The first Dropkick Murphys concert I went to was in Denver, Colorado. Dropkick Murphys featured the singer of Violent Femmes, Gordon, in the song Rose Tattoo. Gordon played the violin and the whole crowd went nuts. The whole experience was crazy and intense. I'm glad to see that the Violent Femmes and Dropkick Murphys are still working together after all these years.
Ja som Rose tattoo počula od nich ako prvú pesničku a zamilovala som sa ☘️. Happy days for you 🍻☘️ Maťa zo Slovenska 🇸🇰
I don't speak Slovakian, and I was only able to tell it was Slovakian because I used Google Translate. Nonetheless, happy days for you, as well! I hope every day finds you well.
I'm from Peekskill... a place close to Pete Seeger's heart. Sad to say that this part of our history wasn't taught to us. I'm so thrilled that Dropkick Murphys shed a light on Woody Guthrie's words, who was in Peekskill (Cortlandt Manor) with Pete a week after the riots of 1949. As they sing it at concerts around the globe, it's cool to know that fans might be learning something about the resilience of my town.
The 1949 Peekskill riots were instiaged by the Ku Klux Klan and American Legion attempting to break up a concert featuring Pete Seeger and Paul Robeson. They pelted the windows of buses bringing in concertgoers and broke up the first concert. But undeterred, the organizers did a 2nd concert, this time with large amounts of securty provided by leftist war veterans & others. There was violence from the Ku Kluxers as well. My uncle, Isidor Goldsand arranged for the venue for the 2nd concert at the site of the Van Cortland Country Club. This event was an early precursor of the anti-Communist McCarthy era hysteria which haunted America for much of the 1950s, and even today. I didn't realize till I watched the cards at the beginnng that this is a Woody Guthrie. I'm embarrassed to say I'd never heard of it before. But what a great piece of Labor history. I'd love to know how this came to the attention of The Boys. Great song!
The more I learn about DKM, the more I love them.
Woody Guthrie's daughter gave DKM access to all sorts of his writing. Unreleased songs, scribbled notes, etc. The songs Shipping Out to Boston and Blackout are both Guthrie and DKM songs. They have an album out that this song is on that's all collaborations.
Violet Femmes bring back great memories of my year in Oz 20 years ago. Blister In The Sun a classic
I was born in Peekskill, NY. Absolutely love this.
Join a Union!
Not my thing dude
@@Naughtism don't be a scab
@@Naughtism can I ask why? Weekends paid sick leave, and vacations, are a few things we only have thanks to unions. Know how people did so well in the 50 - the 70s and were not rich, here is a hint, they were in unions.
@@GKinslayer shit was also cheaper then too.
@@Naughtism You are one of those people who let others do the fighting for you. But enjoy the benefits of them when we have won the fight.
Hooray! Great song boys, shared❤
Come play in Peekskill! We’d be happy to have you
The Collaboration is Incredible !

Wild rover shit
Thank you Dropkick Murphys, because we learn many things about the political history of the US which do not belong to the "correct side". 😉😉😉

Gotta be the accordion and tin whistle.
Nothing a DKM song to bring out the feels of home.

Another banger boys! Please tell me you're touring with the Violent Femmes.
Hopefully they're together for Punk Rock Bowling
🎉
Приезжайте в Москву!
Outside of Frank Zappa, you and the Fems influenced my whole life. Thank you!
I was born and raised in Peekskill. I only heard of this 20 years ago. I went to school here, it was never mentioned. So happy you brought this to light. It was horrible.
I worked in the Post Office there with one of the stone throwers, 25 years later....happy to say his mentality had changed
🤘

never heard of the violent femmes but this is a fuckin banger
start digging. they are fantastic.
You been under a rock?
Well they were one of the first bands to mix Punk with Folk, the other band being the Pogues, so you could say they would both be like the DKMs dad and uncle.
Workers rights are human rights a joining a union helps get better wages for everyone even if you're not in a union. Advocate for pensions Universal Health Care Universal education and everything they help fight capitalism when capitalism wants to destroy the worker
Well put! Bravo!✊️
Yeah that's the struggle I mentally have here in Sweden. Should I pay the union fee or just leech the same benefits for free? I am paying for it now though :P
Tá neart san aontacht
When are they going to release this?
The album is released in May.
Will ye be making punk rook again

Who is the Violent Femmes they are Feat.??? F O ff I am kidding.... everyone in Chicago from the Mid to late 80's still know all the words to Add it Up and Blister in the Sun... Good to See these guys (DKM) give them respect and for that it made me like them better.... Although I do like Flogging Molly.... was West Coast then and saw a lot of them in Phoenix Area.... but Love this Song... GO IRISH!
name on the song 13:55?
How the fuck do they dox yalll
#rip ernie ball
I’d love to see the guys do a quick & dirty punk album with minimal flutes. Just take a month to write the catchiest songs possible, just keep the best ones… something for the fans.
I thought it said pee skill 😂
I heard of this group after President Biden's visit to Ireland.
I love it! And it's awesome they use an accordion.
President Biden??? really???
sorry to hear; they retired their writers
I like the new kind of music....but
I Miss The old style. Old Irish/Boston backyard fighting music. Like Warriors code.
I miss Al Barr. The new stuff is only " okay "
I feel the same. Seems they're doing too much political things and less Irish things. I miss Al Barr's voice.
@@koviftc Yes Sir! Thats exactly what i feel.
@@koviftc they've always been political, and as an Irish person, that's very much Irish. If you think otherwise, you're clearly not paying attention
@@mmoore2006 I know that,as I'm following dkm since 2000. I don't mind if they are being political (cba really). But on their new album they are using lyrics off a communist and that's quite pathetic.
I hope you know that despite they playing Irish music, they're not Irish 😉
@@koviftc I think she's saying she is Irish.
Good stuff. That wasn’t KC singing. Not sure why the video depicted him as the singer. Ohhhhh well. Love this band.
Silly, generic music.
Celtics suck!!!
Good song. But I don't like the way dkm is getting involved in politics and they're singing a song of a communist.
You must be new here. 😏
No mate, I'm not.
Didn't realize there's something political about taking on the KKK. I mean that should be basic common sense.
@@Murph_gaming Well, that's definitely a political question.
If you follow the classic definition of "politics" as "who gets what, and how" (and I also tack on "... and why" to that), you can pretty quickly see how virtually EVERYTHING humans do is political!
@@Murph_gamingthe KKK is mostly dead And has been. They unfortunately are part of the propaganda machine.
