  • Photographing and visiting the new eruption in Iceland was a fantastic experience. We embarked on a long hike to witness the mesmerizing eruption near a picturesque mountain known as Litli-Hrútur (Tiny-Ram). Nature painted the sky splendidly as the sun rose, casting an ethereal glow over the landscape. The light display was nothing short of awe-inspiring, leaving us spellbound in the presence of such raw beauty.
    In this video, we let the footage do the talking for us. We did our best to capture and photograph the untamed power of the erupting volcano. From the fiery lava flows to the billowing ash clouds, every frame showcases the sheer magnitude and intensity of this natural spectacle.

    Few people had masks…how toxic are the fumes so that some wear and some do not? Thank you for the spectacular videos. The Lord bless you and keep you safe.

      Good question! The smoke from the burning moss is often hard to handle without a mask, but hopefully the moss will stop burning and then the conditions will be less toxic. The gas from the lava can be really dangerous if you are downwind. Rule no 1 is to have the wind to your back. Sometimes it was not possible when hiking the long distance. Then the masks helped. It is possible to go without a mask as many did, but for safety a mask is good to have.

    those are properly equipped people! Where do you buy the gas masks? A lot of animal life will be lost during this eruption due to the fires and fumes.

      The masks can be found in some hardware stores. The birdlife there will be affected, but fortunately the area is big.

    Sometimes it's strange to think about how every piece of earth we stand on was once created in some way, shape, or form by volcanic activity. But then you look at a place like Iceland, and you just get it. ❤❤

    I think it is important that you document the people visiting the area. This puts context to our life on this planet and our experiences. Otherwise, this is just another volcano. They've been erupting for billions of years across the cosmos. As they say, if a tree fell in the forest and nobody was there, would it make a sound?

    • @GudmannAndGyda
      @GudmannAndGyda  Рік тому +2

      Correct. We find it important to see the people in the landscape. It is a big part of the experience.

    • @MrMortadeloyfilemon
      @MrMortadeloyfilemon Рік тому +3

      Absolutely. And I have to say, I was there, witnessing an eruption for the first time, and no amount of knowledge of expectations can prepare you for the feeling of seeing it up close and from the top of a hill. Life changing :)

    When we were there last year, they told us it's dangerous to walk in the lava rock field especially where the moss grows because of hidden pockets where the lava created small holes or caves in the ground. How did you walk around there safely? I wanted to do it so bad but I was scolded for trying it.

      The wind can help to keep the gas away, but a mask is a must if you have to walk through a gas area. The biggest danger comes when the wind is calm or in no wind conditions.

      I can recommend everyone having plans to go there to also read all the information to avoid disappointment or trouble
