      pearl Do it! It’s an awesome field. I’m an OT and currently work in Neuro inpatient rehab and because of the pandemic, all aspects of rehab are severely needed. Once patients have recovered from the virus, they are deconditioned and weak and we need to get them back to their prior level of function so they can go back home. I’m looking forward to seeing research that will be done to see how rehabilitation affects patients while they’re recovering from Covid and post Covid. Good luck on your journey!

      Thanks for this...I was wondering if I should go into OT instead of Nursing. I heard there are not a lot of job opportunities though, is that true?

      I would love to hear what your typical work day looks like!

    • @victoriadigi
      @victoriadigi 4 роки тому +2

      Where do I even start haha! every day looks a bit different depending on the clients/families. I typically work from 12 PM - 7 PM. In the mornings I will prep and review documentation to determine what types of assessments/treatment activities would be best for the clients I have been scheduled for that day. I see children from 7 months up until 18 years to support self-care skills (dressing, toileting, hygiene), fine and gross motor development; written/typed output, seating/positioning, feeding, visual perceptual/visual motor differences, sensory processing skills, and emotional/self-regulation. My sessions are usually play-based (but also include a consultative/educational element for caregivers around ways to support occupational engagement). After each session I have around 10 minutes for electronic charting, in addition to this I often do a summary of recommendations for caregivers to try - I usually check in with how this went at the next visit. COVID presents an interesting challenge: sessions have been really spaced out to allow me to disinfect the therapy space + sanitize the kiddos’ hands after each activity. OT truly is a combination of art and science - i’m always being challenged as a clinician to find new/exciting ways to help families find joy and fulfillment in life! We want our kids to thrive not just simply exist. Hope this provides a snapshot of my life as a peds OT! it’s always tricky to summarize 🤪

    Dentistry also allows you be do surgery often without residency! We start treating patients by 3rd year so we graduate with 2 years of experience with patient care. Then you go can on to specialize (10 specialities recognized by the ADA) or get additional training in general dentistry. Definitely recommend for those that like to be hands on 😊

    Hi Dr. Le! I remember watching one of your videos where you said you did something with histology. But I couldn't find that video so I'm asking on here. Were you a histologist? And in the work you do every day as a family physician, how important do you feel is histology to your career now? Just wondering because I'm interested in it!! Thank you!

    Does the stigma of being a DO still affect you to this day?

    • @drjennale

      @@drjennale Love DOs because they seem to be interested in what IS working in a person. IMO many MD's rush to Dx what is wrong and bypass the most important thing--what is right. I wish I could find a DO in my area who takes regular Medicare. In Los Angeles area they seem to be mainly at Kaiser.

    • @drjennale
      @drjennale  4 роки тому +2

      I think it’s a broken healthcare system where doctors are overworked and many burnt out (both MD and DO). There are many great doctors out there and I am sorry that your experience has not been the best. I hope find someone that is a better fit and listens to you
