Could Austin Reaves Really Be a STAR!? | NBA Future Stars

- It isn’t uncommon for a fan favorite player from the Lakers to get an extreme amount of hype. Due to the size of the market, media coverage, and the intensity of their fans, players that put together a few highlights in LA tend to get prematurely pushed as a great player. However, with Austin Reaves I think Lakers fans may actually be on to something. I saw him play a few times for the Lakers this most recent season, and he impressed me. What really has drawn my interest though is his performance for the US FIBA National Team. The reason I have been so intrigued by what I have seen is, anyone can have a little bit of success if they end up in the right system for them, and maybe that was Reaves and the Lakers. But when you see that same guy still standing out when playing with multiple all star level guys, that’s when you start to think, oh, maybe it isn’t JUST the system. Maybe this guy really is legit. So with that, I decided now is as good of a time as ever to evaluate Austin Reaves’ game. We are gonna look into what he provides on the court, and what I think he can truly be in the long term sense.

What I keep thinking is "Solid" He's so solid in every part of the game past with a high IQ honestly.
Facts. Doesn’t have many major weaknesses at all
Manu's the guy that came to mind for me as well. Manu for those drives to the basket. Reminds me of a combination of Manu and Brian Shaw (distribution, poise, and rebounding). I hated losing Caruso but Reeves, that next season, eased that pain.
I’ve been following Austin since his rookie year and his first game against the suns, I believe he’s going to become an all-star for the first time in 2024 and he’s going to become a superstar! There’s literally nothing he can’t do! He’s got it all! 🤩 ⭐️
Amazing content bro this breakdown is unbelievable
Great analysis
He basically seems like a white Manu Ginolbili, a glue guy on a great team but still a star on a lesser team. He's not going to pile up ridiculous stats but he's going to be extremely versatile and valuable in many ways on both sides of the court. He's a solid overall athlete, not the biggest, fastest, strongest, etc. but athletically strong in all areas and capable of filling three positions (point guard through small forward) with success. He's been given larger roles and more responsibility and risen to the occasion in all instances. His game seems designed to age well as it's based on superior conditioning, which will also protect him and likely keep him healthy and more durable as well. He's not a franchise talent but a valuable jack of all trades.
Agree with it , but... isn't Ginobili white enough?🥵🥵
@@Hec2023 Exactly. If you go by blood/ancestry only, Manu is probably pure white or Caucasian. 97% of Argentinians are either full European or partial European by blood. Uruguay is next with 90% of their population being full European or partial European.
Nice video! Though, some of the things you said are not exactly right.
You said he went undrafted because he was rated very low. That's not exactly true. The Pistons wanted to draft him at 42. But Austin told them he didn't want to join Detroit and wanted to go undrafted because he had an understanding with the Lakers which told him they would give him a 2-way contract if he went undrafted.
Secondly, you said he is not a playmaker by trade. That's wrong, he played PG most of his life. He is a playmaker by trade. He just didn't have the opportunity in the last few years.
Masterful breakdown. Thank you.
I will save this video and comment in a year or a few years, when he becomes a all star player.
Reeves is the real deal.
*Reaves
MANU & KOBE were the best 2nd/3rd year players I EVER seen as the 3rd option
He already is
What u Saud
He is pretty great tbf
He wasn't undrafted. He opted out of being drafted so he could be a Laker. He's even said this. The Pistons were going to draft him, and he turned them down.
Reeve's swag is dollar tree Larry Bird without the passing.
Umm, that pass he made in game 1 in Memphis?!?! 😂
Reaves is what lonzo ball was suppose to be!!!
Not an all star, but important to their success. Kind of like the impact Byron Scott had on the Lakers in the 80's. Not the star, but very important person in the lineup.
To be clear, I'm saying that's his potential in my opinion. I'm not saying he's reached Scott's level of success or importance yet of course.
Who is better reaves or dlo
Tough question. Dlo is more skilled offensively but Reaves is a better role player. Does more of the little things and is solid at a lot of different aspects of the game. I’d prefer Reaves starting a team but it’s close
At their best, dlo, he’s a better scorer and just as good play maker, tho reeves is a more willing defensive player.
Reaves is more consistent than Dlo. When Dlo gets hot, there's no stopping him
Below average speed? I don’t think so!?
More like average speed & above average first step & wiggle
He's already one. 😂
AR's celling?... Steve Nash
That’d be insane to see
I get the same feeling every time he touches the ball. What is he going to do next? Like if I was an opposing fan? I would be like "Get the ball out of his hands!"@@hoophierarchy
Bro thought Austin reaves being nice was the system 😂I just find it crazy people needed the USA games to realize ar is goof
I mean, you never really know until you see someone out of the system. It’s not that seeing him in on the US team changed my mind, it just moreso confirmed the fact that he’s legit. I thought he was good beforehand
First mistake is reeves would have got drafted by Detroit but chose to go undrafted
You know that but you can't even spell his name right smh
Another player comp i have for him that isn't white lol would be eric snow...
Lakers probably going to trade him
I doubt it
Nah
