they do have a relation as Ghana's largest ethnic group, the akans, the mande and guans wgo were the earliest settlers of mordern day day Ghana migrated from the old ghana empire
There is some direct relationship, that is the reason Kwame Nkrumah took that name. Current Akans lived through Ghana Empire to Mali to current country Ghana. Akans go back to the days of ancient Egypt.
There is misinformation in your first 65 seconds: Kwame Nkrumah didn't choose that name: it was a name suggested by JB Danquah and agreed to by the founding members of the new nation, led by Kwame Nkruamah. Secondly, it is errorneous to suggest the two countries have no connection. The Akans, who made up 60% of Ghana's population at independence and even now, migrated from the Old Ghana Empire to present day Ghana, Cote D'Ivoire and some parts of Togo. That is why the Founders of modern-day Ghana chose that name. Let's get it straight.
Would really appreciate some sources for that. Because I can always get better with better sources. From what I found Akan where from the south (modern ghana, togo, benin) while the Ghana empire really represents people from the north (moder mali, niger) adept with horses. Now no source I have can pin point exactly what people made up what percentage of the empire. Because the history got more complex over the years with the Mali and Songhai empires. Hope it makes sense, but looking forward to see your sources to add to my list. Thank you for watching 🙏🏿
@@infographicsafricaSikka(Gold dye. Arabic),Sika(Gold. Twi) sequin(Venetian Gold coin). The Akans have a great knowledge of goldmine and handling gold from the days of old and kept such tradition till this day. Can you kindly demonstrate other west African countries using the term sikka or sika(Gold). As Gold in Arabic is not sikka and the term doesn’t originate from Venetian. So where does the term other places who originate or has “connections”with the ancient Ghana empire with gold because the last I checked “Sika” is also a god worshiped along side other “old ancient” deities and is not a term or a name coined recently. Could you kindly answer as such question is only a tip on the iceberg and there’s over 100 evidences on precise matters as I have brought up.
@@infographicsafricaThere’s Akan proverbs about Gold. The tradition of gold is of ancient.adorning one’s self in gold burying the dead in gold. Matrilineal heritage the list actually goes on if I was to take it there. Down to even stories within the anansi tales. Basically you rejected the Ghana connection from the jump of your video so could you explain the tradition of dealing and specialising in gold were the Akans got it from. As there’s other west African countries who also have gold amongst them but for some weird reason the Akans champion themselves with the gold and venerate the gold from the days of old in a fashion that no other country or tribe does in west or north west Africa. Gold is apart of the Akan identity(Factually &Traditional). They Do originate from the ancient Ghana empire
Not quite...The Ghana empire is separate and distinct from modern nation Ghana. The Akan are not from Mauritania/Mali the region of the ancient Ghana empire. Obviously, there is a strong sentimental attachment to Ghana because it is the name of the country, so people try to create a link.
Akan people, even if they were part of Ghana empire, didn’t play a significant role. Everyone in Africa knows Mande tribes ( susu, mandinko, soninko, etc) were the major tribes under Ghana empire.
Keep up the good work!! This is the problem with we Africans. Everyone is addicted to tribal or ethnic supremacy. Even if they had to lie about history.
The Wagadou Empire is Mande Empire the Subgroup the Sonnike were the rulers in this nation. I don’t know why Akans from mordan day ghana keep saying they created this nation. We Mande have the names of the kings that ruled we still have their last names and we also use the writing script of the empire called the Vai script the Akan have nothing to do with this nation.
You are right, I’m Akan and we have nothing to do with this civilisation. It’s just that the name are being used so we don’t forget this incredible history. The names are far from Akan names.
@@Lisa-x5l7l The names of Ancient Egyptians are so far from African names yet Egyptologists agree on the fact that Black Africans built and run Ancient Egypt for the most parts and migrated to other areas of Africa today. People come on UA-cam pretending to give information but rather miseducate and misinform people. Did you ask the Ghanaians of today where they migrated from for you to say there's no direct relationship. Ghanaians can tell you their history all the way from Mesopotamia to Egypt to old Ghana Empire to present day Ghana. So don't miseducate people in the name of views.
If at least you could tell me what is the misinformation I shared… that would be interesting. But anyway, all my videos are based on research and books. The goal is to put a spotlight on my continent and give life to our stories. 🤷🏾♂️
The producer of this video relied solely on the account of Muslim writers. Where as there are numerous oral history which tracks the Akans history from Mesopotamia to present day Ghana. The Akan were so great that every place they reached, they are established a kingdom or an empire with Ghana empire being one.
@@infographicsafrica Books written by Europeans. Europeans never wrote that Kemet was named after a Yoruba man called Kemi. Kemi's mysterious ways of healing people and mixing his herbs gave us Kemi - mysteries(Chemistry) Before the Akan came from Mesopotamia to Northern Kemet(present Israel) and main Kemet, it was Yoruba people who owned it. That's why till date the Efa/efi power in West Africa still speaks Yoruba whether you use it in Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal, Ivory Coast, Togo or Benin. at the 1:24 mark I had to stop bc something doesn't sound correct. mathematically even. so I will have to research exactly what happened to these people and now exactly who are the people in the modern day Ghana. Im not saying they're tied but there is no was the modern day Ghana can have genetic ties and language to the Fulani and others who lived in that land who now live in the current day Ghana but that land having zero ties if ties are a human connection thing. Something is fishy or not researched well. That said thanks.
@Infographics Africa Great piece. I just have 1 qualm though, Bro: The Soninke and all other Mandé groups are one in the same. Soninke = Mandé. Please stop separating the two, as that supports a false narrative spun by non-Africans. The Soninke were the first Mandé group that united all other Mandé tribes under Wagadu as a confederal "empire". Also, though we Mandé get a lot of credit for influencing West African Civilization; we should remember the Lake Chad Region. They too played an integral role in helping to spur civilization in West Africa. The diverse groups that inhabited the banks of the Niger river also made a great deal of contributions outside of Wagadu's sphere
Yes!! I was starting to think I was crazy. But what you are saying seems extremely accurate. I will do more history of the civilization around lake chad and niger river soon 🤞🏿 thanks for watching and sharing!

why do foreigners continue to exclude Akan people from Gana. I swear it must be a conspiracy. 😂Because the story some Akan klans tell are very different. Akans are not native to that location we call Ghana today So where do the Akans come from? oral migratory maps place some of us in Koumbi Saleh we were there for about 400-500 years and as far as Nubia now Sudan. Some Klans and there’s many in the Akan tribe have stories that link them to that part of the world they called Assyria. That history is there. They should 😂! Thx for watching
A the images accurate?
Most of the images are generated by artificial intelligence
Hi
There is some direct relationship, that is the reason Kwame Nkrumah took that name. Current Akans lived through Ghana Empire to Mali to current country Ghana.
Akans go back to the days of ancient Egypt.
Thanks for sharing and watching ! I learned that in the comments
Very true
@@infographicsafrica”The Akans was from south”. What do you mean???
It seems pretty clear in my research 😂 but historians on UA-cam disagreed. 🙏🏿 thank you for sharing
I really agree with this 🙏🏿 thanks for sharing
You are right, I’m Akan and we have nothing to do with this civilisation. It’s just that the name are being used so we don’t forget this incredible history. The names are far from Akan names.
@@Lisa-x5l7l the confusion amongst Akans is becoming strange. I've even heard some claiminf to have migrated from ancient Egypt
@@Lisa-x5l7l The names of Ancient Egyptians are so far from African names yet Egyptologists agree on the fact that Black Africans built and run Ancient Egypt for the most parts and migrated to other areas of Africa today. The Akans migrated from the Empire which was ethnically diverse. Are you saying only one ethnic group lived in this vast empire?
It was J . B Danquah that choose the name not Kwame Nkrumah. Please make sure your sources are accurate.

Wow! So current Ghana has no direct relation with The ancient Ghana empire?why then do they claim the Akans in current Ghana migrated from there?
Great content though👍
Africa
Recent Ghana are gGana empire they move to this present day they are the Akans …people of chiefs and kings

The fact that present day Ghana has nothing to do with ancient Ghana is insane.
The location

thank you
Got it fixed for the next videos. Sorry about that 😕. Thank you for watching 🙏🏿
Kemi's mysterious ways of healing people and mixing his herbs gave us Kemi - mysteries(Chemistry)
Before the Akan came from Mesopotamia to Northern Kemet(present Israel) and main Kemet, it was Yoruba people who owned it. That's why till date the Efa/efi power in West Africa still speaks Yoruba whether you use it in Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal, Ivory Coast, Togo or Benin.
Europeans have distorted our history to hide us and project themselves.
You have a point, the books I read are from Europe. And we all know Europe distorted many facts about african history. So I am happy that at least we can clarify some of our thoughts here in the comments. I can’t have access to oral history from everywhere but I can share and then reflect on what I am hearing for better content. Now, can you share more sources on what you’re claiming? It could be useful for my research and next videos. Really appreciate the conversation
Actually JB Danquah choose the name Ghana
Interesting. Didnt know him will look into it. Thx for watching
@@infographicsafricaBut some how you know who came up with the name Ghana ??? 🤷🏿♂️.
at the 1:24 mark I had to stop bc something doesn't sound correct. mathematically even. so I will have to research exactly what happened to these people and now exactly who are the people in the modern day Ghana. Im not saying they're tied but there is no was the modern day Ghana can have genetic ties and language to the Fulani and others who lived in that land who now live in the current day Ghana but that land having zero ties if ties are a human connection thing. Something is fishy or not researched well. That said thanks.
Africa history is told not written. Mathematicians are often not oral historians. Thank you for watching
@Infographics Africa
Great piece. I just have 1 qualm though, Bro:
The Soninke and all other Mandé groups are one in the same.

By the way “Akan” as it is spelt and pronounced means absolutely nothing in the Twi language. 😂
Try this experiment. Find any twi speaker and say “Akan” we would look at you with the awkwardness. The pronunciation of that word, the history behind it is also there. Please get your Black history from Black People. 😂 in my Klan(Eguafo) which is part of the kingdom of Fante, it’s necessary to spend time with your elders/family heads. before you know it traditions have been passed down to you without even knowing.
