I play these (the maple) drums for two years now and I think they are the best I've ever had! And I have owned a lot of brands like Ludwig classic maple, Yamaha maple absolute, Tama Superstars etc etc.. Tuningrange is incredable, from highpitched jazztunings to solid rock low, it does everything! Very well build and also the hardware is top of the bill! And the price is about a third of what you pay for a DW, check DS out!
That kit has an outstanding sound. Full, rich, and deep. I can't believe the "low punch" these drums have! I've heard of the DS brand, but not actually "heard" a set till now. lol. In America so I guess they don't advertise like the "other" main brands do? Well, they should because I'm seriously impressed with these drums. Boy, isn't "right now" the best time to be a drummer with the quality and innovation being offered by the many brands of drums these days? Proof competition is a good thing for the consumer!
Another good review and solid playing from Nick. Pricey kit, but sounds and looks nice. Would love to hear it against an industry standard kit, like a Yamaha Absolute or RC, or a Pearl Masters...... Would also be good to know if they support a bass drum mounted tom holder option. It's a must for us gigging drummers and very irritating when the marketing departments remove it as an option....... Would love to hear you guys review some vintage kits too :-)
Hi Russell, many thanks for your comments and for sharing your thoughts with us. All are welcome and are fed back to the team. Thanks for watching/subscribing, best wishes, DR
Thank you for this review. In the near future I want to buy a DS-Drum Kit, because I fell in love with these drums ;-) Can you perhaps tell me what sizes the drums are and whicht wood? Thank you and greetings from Germany.
A lot of them (e.g. Giant Beat, 2002, Rude) are B8. These are Signatures though, which are "Signature Bronze" that they're pretty coy about, although it is sold as being fuller and richer sounding.
i have known about these drums since 1997. the drummer of the band rhapsody was using them on their first 2 albums and i thought they sounded great. legendary tales and symphony of enchanted lands. drummer daniele carbonera.
I don't know why Drummers review uses the same drummer for all there testing videos. I almost feel uncomfortable watching him play. but I like the reviews, my first real drum set was a Rogers Gold sparkle kit
photographerjonathan DR is always about continuity and not have a go heroes. The focus is always about the gear, with Nick as the sticks man in each and every case. With Nick, we feel that he represents “ your very plausible every day Drummer” and not a show man. I’m not quite sure why this would make it uncomfortable to watch? He is purely the demonstrator for our impartial and honest platform. Best wishes, DR
They Sound awesome. I met the DS guys at Dan Humphries stall at Manchester. Well impressed!!
These drums are very much to my liking.
Everything about them is very appealing.

Bravo Luca. That aluminium snare is awesome and I don't usually like aluminium snares. Continuate così

Insane drums but even better engineering. How are your drums miked? I see the e22s but what’s the overhead mics etc?
Amazing,my drum,great sound,incredibile Italian sound,sorry my bad english....
I thought Paiste cymbals are always piercingly bright sounding but these sound smoothly as many default traditional cymbals.

Signature Series by Paiste should be made in a B15 alloy, if I do rember correctly. Formula 602 and Twenty (which is Turkish) are made of B20-
juicy sound

Never heard of this brand
Seem a little dry?? Birch shells?? I prefer maple!
Great snare, rack toms and floor toms.
Kick drum could sound better
