Thank you for the video. I will be doing the oil change to our lawn mower today. I already do the oil change on my cars, I agree with not rushing and when you do things yourself it will be done with much care and love. I enjoy the video. God Bless you all! ❤🙏🏽
I have been changing oil filters for over 50 years on lawnmowers, cars, motorcycles, boats and never have I heard of putting oil in the filter first nor it causing a problem if you don't. Can you provide any references that this is supposed to be done other than your own personal opinion.
Putting oil in the filter first is a good practice, especially in an engine where the filter opening faces up. It helps prevent oil starvation during startup. Just an extra precaution. A more valuable practice would be to change the oil every year, which many owners neglect.
Its unnecessary to use any type of wrench to tighten an oil filter. Thats why they can be so hard to remove. This goes for your auto as well. Just tighten until the filter contacts the engine, then hand tighten another 1/3 turn.
I went to advance Auto and picked one up it's a Honda oil wrench is for a smaller filter for a Honda I don't know how to put the link otherwise I would here's what I did I went to the John Deere dealership where I got my tractor at I asked him for a filter for the x580 and they they sold it to me I took that filter to advance Auto and told him I need a filter wrench that fits that and then I have a 3 in 3/8 drive extension on my ratchet now that little plastic plate that's there that tries to protect the oil filter you can take it off I think it's held on by one bolt and then it will slip up out of a retaining slot at least that's what it looks like it does I just kind of work around it myself take care thank you for your comment and I hope that helps
Sorry for the first comment I made that was from my x580 John Deere this I just got a regular type of band oil wrench in it fits that oil filter as you seen as the video explained at the end I put it on with the band wrench but Napa has this new one I'm thinking about buying one and if I do I'll send you the link to that it's it's multiple size filters and it has like three fingers on it and it fits on the 3/8 drive ratchet and again I would probably use a three or four inch extension 3/8 drive if I get out within the next couple days I'll send you a link thank you again take care

People drive for decades and never set their park brake properly either but that fact doesn't make the practice any less foolish.😆

That's why it specifically says a quarter-turn past hand tight
Can you please provide a link to your oil filter remover (wrench) I am having issues finding one to fit the tight spot.
