This was such a good performance. Quickened over 3 out and then again when cracked with the whip. Really good horse.
Master class ride by the winning jockey. Well done
Impossible, the English commentary fiends who are always so spot-on, have told me very firmly that he was a donkey when he won the Cox Plate. I refuse to believe it.
Unbelievable isn’t it
Yes it's amazing the put down of the Cox plate and racing in aus. In general after state of rest won the plate last October. Anyone with an ounce of racing knowledge knew he was a very good horse, and Joseph o'Brien wasn't foolish enough to send him ten thousand miles if he wasn't the real deal. Anyway plenty of internet experts with their tails between their legs.
Any more slurs on the English Roy ,you nelly
@@iansmith587
What did those people with an ounce of racing knowledge base that assessment on mate.
His 3rd in a listed mile race at the Curragh behind two horses who did nothing afterwards?
Or was it the victory in a US turf race for 3yo beating another two horses who have done nothing afterwards?
He’s clearly an improving horse but let’s see how he goes up against the better horses.
Second in the PoW has never run in a G1 race, Lord North wasn’t in the race and the Japanese horse either underperformed or doesn’t measure up to Euro quality.
The two horses who finished ahead of him at the Curragh also had zero G1 wins between them.
He might be a top notch horse but he’s had a soft run so far.
@@iansmith587 He was humiliated in France.
Can't fault the winner with 13 seconds a furlong and kept up the pace. Fair play to all involved.
That’s crawling
A shame that they can only cobble together a field of 5 for such an iconic race
Yep all the great ones retired far to early and all the good ones sold overseas the sport is dying a slow death when sheikh Mohammed passes we could be in real trouble all the good horses going overseas
Also the horses not getting run much these days 4 races a year for most of the top ones
4 group 1 winners though in the 5 runners
@@tomhurcombe2185 Exactly Quality over Quantity, We get a lot of Variety at Royal Ascot, No Need for negativity
After he fell in and won the Cox Plate I was told by old matey there were 10 better back home in the UK? makes you laugh BG.
Shane Crosse lucky boy not to be jocked off, rode a marvellous race.
Makes sense now why Waller never brought Winx over to the UK. A horse that barely beat Anamoe can win with ease in a G1 over there.
And was then crushed by Inspiral. State Of Rest is crap.
After reviewing this race it’s interesting to note that top class horses who have won this race in the past on good and good to firm ground have recorded race times between 2.03 and 2.05.
This race was run in 2.07.7 which is around 3 seconds slower than standard
Lord North won two years ago in 2.05.5 and Poets Word won in 2.03.5
That tells me it was the jockey who won this race, not the horse.
This was a sprint home and the best way to win a sprint home is to have a head start and get first run.
All the other horses needed a much stronger gallop.
This guy is a good horse but he got caught out in Ireland when there was a strong gallop.
I suspect there are a few other horses heading to the big races ahead who can perform under a strong gallop even better than Alenquer and High Definition
Good horse much better than I thought
There has never been a bad horse win a Cox plate, obviously some editions are stronger than others.
@@iansmith587 he won a very strong cox plate beat the two best Southern Hemisphere horses. He is a good horse not a great yet though could be who knows
Congrats to Joseph O'Brien first Ascot winner as a trainer. That young jockey is going places. He rode a great race and today was better than the others.
Well after my SMALL..Small bet Nature strip.....Had Another small bet...cause somewhere it was in my Head!!Lucky...4me...Slow lead it seems n I wasCHEERN 🥳

A race all about the start and pace. Lord North's hood too firmly folded into the bridle. State Of Rest allowed a very soft time in front. Going through form beforehand none of the 5 runners had ever made the running! However, Shahryar had raced most prominently, last time tracking pace and his recent form improvement had come when upped to 1m4f... So at this 1m2f i obvious he'd need a good pace otherwise would get outpaced in the sprint for home... and did. Once knowing the early pace was slow Demuro should have gone to the front and increased the tempo. Bay Bridge is a known hold up horse and - as before - a bit keen in behind off because of the slow fractions. Had he made a move to race more prominently / without cover risks being even more keen - so unfortunately Ryan had to sit and suffer. Crosse deserves praise but helped.today by having a willing horse in State Of Rest, type of horse Bay Bridge is and. Demuro and Dettori's stupidity.
I think Mark that the winner and his jockey deserve a bit more praise than you give them imo. He set the pace and and was there for the taking but none of them could. G1s in USA, Oz, France and now England..how much more does he have to do
Wonder who or what will Frankie blame for that fiasco at the start
Good aftertiming analysis , however , as we know , horses aren`t machines and it`s not a computer game that can be played over and over until you get it right.
Ryan Moore suppose to be world class and he can’t even judge the pace of a 5 runner race, diabolical😂
what the fuck u on abt?? he just got beat by a better horse. Did u have ryan ?
🤡
Want some 🍇 grapes.
They’re a bit sour.
Ryans record at Ascot is shit only won it 8 times in 9 years lol
Fantastic ...
Shocking ride by Moore. Decided the Japanese horse was his only threat so he followed that. The problem was he let the winner have a soft lead and left it too late.
NOPE,ride was fine, race not run to suit at all .
There's always one 🤡
Typical RM.
2nd horse had enough , winner was getting away again with 50 to go
You have to give some credit to the winning I thought he give the winner a super ride from the front a lot of fingers burnt on Moore anyway he will win on newfoundland in the 3 05 Thursday
State of rest hey , wins group 1 . 😂
Remember all the knockers when he won the cox plate 😂😂
State of rest 😍
COX plate winner WON this G1 by FURTHER than he could manage in Oz - clearly UK "G1" is a step DOWN.
Time to count the clueless jockey bashers in the comments. Bay Bridge is generally held up and that's when he is at his best. Moore did nothing wrong, this was always likely to be a tactical affair with no real pace angle. The jockey on state of rest gave his horse a blinder, bay bridge simply didn't get any pace to aim at and likely comfortably reverses the form next time if he does.
Perfect description Tom. That young jockey is very gd.
You may be right but I find it hard to see how bay Bridge will win easily the next time they meet. . Look at the races the winner has ran in and look at what he has won
No pace to aim at u seem times lmao
@@somemotherdoavem yes the race was slower than standard by 3.5 seconds which is very slow on gd to firm
Sir Michael should have sent a pace setter that would have made a difference, pace to slow
YEAH,needed faster run race, another day a reverse in the placings I'd say.
Anamoe by how far on this lot? Was giving SOR windburn in the Cox Plate until he was almost knocked into the Norther Hemisphere.
Your hyperbole is laughable. I think Anamoe should have won too...by a nose. Seems one of us was way more wrong.
Probably 1/2 a length for mine.
We hear a lot about what the Aussie horses would do or could do, but they never actually do it.
Let’s see if Anamoe can actually even win a race at 4.
@@elgransenor1472 Has benbatl recovered from the windburn winx gave him yet?

Great win and brilliant training performance by Joseph. Also demonstrates the strength of Australian middle distance racing. His win in the Cox Plate might have been a bit lucky, and he just got home against up and comer Anamoe and the great mare Verry Elleegant. VE went on to scored a very memorable win in the Melbourne Cup.
Hello Svend..apparently Very Elegant is going to run in the Arc.
@@balmainbuckobucko2643 Chris wouldn't be taking her for a hair cut. You'd have to say after her Cup win she'd be a big chance. Win loose or draw it will be exciting to watch her. What a way to end her fabulous career - a win in The Arc.
@@svendbosanvovski4241 she has changed hands..I hope she's not on the slide, at her best she'd give El Gran heart palpitations over there.

Hope VE hasn’t been over raced. Would love too see her at her best in the Arc
Ascot races should be named as “Upset Races”
Basically a 3 furlong sprint for a G1 prize. The fav will no doubt move up to a mile and half but Stoute will likely rue not putting a pacemaker in the race.
Pacemakers are bullshit. Make your own running ffs. If nothing wants to take on a leader then they should get the advantage. Great horses should have the arsenal for all situation or they are too one-dimensional.
@@tst8720 Pacemakers can make the difference between winning and losing hence why they use them. The best horse on the planet had a pacemaker - you do remember Frankel?
This wasn't a true 1 1/4 mile race - the listed race the previous day was won by a time over 3 seconds faster.
I found the whole week totally underwhelming
Virtually none of the group races for 3yo and older horses were run at a genuine pace.
When will Stoute and Appleby and Gosden start running pacemakers?
We’ve had years of Ballydoyle ensuring good genuine pace and now they’ve gone missing the other trainers are letting their good horses get stitched up by silly tactical errors
I love horse racing and I could watch little kids on donkies with the greatest of pleasure. But I do like a good thoroughbred.
Fair play to all the other jocks giving it a soft lead 👏🏻
these jockeys can time their furlongs to lose by necks mate.
soft lead ?? someone has to be there. Japanese horse pestered it most of the race!!
Jimmy Lindley:
I don't think they have much option.
@@andrewbaker5584 someone’s a bit touchy
Bay Bridge never ran in a Group 1or Group 2 before Royal Ascot and obviously his Group 3 form was seriously overrated.State of Rest ran in five Group 1's prior to Royal Ascot winning three so in effect people were backing potential against outstanding proven form.
How the fudge was his group 3 over rated u 🍩 who did he beat whom won wat come out with such a bullshit comment lol. Best horse on day won yes.stop fav bashing
Obrien horse deserved 2 win his race led from the off and that was it
Obrien?
Once again I can’t understand what the Aussies are frothing about over this win.
An inexperienced Irish 3yo with a bit of upside goes over there on just his third start as a 3yo and plucks their prize race and in the process comfortably beats their best horse of the past 3 years.
His rating on arrival in Australia was 113.
He then returns home and puts in some solid G1 performances 7-8 months later as a more mature and developed 4yo.
I honestly can’t see how this is a great revelation about Australian racing.
We already knew VE was not quite as good as Addeybb and he also puts in solid G1 performances here so I’m not sure why you think we’d all be shocked that State of Rest is about the same level as that?
The only question was if he trained on and developed further as a 4yo. He has.
It’s no big surprise and there’s nothing in this for Aussies to brag about.
Remember- he’s an Irish horse and he was able to beat your best horse in her home country as a very inexperienced young horse.
How has he improved since the Cox Plate. Maybe he has run to the same level.
I think it is further evidence that the Cox Plate is now unquestionably the rolled gold number 1 WFA 2000m horse race on the planet EGS. We have seen in recent years State of Rest and Lys Gracieux dominate International races after winning the Cox Plate. Before that 2 globetrotting superstars in Highland Reel and Benbatl were absolutely murdered by the mercurial Winx in the Cox Plate (imagine what she would've done to those 1 paced hackers at Royal Ascot). And previously Cox Plate winners such as Better Loosen Up, Sunline and So You Think had great success on the world stage.
@@markwatkins6618 spot on
@@markwatkins6618
Thanks mate
That gave me a great laugh
Made my day
Lys Gracieux was virtually offered an appearance fee to go with a $2million gift from the MV club
They were worried their great race was going to be an embarrassment so they paid her connections to give it some credibility
@@JD-767 I actually quite enjoy the banter with EGS and his/her's obsession with criticising Australian racing and horses. I get great pleasure in destroying his/hers comments and opinion on such a regular basis.
🔔 too soft?
No need for this AUS vs UK nonsense. Great trainers like D Weld understand bringing superstars to Aus could be fatal (think Alex van Dyke.) Bring up-and-comers instead. Adeybb & SoR winning in Aus doesn't mean Aussie horses are inferior, only that those two were well-placed by their trainers. Nature Strip was awesome, but imagine if all jockeys in that race were Aussies.
Very lucky not to have lost the Cox Plate in Australia, on protest., to Anamoe.
Many thought it should have been upheld.
Well it wasn't an he won
yes you are correct /......the stewards were afraid due to international back slap if the protest was upheld...the margin was a nose and state of rest layed all over anamoe in the last 100 m......in saying that its good to see SOR win.....it shows how good aussie horses are....and anamoe is not our best stayer///////if winx went there it would have shut the pommies up and creamed all over enable....ps anamoe was only a three year old.
speaking about jockeys jmac showed them good
@@vincentfalsaperla It is far more about the horses than the jockeys and plenty of British and Irish jockeys have "showed them good" when beating the Aussie jockeys in their own backyard.
@@seanscanlon9067 Once in a blue moon?? Mostly slaughter their horse's chances down under. ....

Slating an entire nation over a blindfold on a horse seems a bit harsh and I'm Irish.
It looks like Frankie just forgot!
It was that well known Brit - the Italian Stallion Frankie Dettori.
I think Frankie is to blame here but of course he won't admit it and the TV channel prob won't want to say it either
Look at him on this fav never touched with the whip ,good job jockeys don't rely on winners for a living , they'd be in the gutter .
Dunno what race you watched 🤣🤣, clearly gets 4 taps of the whip. Best horse won
What’s the point in whipping the horse, when it’s clearly giving all its got? That’s just going to get the jockey fined
Some punters comments are from the gutter.
josepy genius simple
Dettori should be retired now. He's well below his best.look at how crap he rode those good horses the past few months. Oaks and today is even worse. Too old and weak to push the horse. Riding like a amateur jockey lol👎👎
