- In this Podia Tutorial I'm going to show you how to set up your first online course in Podia.
I like to recommend Podia for new course creators because you don't need to have your own website (you can make a sales page on Podia), it's easy to use, you can process payments on it, and it's relatively inexpensive.

Has the Podia sight changed since you created this video. I am struggling to follow your directions and have it match up to the Podia site. I am trying to create an online course and the buttons or features you used don't seem to be available.
I did not see any instructions on how to make a coupon. For instance Early Bird Special only good until July 15th coupon
Thank you for this tutorial :) Starting off with Podia too. I wanted to ask - is there any reason why you prefer to work with unlisted UA-cam video links, rather than uploading mp4 files? Or no particular reason? :)

Nice vid. But can we upload audio too? Audio is where it's at bc student can listen in the car or at the gym etc.

Also it did not cover what to do about collecting monthly monies? Do we need to connect strip or PayPal to it or does podia collect the funds by itself?
You will need to connect your payment processor :)

@@BrandyDudas They don't offer this you have to remove them on your own. Also one thing I just can't understand why they did this. Mark as complete by the buyer for the progress bar to move!!? This is crazy for guarantees. Just a normal progress bar is perfectly fine. Two of my guarantees are to protect the content. "If you've watched less than 25% of the content and within 30days and still are certain theres so much value in here for you I'll give your money back no questions asked." If they don't click a button after each video I don't know what they've watched.

Hi Brandy, I have a question. If you can help, it would be great. In my podia ac, I have uploaded a course. When I click on "view lessons" or preview video, the video comes up in a zoomed in, big size. I would prefer the video to be in a smaller , zoomed out, easy to view size. How do I fix the course video size on Podia? Thank you so much.

I don’t like to use a link cause students can share it. Can you upload a video instead of a UA-cam link?
Do you prefer using an unlisted youtube video versus just uploading it as an mp4 from your computer?
I personally do but others prefer to load it directly into their learning management system

Sorry I'm slightly confused, ... (I'm so tech savvy! lol) ... I'm just wondering if I can simply put my links in all 1 lesson. The one thing I don't like about Podia is that for 1 lesson it's all different sections for each part. (Hopefuly you'll understand what I mean!) Thanks! :)
You can totally do that! The only thing I would say is if they are separate videos you may want them as separate lessons so that someone could mark it as complete and track where they are :)
Thank you SO MUCH for this tutorial, Brandy, it helped me immensely to set up my course today. I have a question for you - I'm switching platforms mid-course (so many issues with the previous platform, user experience was terrible). I'm going to give them immediate access to Module/Week 1 and I'd like for them to get Module 2 - 3 days later. I had to send everyone a "forgot password" link to get them all registered - ANY IDEA if it's 3 days from when THEY first login? Or 3 days from when I set the "start date" for the course? Totally random question I know... :)
I’m pretty sure it is from the course start date/ when they enrol in the course (you can also double check this one with Podia chat - I use the chat help feature all the time!)
PS I’m sorry you had a bad experience with another platform- hopefully your students like this one better!

Brandy, wonderful video... i just have one question... since you give a link of UA-cam as your lesson video, the students can download it by using UA-cam Download software easily. Then how do you restrict them from downloading the videos?
The video shows inside podia so I don’t think the students have the link.
The other way you can upload the video directly to podia is by ADD CONTENT ➡️ FILE and then drag in the video file. However this is not going to fix the problem I think you are concerned about.
I think you are concerned with someone stealing your content and the truth is that most people have screen recording software so if they really wanted to take your video they would be able to.
You can add in language to your terms of use or copyright but honestly I just don’t worry about it.

I know it’s not the answer you wanted to hear but there’s really not a good way to control that particular risk in any platform (I used to be an auditor so I think a lot about this kind of stuff)
Any idea where to add my own terms and conditions so it shows up when people buy the courses?

Just saw your video for setting up an online course. Very informative. Like you, I also teach in college. I'm an art professor and I've been teaching 2 courses (Painting and Drawing) online with Canvas and Zoom for over a year now. I also need to redo my website right now and think this might be a good time to try and keep it under one umbrella where i can sell my courses and display a gallery and downloads. Any suggestions?
That's amazing! I love it when profs turn entrepreneurs! You CAN do this in Podia but I think it would be a lot of work setting up the gallery. Most people who have this type of set up have their gallery on shopify or something like that and then just a course platform separate. What are you currently using?

Previously, I've only had my work displayed on a gallery on my website, which is now debunked. Other than that, I've displayed work in actual walk-in galleries in cities. I'm just now considering where I want to display my work online.
Yes Brandy how do I change the color scheme of my course?
I believe you do this in the site editor (it’s the brand colour I think)
1. Access site editor
2. Look at the top of the site editor for ‘colours’
3. Change brand colour with the HEX code

You can definitely preview but I’m not sure if that is before or after you publish! You can use the chat feature in Podia to ask about this one (they are really good at answering questions!)

Hi Danny! I use Podia’s email platform when someone buys my course or I want to send an email specifically about course content. For regular weekly emails I use Flodesk :)

I keep my main site on Squarespace and then use Podia for courses/digital product sales pages

I'm not sure I understand your question... Once you publish it you go and sell it! And I don't believe there is a limit on the number of courses but I don't work for Podia so maybe check directly with them.

It’s a great idea to bring it online. I am not too familiar with the art industry but there is a site called Creative Market where designers and artists list their work I believe (some do this in addition to having it on their site)
