  • You'll notice that there are LOTS of rest stops when you drive on a freeway in Korea. These rest stops are called 'hyugeso' in Korea, and they not only have restrooms, but they always have unique shopping experiences and of course, a huge variety of foods. They tend to have a lot of foods that are exclusive to, or most commonly found in hyugeso, so it is really a fun experience to tour one of these places at least once. In this video, I'll try many of the foods that they offer and show you guys what it is like to visit a rest stop in Korea. 😊

See Jimmy didn't like Jollibee chicken but it was in a polite way. Not like Benny Blanco spitting the food in front of the world. Criticism is very acceptable but disrespecting it like he's a 3 year old child when he's a grown up is not. Kudos Jimmy! You're great. ❤

Feeding a baby is a rewarding, but incredibly mind-numbing task.Thank you for helping pass the time with road trip snacks which seem to be a universal! Americans don't think our freeway snacks are super delicious either, but they're still a time-honored tradition and it was interesting to see the Korean version.
Now, I'm a bit disappointed though because I've been to one Korean rest stop on the way from Incheon to Sokcho, but I was on a bus and didn't have time to check the snack vendors out because it was so crowded.

Rest areas in Korea are so nice, AFAIK no other country does something similar. Italy might be the closest?
I believe rest area employees are paid pretty well and provided with room and board too, due to the location of these places and not many people owning their own cars. Probably the reason why prices here are more expensive than other locations, but it's great to have a clean area to eat at when you're on the road with plenty of food options outside of three or four chains.

Learn from my experience: if you don't speak fluent Korean and your native tongue is English...if you don't pay attention to the Korean phonetics, you may end up with the opposite product when ordering "hot dog" or "heottdok"...maybe the key is to just order both (both usually sold at the same stand). Enjoy 😂😅

Tipping culture in America started when black workers legally had to start getting paid so restaurant owners said customers could tip them as a way to get around the minimum wage requirement. To this day most servers in America rely on tips as their wage since their employers don’t pay the federal minimum wage

In fairness Jimmy, the high tip culture you experienced in the USA is due to the fact that restaurant owners are allowed by law to pay a tiny wage of about $10 per hour combined with tip. So actual cash is less than $10 possibly. So basically you are funding the restaurant owners payroll with tips. it's crazy, I know but this is what is behind it all. Only a very few restaurants are paying a proper wage now and eliminating tips. They did pass this increase onto their menu prices. I simply don't go out to eat hardly at all anymore. I live in NYC and it's just too crazy expensive and I love cooking so I make great food at home. Home cooked is healthier as well. This past weekend I made galbijim - less than half the cost of a restaurant and my ingredients are fresh and healthy. Win win

imagine if and only if you just quit and find another job and the chaos that ensues when no one wants to work results in actually getting wages that arent a joke and before you or anyone says oh man there's no jobs or something along those lines... there's always other jobs it's just do you want to work there i know people who quit toxic office jobs for factory or farm work and are way happier.

That comment about tipping got to me a bit, you wouldnt tip in a situation like this in America either. If they arent physically serving you at a table there is no need to tip. Now if a fast casual place gives you and extra big portion and hooks it up, then for sure give them an optional tip. Unfortunately too many American jobs are set up where you need to make tips to actually earn a decent paycheck. It should be changed, but thats how it is for now. Our economy is trash right now too, so that doesnt help. Cant believe how cheap the food is in this video.
