When she said "There was a breakdown in society. We decided if we didn't leave Delhi at that point, we probably would get sucked into the system", that resonated so much with me! We are experiencing the same in the USA (and probably all over the world). Society is breaking down, and many of us are stuck on this hamster wheel of working in meaningless jobs, losing touch with our natural world, contributing little good to the future. I hope one day I can be as brave as them.
Its all bullshit. These guys are rich and that's why they are able to afford such things. You may blame system all you want but the system is only thing which is providing you money , hospitals , medicine , entertainment , your favourite food at your doorstep. These are just people with midlife crisis
I just left my psu job 2 years back and puchased a small 2 acre agricultural plot near my hone. I am doing a little work in pollutry and fishery. Though the income is less, but i am kind of happy now. There are lots of chores in a farm, i enjoy doing them. I have planted some 22 fruit plants, i enjoy watching them grow, i enjoy feeding my fishes in the pond and watching them fishes by standing still. I enjoy feeding my roosters and four goats and watching them run and jump bonkers in fun. I enjoy the company of my three featherbrained dogs who always create new tasks for me by chewing pipes, running among the vegetable beds. I enjoy watching my chickengrow in the sheds, and take care that they do not face any problem and stress. Though sometimes financial matters come to my mind and i think about my 2 year old baby(may be he will blame me for not getting him a new bike or something else because of financial restrictions), as my income has been kind of halved but still i will always prefer this life over my past life.
@peetri-vg4ndit's depend on many factors.. You should ask question in specific way... If someone gave you cheap land but in another state far from your home it is useless for you.. 😊
I’m sure your kid will be proud once he grows up & understand why you chose what you chose. Keep up the good work & all the best 🫡 Where is your farm btw ?
They are not living alone, their 37 yrs journey which is still going, has dogs, cats, cows, chicken and many other animals who depends on them & their farming. When everyone was busy in cities to compete with each other, these 2 were living the life which everyones dreams to live
It is the other way round. Humans are dependent. 🙂 We are dependent on dogs and cats who guards and protect us from dangers. Cows and chickens grow by itself in a place like this. Feeding is not necessary. And makes the soil fertile day by day. We just have to live around these creatures in a Nature surrounded place. # Sustainable Living
I still remember this couple came on a Kannada news channel 15 years ago. As college going boy I was astonished to see an Italian woman speaking Kannada fluently. I watch this couple once in a five years in a random UA-cam video and appreciate how well they are aging.
See, he is a coorgi/kodava. They have been cultivating forested lands for coffee, pepper etc for centuries. They are extremely brave and hard working people who have lived their lives in nature for generations. You might think he one fine day left the city and started farming but no, it's in their very genes. Do not try to emulate them without first understanding what this life is all about. It all looks sexy from the outside but the reality is very daunting and exhausting. I know because my parents still farm on a pretty large agriculture land and i know how hard it is and how unforgiving it is. It is best to first experience this life for a year maybe by leasing out a farmland or something.
It has to one’s passion for farming and i think i have it, this is my dream retirement if God lets me live longer, I have been growing in my little backyard area for a decade and i love it, not only growing little portions of our food but helping earth by recycling our compostable wastes in our tiny “farm”
This is a textbook example of sustainable lifestyle - doing their bit to leave a much better planet to live for their future generations! Much inspiring indeed ! 🌻
Agree completely with you..I have done this 13 years back.. today I am a farmer.. it was so refreshing to know about a great couple who were gutsy to drive their dream and successful in doing so..

Today I see so many stories of highly successful professionals get into farming. That this couple got into organic farming 35 years back shows their is really laudable. For someone that did not have an agriculture background, it’s so inspiring!!!
It was an era without the internet or open economy. Unlike today, there wasn't money in every profession. In such circumstances, people generally stuck to tried and tested means of generating livelihood. To have chosen such a unique life even in that era, despite being educated, would have certainly bestowed cult and celeb status to this couple, had it been today! Much appreciation, respect and my salute to both of you!

What an ideal farmer couple. Wish there were government programs in India to equip or encourage farmers to live this kind of life. This educated couple were willing to learn from the natives and able to give their children the right kind of schooling required for living and life skills and choices in their careers. This is real living.
😂 government need to do everything are you joke... They needed simple knowledge they don't had internet so they took help from local farmers that's not struggle...

Really its impressive. In jharkhand we are also doing natural farming. Now a days farmers are practicing chemical farming and it is very expensive. That is why we must do natural farming.
I think this video is incredibly inspiring and thanks to DTE for sharing these. However, I do have several questions after watching the video. How do city dwellers who seemingly have no connection to a land, get access to such huge acres (the land as mentioned belonged to tribals back then- how was this land with ancient ownership made available to people from Delhi)? Who are the farm hands here- local people or the erstwhile tribal people? How do the couple (or family) ensure that generational poverty or inequality get addressed through their moving there? Or do they just bring their inequalities from cities to villages or indigenous lands?
