remind me of my previous dirtbike which is a kawasaki ksr 110 (very similar to the honda grom) and i change the tires to dirtbike tires change the sprockets remove some weights and it was so fun to drive until i blew the engine and sold it

those rubber things in the wheels are supposed to take up some if the jerk when dumping the clutch, its kinder to the engine. and yes, real bikes have them too, my zx9r has them, i think even my ktm sm has them.
If the Honda grom’s rims were 2 inches smaller and you swapped the engine for something like a predator 212, it would classify as a full suspension mini bike and you could legally enter it to the go power sports 180 race.

i had 2 bikes that used that rubber connector for the spoke and those freaking suck. on one bike i was lucky enough to find a hub that had the good old bolt option. and yes, both bikes where Chinese knockoffs. i cant remember the name of the first bike but the 2nd one was Skyteam PBR and that is a clone of Honda Monkey R

I have a Lifan GY-5, those grommets on the rear are starndard, they don't last. The Lifan itself tho, is more reliable than a Honda :) So much abuse, runs so hard!

Actual groms have the rubber inserts too. Actually most street going bikes do. It’s called a cushdrive. It lessens drivetrain shock.

Many different motorcycles use them. You can buy polyurethane versions to stiffen it up.

I always thought a grom could make a good offroad bike. Maybe if you extended the wheel base a bit it wouldn't be so wonky?
