Kitesurfing in Haakgat, Cape Town - Big waves - Jan 2011

This year Cape Town has not seen a lot of larger waves so everyone was excited when 4 metre swells we're predicted a couple of weeks ago. Most of the Blouberg kitesurfers headed down to Haakgat, just north of Big Bay and the conditions definitely delivered. The waves were not perfect, sometime closing out and not as powerful as expected but the 30 riders on the water seemed to have a great time and we managed to get some great footage.
Stand out riders for us were Abel Lago, RRD team rider, out testing the new kit along with team mate and local boy Luke McGillewie who got some great riders. There were also a couple of local unknown riders who were getting some nice turns in too.
