What an incredible video!!! I'm learning the hard way that I need to sell what people want and not what I LIKE. Some bestsellers I've seen are designs I WOULD NEVER be caught dead in 😅 but it's what sells!
More POD gurus need to be teaching this instead of "make more and they will come".
You are so right!! Is all about the customer :) And for me is the same. Nothing I sell I like but is what my customers like so I keep making it :)
Thank you so much for the inspirational words! most need it!
Anytime! We all need it at times :)
I WENT FROM NOT BELIVING IN MY SELF TO DELUSIONALY BELIVING IN MY SELF. LIKE THOSE PICTURES IN YOUR BACKGROUND.THATS WHAT I DO WRITE INSPIRATIONAL QUOTES AND POEMS DID IT FOR YEARS AS A HOBBY UNTIL I REALIZED PEOPLE EMOTONAL COULD RELATE TO MY WRITING AND THOUGHTS SO NOW IM BEGINER MAKING A BUSSINESS OF IT AND WRITING A BOOK I STARTED IN 2018 AT SAME TIME. IM NOT CHASING MONEY IM HOPING FOR IT BUT REALY IM CHASING THE VISION❤
Great information! I’m so glad this video came up in my feed.
So happy you enjoyed it :)
I think a big part of this is people want a way to measure their progress before making sales. Amount of listings is something they can control that is easy to understand.
I think a checklist video for beginner sellers to use for each design session would be helpful. That way they could change the paradigm from quantity to research based and quality more easily.
@@fromteaching2pod I get it and of course giving a checklist or even an amount is something we can all control. But is also the reason why I don’t like do it because what happens when you check all of the boxes and you still have no sales. And I know getting out of that is hard to do but this business model is hard to put it inside of a box :)
@@stupideasypod I worked in marketing for so long that everything sort of fits into a box to me as everything comes down to views and conversions. If no sales and no views, could be an SEO/design/mockup problem, and if views but no sales, I would say it's a listing/pricing/lack of social proof issue.
My mental checklist at least lets me know that my design was based off research, targeted proper keywords, used trending mockups, etc.
Through all of this, you are absolutely right - mindset matters! I have had to develop major resilience as a result of doing Etsy and POD especially. Hope it makes sense what I'm trying to say.
My view is just to keep trying. If anyone laughs at me for trying then those people are morons. Trying is not a laughing matter. Trying can lead to success whereas giving up means you lose by your own fault.
Great outlook :)
Thank you for such inspirational words, I love it ❤🙏
@@mayrag6019 No problem :)
Wow! Very inspirational and real advice! This is a great video! Thank you,I am fired up! I love your videos!
Awww thank you!!! And you got this :)
im so grateful for people like you the etsy coaches but im giving it a good 1 year of effort then im done if nothing even after all this learning and changing and researching ....
You got this!
That song you mentioned was from Switchfoot :) love that band. Great video!
Thank you!! I didn't remember the band name but I love that song :)
Thank you ❤
:)
Thanks for the motivation. I really needed this
You are so welcome!
Thanks for turning the light bulb on…. I never thought about it that way but it’s so true: why would someone buy from me a new seller vs a top seller when we are selling the same design. Of course you’d buy from the person with 1000 sales.
Exactly!! That's why research comes in handy and not just looking at 1-3 bestsellers :)
I got what I needed thanks
:)
Before I started POD this year, I am only one ☝️ person in my family because that person do Etsy for selling items. I will not tell anyone else.
Great idea :) I did the same. At times is better to just work in silent :)
@@stupideasypod It does feel more peaceful.
Great video, I have a quick question..If I am opening a brand new POD apparel store on Etsy this month, should i focus on only 1 niche and 1 product type (t-shirts) OR Should I focus on multiple niche (10+) and multiple product types within the same category (like sweatshirts, hoodies, tank tops, t-shirts, hats)?
Congrats on opening your shop.. I like to focus on one product at a time and get really good at that product and then add the designs that worked to other products if it makes sense. As far as niches. I also like to make sure I focus on 1-3 niches max at a time to learn those niches and really figure out what works for those. Hope that makes sense. I have a ton of videos in which I break these down too.
@@stupideasypod thanks a lot! Would you focus on Sweatshirts rather t-shirts since we are approaching Q4 Or do you recommend focussing on t-shirts only for now?
@@Om-gg5tk This is up to you.. They both sell all year round. Of course sweatshirts will pick up now since the weather is getting colder.
I'm starting a POD for myself. I just bought a laptop and am signing up with internet today..... I also want to help a friend display his original prints. Should I post them on my store or should I help him open up a store for himself?
Glad you decided to take your own step. As far as selling original prints. Make sure people on Etsy are also looking for those items because if nobody is looking for it or want is. It is going to be hard for your friend to make money. ANd I would start my own shop :) Best of luck!
and yes i myself am my own negative nancy 😂
You can do it!! But you have to get out of that mindset :)
This did not help at all.
Thank you for the feedback!! And sorry to hear that the video didn't help you!
@@stupideasypod It's just that your experience is great, but the only thing you talk about is mindset, and I need nuts and bolts advice. Thanks
