Spencer Foresman Hates Our "Roller Coaster Bike"

- We challenged our friend @SpencerForesman to try and roll our crazy "Roller Coaster Bike" and it turned out to be a very difficult challenge for him! He started out all excited to land it but it quickly turned into a bad idea.. He tried it a couple times and started having issues using the clipless pedals and then it was all downhill from there. He eventually quit and we decided to teach another first timer how to do it!
I still think a Fuf to back-roll would be the sickest possible thing ever. Unbelievably scary and maybe not possible, idk, but I'm gonna keep commenting it in hopes they see it!
When is BK, cory, vinny and the others making an appearance? Is there plans for them to come over? Be nice to see them in the videos again

They are all on their mid 30s with jobs and families you probably won't see them until Scott goes back to Jersey during the summer.
Such an amazing video! We need longer videos with all of you guys together. Spencer came so close to landing it and I think he should get a rematch with fixed clips! Congrats to Will for landing it!
From watching this, and past vids, the key is to keep the body in the same position throughout the roll, in the centre of the circle.
You can see Spencer's body moving all over the place, which is affective the circular motion. Once the roll has commenced he leans towards the back of the bike (I guess a natural reaction), then he gets thrown to the top of the bike when its upside down (legs are near enough straight), then thrown backward to the back again as the roll comes around. Matty keeps his body dead centre, once the roll has started.
agreed, he is fighting the spin with the way he is shifting his weight, yep ,the other guys keep their bodies stiff witch fully relies on momentum to complete the turn, but i think there is a higher level were you shift your weight in way that assist's the spin and with that you don't need momentum ,you just need enough riding to establish balance
@@6lake. But if that weight is in the centre of the circular motion, it shouldn't have too much affect. When its off centre, or even worse, changing it's off centre position, it effects the motion.
I was just about to say the same thing, he's trying to throw it around too hard I think rather than let the geometry of the bike do the work.
@@6lake. Will looks pretty big, but the big difference is that they keep their body tight.

This was an awesome video, you could tell Will was pretty nervous about riding the roller bike but damn he pulled it off and didn’t back down to a crash or two, legend for that Will!
nobody falls like spencer. I say that with all the respect. its great how he can just pop up so fast after what looks like a gnarly wreck
There may be better pedals out there, but from my experience riding / racing mountain bikes, I would say that mike is prime candidate for a set of EggBeaters ... Crank Brothers. The WILL NOT release unless you twist to a certain angle. It will rip the cleat off your shoe first.
Also, I think they offer different angle cleats so that you can choose what angle they release at. It has been a lot of years, so I forget the details, but that bike needs a set of eggbeaters.

Looks to me like Spence tried to yerk it around with his legs while upside down. If he just let the wheel do its thing and not move he would've gotten it np. Respect for even trying that.
As a Husky man, it is hard to suspend huskiness in this manner. Get Matty to try it with another guy his size on his back. Guaranteed it will look similar to Spencer's attempts.

Keep an eye on that leg Matty. I had something similar happen to me and it ended up being a torn gastrocnemius or the calf. It was my worst injury. A lot of rehab and therapy to treat it. Hopefully it’s not that.
Spencer drops and hangs from his feet. Matty holds himself in a more crouched position
Matt's gravel riding helps out with that contraption. Note how Matt doesn't get thrown about because his use to locking his body in that nose down arse up position standing up going down rough terrain on basically a road bike.
Those clips weren't tightened down enough for the Husky Nation

Looking the the design, what if you made a form of "training wheels".
From the back threads have them like pegs that then match the curve and meet up like an upside down v?
Would be difficult to put of the front without limiting steering but the back would help for the landing.

sorry, I got busy moving my life down to Fl.. There is so much "non BMX/UA-cam" stuff that we have been working on that just getting back to consistent videos again is a big win for me. I'm trying to do the right thing by not pushing CSD until I am fully committed again but I'm hoping it will be soon!

I don't know what it is, but the last few videos have been so good! I find myself actively cheering y'all on and literally raising my arms in celebration when success is finally achieved.
Matty i had a nerve pinched in my lower back.. probably not your case but you can try what helped me. lay on your back, foot that hurts in the air and use a resistance band to crank down your foot towards you it feels good.
How about strap pedals for people? I think that could really work cause the hold would be on the top of the foot? Maybe?

My buddy had that happen to him when he had leg surgery they cut the nerve and it's called drop foot and it literally grows about a millimeter a year so it takes a long time to fix itself

He's trying to use his body too much compared to matt. Matt is locked in and Spence is yanking his feet when he should be keeping his legs at the same angle.

Matty's leg issue sounds like drop foot to me, I'm no doctor but I've had drop foot... If he sits with his legs crossed, that's probably the main problem...
How's sitting with legs crossed cause "Drop Foot?" I've heard of fallen arches but never that in my 43 years.
It happens due to the weight of one leg pushing down on the knee of the other leg, that downward pressure cuts off the pathways for the nerves to pass through...
