I have an idea for you. Your video content is great, but your video SEO score is consistently poor.
If you want your video to reach the right audience, you need to optimize it for SEO.

GERRIN THERE MATE!!! BACK OF THE NET!!! Many, many congrats unto you and everyone else across that finish line. Enjoy your well-merited medal, and gaze upon it with pride.
I'm just gutted that I couldn't be there as one of those cheering you all on.

Aw thank you so much mate!! I really appreciate your kindness and support! It was an amazing day and tbh was the hardest one this year, purely because of the heat and lack of nutrition on the second loop of the bike course. This led to a bit of heat stroke but was able to carely push through it and get the job done!! I hope you had an amazing weekend down there too!!

Incredible performance and effort! Inspired! This content is super helpful as I hope to complete the IM Wales 2024 - thank you. Bit nervous of the swim, but I have taken note of your advice. Out of interest… Are you wearing a weighted vest for the run? :O

Hey Nichola, Thank you so much for your kindness and support! I really appreciate it.
Yeah, I completed all of the Ironman races in the UK & Ireland this year whilst wearing a Thrudark 10kg weighted vest and carrying a flag for the charity Rock 2 Recovery UK.
Glad I was able to inspire you and I hope I can continue to do so. That's amazing that you're looking to complete Ironman Wales in 2024, will this be your first one? Are you going to do any over events building up to it? Let me know if you need any help, would be happy to help! Also, I'll also be there!! :D
I am going to create a number of videos for open water swimming, breaking each element down to help people overcome the fears of the swim... So if you have any particular fears / questions, please let me know and I'll do my very best to create a video for you.

@@RecoveryLabTVGosh that’s incredible - I thought Ironman sounded challenging enough! I’ve just looked up the charity - what a brilliant cause (I might recommend it for a friend so thank you).
Yes, Wales will be my first one! I’ve been dreaming of it since I saw my friend complete his Ironman. In truth, the course does not suit my strengths - in fact, arguably it features all of my performance challenges 😂. But I’m a soppy so and so, and have chosen it for sentimental reasons. I’ve completed the Lakesman Half earlier this year, and next year plan to complete the Harlech Sprint, Slateman Olympic, Craft Snowman Legend, I might even attempt a cheeky 6km swim in Wales too. Basically, because I think I’ll return to focus on ultradistance cycling in 2025, I’m ticking off all the wild dream trialthons along the way. Awesome that you are doing it again! Have you given the Always Aim High events a go?
Wow that’s so kind. Well I guess things I’m actively thinking about are: picking the right wetsuit; feeling safe in open water; building up my mental toughness in water (I’m rather afraid of deep, dark, vast water); how to place myself in the swimming pack (do I get more assertive and swim in the pack or keep my distance from other swimmers)?; is there a difference between pool swimming technique and open water? And just generally any tips to develop confidence in wild water.

@@nicholacharlottebagshaw987 Aw please do, they’re an amazing charity that really does go out of their way to help those who need it!
Sometimes you’ve just got to take a leap of faith & train your ass off to make it happen. Ironman Wales was my first ever triathlon, my first ever swim race, bike race and my first ever marathon. So I totally understand how you’re feeling. However, it’s possible! So dare to dream & then take one step at a time. You’ll get there!!
Your build sounds great to be fair! Should be an epic adventure!! Ultra cycling? Tell me more… what have you done so far? I have a friend that does that. I’ve cycled the JOGLE a couple years ago, that’s as far as my ultra cycling experience goes lol
I’ve only ever done the Cardiff Triathlon as part of the Always Aim High event series to be honest.
Are you based in Wales? Maybe you’d like to join me open water swimming. I’ve got a little group that swims on the weekends, on Sunday’s. Would help develop your open water confidence!
I’ll make videos answering all of those questions for you!

@@RecoveryLabTV Honestly, it fills me with hope to hear people who have done Tenby for their first IM! Exactly 2024 - do what scares you and make dreams a reality. I mean even if it doesn’t go to plan, I’m going to put up a fight 😂. Thank you, yeah I just hope I don’t overdo it and allow time for recovery too. I forgot, I am also doing LCW too.
Whoa JOGLE! That’s on my bucket list along with the NC500. Fair Play! Yeah so I just love getting out on my bike for as long as possible. Basically I try to do as much in a day as possible. With a few double century’s under my belt (including two Chase The Sun events) I was working towards a 400km, but the week before take off I contracted COVID (typical!). Ah the Cardiff tri is a nice, fast route. I would definitely recommend their north Wales options - they are wild and beautiful. The Sandman was my first and at the time one of the hardest challenges I had put myself through - I both utterly loved and hated it, and haven’t stopped since.
Yeah I am returning to south Wales in January - thank you, I’d enjoy giving the group a go! I’ve just found your professional page (wow - crazy achievements, you should be proud!) - I will contact you once I am back from Canada. I look forward to the video - thanks for tailoring one to answer my concerns!

@@nicholacharlottebagshaw987 Honestly, if more people were honest about their experiences then new people wouldn’t feel so anxious. It’s one of my goals with my UA-cam channel, to be as honest about my experiences as possible. Covering as much content as possible so I can help as many people as possible. When I first started I didn’t know anyone in the sport so I completely know what it feels like to feel out of my depths.
You’ll love LCW, I’ve done it a few times and it’s always good. Especially building up to IM Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿
I’d love to do the JOGLE again, I did it over 8 days last time and would love to ride a longer route and explore more. Thought the whole experience was amazing! The NC500 is beautiful, would love to ride the whole thing one day!
North Wales is definitely on the list of to do’s. I’m doing the ‘Continuous Triple’ in 2024 by Brutal Events, I’d love to do the Triple Brutal in Snowdonia in 2025 maybe, would be a good way to explore up there. I’ve only ever been there once when I was working with Swim Wales & coaching in the lakes below.
Aw thank you! I appreciate your kindness, I’m trying to live & grow as much as I possibly can 😅🤣 Dream BIG aye!!
Yeah definitely, let me know when you’re back in South Wales and be sure to pop along. I’d be happy to help! 😁

How did this compare to Bolton ‘23? I did Bolton and have signed up for wales next year.

    • @RecoveryLabTV
      @RecoveryLabTV  Рік тому

Bolton this year was tough! I personally treated this years Ironman UK as a zone 2 training, which was tough because with the wind it made the bike ride a 7 / 7:30hr strength endurance session at 235 watts, so my legs were worked really hard. It was the first race that I've ever seen people just quitting on the bike, saying they can't do it anymore! Which really suprised me as I've never personally witnessed that before. This year's Ironman Wales was tough because of the heat conditions and for me personally due to the lack of nutrition and salt tabs on the second loop of the bike. This meant I was cramping and had to reduce my pace on the bike as I knew what was waiting for me on the run as this was my 3rd IM Wales. I personally think IM Wales is tougher because of the hills, but I'd say this years Ironman UK was on par because of the weather conditions.
More than happy to help if you have any more questions about any of the races.

If you did Bolton this year then you'll have seen me atop the slope out of Hawkshaw just prior to the right-hand turn towards Edgworth (via a particularly nasty hill which you can't get a decent run at due to a cruelly sharp bend just beforehand) as I stood cheering you all on in my City shirt and jacket. Thus I now want to offer my hearty congrats unto you for doing it. You'll also know yourself as to how brutal the wind was that weekend. I saw a whole lot of pain on a whole lot of faces.

@@RecoveryLabTV As a Type-1 Diabetic with a knackered back, a month and two days away from turning 60, I'm not sure it would be a wise choice any more :-) I was a very keen non-competitive cyclist and runner back in my younger days, mind, though never a great or enthusiastic swimmer. Best of luck to both you two competitors in IronMan Wales '24. Indeed nowt but the very best to all entrants.
