Thanks for the reaction. My husband, Peter Beckett, who wrote and sang this song, is also from England. Daryl Hall told him once that Baby Come Back was one of Hall & Oates most requested songs even though they had nothing to do with it :)
That song is a classic..still. The end of the song "HOW'S YOUR LIFE BEEN GOING ON? GOTTA WIFE NOW, YEARS WE BEEN STRONG. THERES JUST SOMETHING THAT I GOT TO SAY, SOMETIMES WHEN WE MAKE 💘 LOVE, I CAN STILL SEE YOUR FACE...I thought I was the only one! This song is haunting about loss of your true love , even if you have to move on.
Player was riding the charts in 1977, I was 13 when this came out and it was all over the radio, also just in case anyone watched soap opera's, the dude in the red outfit was Ron moss of "the bold and the beautiful " he played bass,
Baby Come Back by the Equals is a great, fun song. I don't think I heard it prior to discovering it on Sirius XM which plays a lot of forgotten gems. But Player's song really takes me back to the late 70s -- one of the best from that era.
Great reaction!!! "Baby Come Back'' is one of my all-time favorite songs!!! It's one of those songs that's an integral part of my teen years!!! I can't find anything wrong with the song, except that the guitar solo at the end could have been longer!!!
These guys have said that whenever Darryl Hall would cross paths with them, he would joke to them that this was his most requested song from his fans, lol. :-D
I remember grooving with the ladies on the dance floor...freshman in high school when this came out..Hall & Oates vibe to me. Smoooooooth...love this tune.
Thanks Harri. This is new to me too. What voices and talents. And this was before auto tune. And my goodness these are one bunch of the handsomest guys I ever did see. Maybe they are real life players, and named so. 😮
The song is awesome. The vocals, the spacing of picking on electric guitar, instead of just speed, was phenomenal. The 70s guitars can speak to me. Such a great listening song. Sung beautifully, to get my baby back. 👏👍👏
The bassman is Ronn Moss, and he got a job playing Ridge Forrester on the American soap opera "Bold and the Beautiful." Hall & Oates was first. As far as I know, Player was a one-hit wonder.
I was 13 when this song came out and loved it immediately. To this very day, it feels like I am hearing it for the first time. I love music and listen to it all the time and this one has got to be in my top 5. It never gets old.
This is one of my favorite songs, I’m 53 years old, and I know a lot of music! This is part of a sub rock genre called yacht rock hits from the 70s and 80s a beautiful time beautiful music you have to listen to more yacht rock songs
For another great song from this era that I might suggest is Paul Davis (I go Crazy ) it's worth a listen weather you get to it in a reaction or not. Thanks my friend. PEACE
Harri, you nailed the similarity to "She's Gone" by Hall & Oates. If you liked this, you will like Ambrosia. Both bands releasing songs in the late 70s, yacht rock.
Not sure whether you're aware, but Player's Peter Beckett joined Little River Band for a while in the 80s. LRB played this song in their set during that era.
Another great song that always reminds me of this one (for some reason) is "How Much I Feel" by Ambrosia. I'm sure you will love that one just as much.
I love seeing people discover our music!! And you're absolutely correct when you said there is so much more of our music to discover! Enjoy your journey my friend!!
Back in the mid to late 70's there were more than a few tunes like this. I remember this being on the radio, and it was popular and sold really well, but nobody I knew thought it was that big of a deal because there was so much great music being made at that time. Back then the radio was actually worth listening to even with all the commercials. Maybe I missed it somehow, but I don't remember Player ever having another song that got much radio play. If you haven't already, you might want to check out The Brothers Johnson. They were on the radio in the late 70's as well. I suggest a tune called "Strawberry Letter 23."
Remember this sleeping in the back out of those Summer Nights Sacramento thinking about the girl a junior high that I wanted to be with but you didn't even know who I was man brings back memories
Bruv, big respect to you and your comments... You know your music 🎶 and appreciate great music, awesome tunes and amazing vocals... that's the 70,s bro.. Real music and real sounds played by real musicians with real talent, not some laptop ir computer software crap.. Remember ,1st time i heard 🎧 this back in 78👏, i went out and bought the single 🎼🎶 i knew these guys were magic 🤘and hearing it again brought back good memories 🤙🙏.. The tune, the harmony, the music arrangement all top notch, Peter Becketts vocals 🎶 pure magic and his guitar solo absolutely right on the number ☑️....like you man, could listen to this over and over..Already downloaded to my mobile...thanks once again and keep those turntables turning..🙏👏🙏
I know I'm late with my comment. But I came across you on youtube and a song that you reacted to, I hadn't heard in so long. So when I clicked on you I discovered that you react to music from my days. I subscribed to you about four days ago and I can't get enough of all this fantastic music that I so loved. Thank you so much... :)
Classic. Like everyone else here has said if you like this you have to do Ambrosias songs How Much I Feel, You're the Only Woman, and Biggest Part of Me. It will be diamonds in your ears! Also agree on LRB (Little River Band).
I knew this song was gonna be so you. It's a cool mellow groove. Like when you're driving or having dinner with your lady. Good reaction to a good song.
Great reaction Harri! Hello from Canada! One of my fave songs when I was a teeny bopper. If you like this song, try Kenny Chesney, Somewhere with you. He is country and you will enjoy It. Studio version is more funky! God Bless!
I have always loved this song. Check out" Prisoner of Love". I agree that you will love Ambrosia. Also from that era, Paul Davis , "I go crazy". Be still my heart💓
Another great reaction by you, sir. They are still around and have changed many band members, but have a Greatest Hits album. One of their best is “ This Time I’m In it For Love”.
I pulled my ear plug out of my phone so my wife could hear it and after about 10 seconds she grabbed my hand and headed for the bedroom lol. We are both 65 and 'Boy Howdy' did we play it alot.
"Shame on the Moon" by Bob Seger, "Super Bowl Shuffle" by the Chicago Bear(Super Bowl XX), "19" by Paul HardCastle. All from the 80's, yet as different as night and day.
The genre you should be checking out is what we (now) in the USA call "Yacht Rock". It's full of stuff like this. High production values, generally uptempo music from the 70's thru the VERY early 80's
There's nothing more from "Player" to check out. HOWEVER, another USA 1 hit wonder you may enjoy, in the same general style is a track by "Ace" called "How Long"
Here are some others others I'd add- Atlanta Rhythm Section - So Into you; Poco - Crazy Love; Ambrosia - How Much I Feel, Biggest Part Of Me; Little River Band - Lady, Cool Change, Reminiscing; Pablo Cruise - Love Will Find a Way; Orleans - Still The One; Gino Vannelli - I Just Wanna Stop. I'd also throw in Boz Skaggs - Lido, Lowdown. But that's me. Love the reaction!
One word......... HARMONIES. This does have that Bee Gees, Eagles vibe with the great harmonies. The only other "hit" that I can recal by Player was " This Time I'm In It For Love ".
On the sound, in the intro, I agree, it does sound like Hall & Oats. I think the whole song reminds me of The Eagles and Bee Gees as well due to 2 factors; the lyrics are complex, but they're delivered in a simple and direct manner and those 2 things were definitely found a lot in The Eagles and Bee Gees (i.e. Lying Eyes and How Deep is Your Love).
Great Number One song from Player! I remember buying this record all those years ago. They had a follow up to this called..This Time I'm in It For Love which reached #10 on the charts in the USA & #6 here in Canada but most have forgotten it and label Player a One Hit Wonder. They were actually a two hit wonder. 😎🎼🎵🎶🇨🇦
Those good old 70s. I was 20 something when this came out sometime in the mid to late 70s. Now I'm 65, and it's just as good, if not better. Great memories.
Love this one! Unfortunately, nothing else came from them..but some other awesome groups to check out with similar vibes are Ambrosia, Little River Band, Christopher Cross, Air Supply, The Babys, Climax Blues Band, Pablo Cruise, Atlantic Rhythm Section and Seals and Croft to name a few,lol Keep On Rockin`
Ambrosia should be next on your list .Player kept the sound production.Try Ambrosias Holding On To Yesterday, How Much I Feel or Your The Only Woman You won’t be disappointed
Fantastic reaction! One of my favorite songs from the 70’s! I hear Hall and Oates in this song, too! I think you might like Ambrosia, another great 70’s band.
Yes i agree I thought it was a Hall and Oates song when heard it back in the 80s as a kid haha. I think you’ll love Doobie Brothers and Ambrosia if you like this song.
Thanks for the reaction. My husband, Peter Beckett, who wrote and sang this song, is also from England. Daryl Hall told him once that Baby Come Back was one of Hall & Oates most requested songs even though they had nothing to do with it :)
And had Ridge from Bold and the Beautiful playing bass.
I'm a 70's baby and love this song!!!!!
All these years I’ve always heard Hall & Oats singing this in my mind, forgetting it was Player… 😁
Who is the keyboardist? Looks like Jim Morrisons twin! 🔥❤️
@@jillybean3688 JC Crowley, he co-wrote BCB with Peter. Peter always said he looked just like Jim Morrison.
Love Player and this song. It has been a radio favorite growing up. Another band to check is Ambrosia with their "How Much I Feel". Great track. ❤🇦🇺
yep! Ambrosia aint no joke!
That song is a classic..still.
The end of the song "HOW'S YOUR LIFE BEEN GOING ON? GOTTA WIFE NOW, YEARS WE BEEN STRONG.
THERES JUST SOMETHING
THAT I GOT TO SAY, SOMETIMES WHEN WE MAKE 💘 LOVE, I CAN STILL

is haunting about loss of your true love , even if you have to move on.
Ronn Moss went on to be a soap opera star from 1987 to 2012 on The Bold and the Beautiful. He’s the bassist.
Ronnie was cool dude met them in studio
"This time I'm in it for love" that's a great song by player as well.
Player was riding the charts in 1977, I was 13 when this came out and it was all over the radio, also just in case anyone watched soap opera's, the dude in the red outfit was Ron moss of "the bold and the beautiful " he played bass,
ANOTHER ABSOLUTE MUST HEAR,,
10CC "I'M NOT IN LOVE" 1975
Oh heavens yes!
Yes!, But the studio version not a live one. To me it sounds better with the production.
Yes
Baby Come Back by the Equals is a great, fun song. I don't think I heard it prior to discovering it on Sirius XM which plays a lot of forgotten gems. But Player's song really takes me back to the late 70s -- one of the best from that era.
"Diamonds in my ears." I'll have to use this line of yours. Brilliant!!!
Great reaction!!!
"Baby Come Back'' is one of my all-time favorite songs!!! It's one of those songs that's an integral part of my teen years!!! I can't find anything wrong with the song, except that the guitar solo at the end could have been longer!!!
If you love these guys, you will love the band Ambrosia!! How Much I Feel is one of their best!!🎶🎵🎶
One of my favorite 70's song. There were so many awesome groups in 70's making beautiful music.
These guys have said that whenever Darryl Hall would cross paths with them, he would joke to them that this was his most requested song from his fans, lol. :-D
🤣 Glad he had a good sense of humor about it!
ahahahahahahahahahahahaha...stop!
Yes this was a HUGE HUGE hit back in 70's! Fantastic harmony indeed!!
The song is awesome. The vocals, the spacing of picking on electric guitar, instead of just speed, was phenomenal. The 70s guitars can speak to me. Such a great listening song. Sung beautifully, to get my baby back. 👏👍👏
A major song from my childhood in the 70s.
This Time I’m in it For Love another great song by them.
I was 13 too 1977 great times 😊
I loved this song as a 10 year old back in '77. Awesome song!!!
Still remember going to my 8th grade dance in my red button-down-big-lapel shirt and hoping to dance with Dana to this. We did.
This is one of my favorite songs, I’m 53 years old, and I know a lot of music! This is part of a sub rock genre called yacht rock hits from the 70s and 80s a beautiful time beautiful music you have to listen to more yacht rock songs
Still on my playlist to this day👌☮️❤️
For another great song from this era that I might suggest is Paul Davis (I go Crazy ) it's worth a listen weather you get to it in a reaction or not.
Thanks my friend. PEACE
Oh, most definitely a “must listen”!
Out of ALL, the reaction videos to this song, you're the ONLY one who heard the Congas👍👍👍👍
One of my All time favorites absolutely love that song the Harmony is Beautiful!!
Harri, you nailed the similarity to "She's Gone" by Hall & Oates. If you liked this, you will like Ambrosia. Both bands releasing songs in the late 70s, yacht rock.
I'm from England and never heard this back in the either !!
Why it's so what I grew up with and love it.
I'm from Brazil and I listened to this song a lot straight from the time tunnel
❤
This song's intro is one the best ever IMO. Could listen to it for hours !
Your description of the bands that this band encompasses is spot on!
Yes! Fantastic song. Regards from Brazil Harri.
Also a touch of Little River Band in the vocal harmonies. Harri, have you done any Little River Band yet?
Little River Band. Man I love watching these reactions, brings me back. ❤
Not sure whether you're aware, but Player's Peter Beckett joined Little River Band for a while in the 80s. LRB played this song in their set during that era.
@@mjw2440 - I didn't know that! Thanks.
After Player broke up Peter Beckett played with Little River Band for 9 years.
Great Band!!
I so agree with your assessment! Spot on!
Great song. Great reaction
Another great song that always reminds me of this one (for some reason) is "How Much I Feel" by Ambrosia. I'm sure you will love that one just as much.

Clllllllasic 70's song .looooovvvve it !!!! The soundtrack of my life .....
The Little River Band for sure. Also Ambrosia The 70’s were great! Great music and actual musicians not auto tuned.
That 70s sound was EVERYWHERE in the 70s, 80s and a little in the 90s.
How God blessed us with Ears

THE GREATEST MUSIC
IN THE DECADE TO FALL IN LOVE AND THEN GET YOUR HEART BROKE AND MUSIC WAS OUR THEOPHY AND GET MY SELF TOGETHER ❤
I knew this song was gonna be so you. It's a cool mellow groove. Like when you're driving or having dinner with your lady. Good reaction to a good song.
One of my favorite songs growing up me and my friends played it all the time when I was a teenager great song great memories

The other big hit from Player is: "This time I in it for love"
I have always loved this song. Check out" Prisoner of Love". I agree that you will love Ambrosia. Also from that era, Paul Davis , "I go crazy". Be still my heart💓
AMBROSIA. Biggest part of me. You’re the ONLY Woman!! How MUCH I FEEL.
This song falls into the category called " yacht rock " here in the uk ❤️ One of my favourite 70's songs ❤️
I agree. A superb song in every way!
Another great reaction by you, sir. They are still around and have changed many band members, but have a Greatest Hits album. One of their best is “ This Time I’m In it For Love”.
43 year old song. One hit wonder I think. #1 1978 Not sure of any of their other songs. My son was born when this was a huge hit!
I've literally been listening to the song all day... and yesterday.
I pulled my ear plug out of my phone so my wife could hear it and after about 10 seconds she grabbed my hand and headed for the bedroom lol. We are both 65 and 'Boy Howdy' did we play it alot.

There's also a song by a band called Jigsaw,"Sky High",that fits into a similar vibe.
Great band
Most excellent!
Here are some others others I'd add-
Atlanta Rhythm Section - So Into you; Poco - Crazy Love; Ambrosia - How Much I Feel, Biggest Part Of Me; Little River Band - Lady, Cool Change, Reminiscing; Pablo Cruise - Love Will Find a Way; Orleans - Still The One; Gino Vannelli - I Just Wanna Stop.
I'd also throw in Boz Skaggs - Lido, Lowdown. But that's me.
Love the reaction!
The “lighter side of rock” is what they called it back in the day, lots of if to be had, radio stations that only played soft rock.
One of my favotite songs. You should listen to Orlreans' "Dance with Me" and "Still the One"
A MiniMoog synth, quite a thrilling sound to hear. Incredible 1960s solid state analog electronic keyboard!
👍 I did hear thus in early 80s & liked it but glad to be reunited with it & appreciate it so much more now 🥰🫶
One word......... HARMONIES. This does have that Bee Gees, Eagles vibe with the great harmonies. The only other "hit" that I can recal by Player was " This Time I'm In It For Love ".

Love those classic bass lines, put down by Ronn Moss.
Ron Moss, the bassist of the Player band, was the actor in the The Bold and the Beautiful.

They had one more minor hit that was a good song called "This Time I'm In it for Love."
On The Simpsons, Homer lost Maggie (the baby) one time. He called the missing baby hotline and the on-hold music was this song.
The base player is Ronn Moss,
later famous for his part as
Ridge in the american soap
The Bald and the Beautiful..
Fantastic reaction! One of my favorite songs from the 70’s! I hear Hall and Oates in this song, too! I think you might like Ambrosia, another great 70’s band.
I’ve listened to this song over and over and love it. Came out the year my second son was born. Such a sweet time for music, 1977.
Nice, You will like The Little River Band if you loved this song,
I wonder if they had the same influences.
Player meant then what it means today 😉
Great song
This is my favorite song from my teenage years. Loved it then, love it now.
You know you’re dope & down with it for real when you can work this line into a song: “all day long wearing a mask of false bravado” (& make it work).
Blues fuel man.
Great music from a great era.
gino vanelli,i just wanna stop, you must hear,
great reactions my friend
Love this song!!

KEYBOARDS!!
I'm so glad I found you. I love your openmindedness to give any song a chance with no predicted notions
Man me and my dad use to strum this shit out on the porch. The good ol' days! Thank you!
