, but you will be shocked at how flexy the stock chassis is when you replace it with the Exotek

    good morning rich,i watch ur videos for help & advice THANK YOU.i have a question for you but before that i must say that i am disabled & my hands & fingers dont work very well but i do try,ive watched ur you tube video about changing to a carbon fibre chassis BUT I DONT FEEL CONFIDENT ENOUGH TO DO IT then i looked on exotech website & thay say just undo all the screws under neth the chassis & theres a picture that shows everything still holding its self together & then re screw to the carbon fibre chassis,now the web site says it takes 5 minutes to change SO I THOUGHT I WOULD ASK UR ADVICE PLEASE ? are thay telling porky pies lies ?,OR IS IT EASY ?thank you andy timson

    • @TheRCNetwork
      @TheRCNetwork  8 років тому

      +Andrew Timson It really is that easy. When I did mine, I flipped over the existing chassis and started unscrewing the screws. when you're unscrewing, keep the screws in order - I usually lay them out on the bench mimicking the layout of the chassis. Once you're done unscrewing, remove the terrible flexy stock chassis and lay the new Carbon Fiber chassis. Start screwing the same screws back in. Make not of anything that's going into aluminum/metal to use thread lock on those. It's super simple! Take your time and refer to my video if you need a reference - That's why I did the video

    what shocks are you running? And also is there a website where I can get a complete replacement set of hex screws to replace the stock philips?

    • @TheRCNetwork
      @TheRCNetwork  9 років тому

      +Malik They're Tamiya "TFR" shocks. They're not the most recent versions (I think the new ones are silver and blue) but they're hands down the best touring shocks out there. Very smooth! As for hex screws, there's a company called "Hexscrews" and they do have a kit.......I ended up tearing my Sprint 2 carefully notated the sizes and hit my local shop for the sizes. There's only about 3 sizes that are repeated alot.

    • @pre3tiboii
      @pre3tiboii 9 років тому

      The RCNetwork Awesome, thanks man! And one more basic question, do you know where I could get replacement camber links? I lost two of mine doing a speed run. I know I can get the rod ends separate but if I can just get a hole set of links all together that would be grand.

    • @TheRCNetwork
      @TheRCNetwork  9 років тому

      Malik. Not sure on that one. I'm sure HPI has some replacement links, but I'm sure if you get the sizes, you can find a local shop that has them. Then upgrade to the RPM rod ends.

    Could i build a sprint race 2 chassis completely out of the best after market parts to save pissing around with the take this off and put this back shenanigans.

    • @TheRCNetwork
      @TheRCNetwork  5 років тому +1

      joe chadburn yeah, sure. But why not look into a legit drift/touring chassis like a Yokomo or such? The Sprint2 is a way old design. There’s been engineering improvements since.

    You should really glue the carbon fibre along the sides so it won't split on you in a crash.

      They're TRF shocks from Tamiya. Pretty much the goto shock for touring cars. Here's the first link I could find: www.rcplanet.com/Fluorine_Coated_Damper_p/tam53571.htm?gclid=CjwKEAiAt4mlBRDXwt_m9ICU4DcSJAAS_X0Wkv6DoqHB-b4EPgQY-wz8LwQd92SGLcQQzYF5pr2xohoC5XPw_wcB

    • @TheRCNetwork
      @TheRCNetwork  8 місяців тому

      Yeah, sure....I've always used the thicker universal sheets from Team Associated and others for chassis protectors. You pretty much stick it down and with a razor, trim off the excess.
