I’m hoping we can get our gen 3 Rival, most likely May, in this tournament still. Optimistic and hopeful we get to see their true power behind the kind demeanor.
First of all I think the Lilycove fight is the last canonical fight you get at all? But also they don't appear anywhere else with anything different- Masters gives Brendan as the Main Character Blaziken but then Torchic to the master's MC, so May wouldn't even be getting Blaziken, it seems. As much as I love May personally, they're not given to us as the real rival of the gen and they don't have appearances outside of their region so no bigger/more interesting team comps...
It's a shame, May/Brendan can actually be a challenge in the encounters we have RSE. I thought they would have had more appearances but in hindsight they really haven't appeared much.
As rivals they could have been so much more

@@Lucas-sl6df yeah but most of their team build is entirely dependent on what the player gets as a starter, so Silph would have to define what Pokemon they start with despite that being conflicted across media. Special has Mudkip Brendan, Masters has Treecko Brendan, Anime has Torchic May, Masters will have Mudkip May. There is no overlap of consistency. I think it was interesting he made a point to keep Gardevoir off of Wally's team when he could've maybe run Gallade & Gardevoir for different effects, so he isn't just "I'll pick the best even if 1 cancels another out in a timeline variance".
...This shouldn't be so complicated sighhhh

Backstory was after OrAs and he might want to use his signaure Salamence
Because Dragonite is more of a signature Pokémon for Lance and Clair

His last match up team is literally his best team. To think as a Dragon Trainer, he's only used 6 evolutionary lines

How GOOD is Elite Four Drake ACTUALLY?
I expect him to get pretty far in this tournament. He's even higher in E4 ranking than Glacia, so I expect even her to struggle against him.

Addendum- I mean so drake also takes a vacay to Galar and picks him up a Dreepy and evolves it to the powerhouse Dragapult. I would pay money to see that.

I'd love to see a May/Brendan True Power episode! They have more than enough members to their teams when they're your rivals in the Hoenn games and it's one of the rare occasions where a protagonist has a full canonical team in the main series games

He hasn’t done them yet. Why does it matter the order of the Elite 4, he does them by request anyways. Yes they’re probably in the tournament. Archie and Brawly were in the first round of the tournament so it makes sense. Only if they had a legendary in the main series games. They only have one if they canonically had one in the series. @@teamfmreborn7045 not to be THAT guy, but hau isnt champion, when you battle him for champion slot in ultra sun or ultra moon, you are both the most recent trainers, actually the first two to beat the elite four in alola, the canon champion for alola is the player, hau does not count. It's why I like usum so much you are actually more recognized as champion than previous games.

@@ksoundkaiju9256 The Cooltrainer on Victory Road who's heavily implied to be related to the Winstrate family. He has about eight distinct Pokemon, so he could have a full team. Doesn't look like we're getting that, though.
