Node membranes? Are those tye "bulkheads" of the bamboo that separate each tube? If so, how does one go about breaking them? Just a sharp metal spike? Also, what does the sand do? Do we wet the sand to pack it in dry?
can get a pressure cooker, metal bendable tubing and pvc pipe, hook tube to pressure release on pressure cooker... *is what ima gonna do prolly, salvation army stuff, yay!
Have you considered a regenerative cycle to re-use the steam? It is easier to re.heat the steam than heat liquid water.

Rattan is the best for bending, a bamboo might not be that good, I think so. I keep watching the video and see.

try filling the bamboo with dried fine sand first, then just heat with a blowlamp, you can then bend bamboo 4 inches thick!!
