You're so right about holding the R2 button too long. I've been doing this for years and I tried to stop doing it. But always start doing it again without even realizing.
In fact, the main issue is that your opponent can also think of the first move you think of. therefore, apply the 2nd and 3rd alternative game plan depending on your opponent.
My only problem is first touch on aerial balls: players take for ever to put the ball down at a very slow pace while the opponent is pressing, by the time you want to play the pass the spaces are closed down. The player will chest, knee then put it down, three unnecessary touches at an extremely slow pace, and that is extremely annoying which goes hand in hand with lob balls that take ages to come to the ground

I played Rivals online today for the first time, what do you do when there's such a big input lag. You press the pass button and your player doesn't pass the ball until after 2 seconds!! Frustrating

I feel like dribbling is not that important this year and passing and basics are more improtant or maybe it's because I don't know how to dribble anymore lol. last year I used to dribble at least 2 defenders when i feel like it using agile dribbling and left stick. these days no one makes a mistake. no one touches left 4 backs. everyone defend patiently.. kinda boring gameplay but wcyd..
On PC even with my defence on balanced, 40 width, 44 depth my defenders seem to move out of the way of the opponent, the LB switching is unresponsive so I have had to start using right stick switching for the first time ever, and when I win the ball it feels as if I am playing against 4 humans there are players everywhere surrounding me and can't make a pass. I feel like I have never played a football game before in my life this year!

Can we get a proper tutorial on R1 dribbling. There’s some guys in d1 and elite that. Literally jus hold it and run thru the whole team. I have no idea how they do it
At this point I feel i need inputs from other players apart from the obvious mistakes I am making. Any folks interested in friendly games to help me out. BTW I am on PS5 Much appreciated.

I don’t know if you’re in élit division cuz trust me they don’t play. Those OGs will dribble you to death.
What about pressing l1+r1 and releasing just before you accept the ball, it gives a light feint touch creating space

It's easier with technical plus, I score a ton like that myself. Will make a tutorial soon
