Finally done and the girls love it! Glad to have these bunk beds done. Plans are for sale on my website 50% off for the next 2 weeks, check them out. What should I build next? Https://www.woodworklife.com
Thanks, the girls love them and this is the one room we've finished in the new house so far. Hoping to get to some other big projects this year and finish off at least a couple more rooms.
This is cool project, not only can they both choose to sleep on the top or the bottom of their bed, there's two extra beds for sleepovers. What a great idea and use of an entire wall.
@@WoodWorkLIFE Wait until they join Girl Scouts, your wife is the troop leader, and the your girls have a sleepover with the whole troop. Been there, done that, and it was fun. I was a co-leader for a few years, but even before I was, I was very involved with the troop, and our girls had sleepovers many times with them.
Such a cool build. I like the touch with the wall lamps. Your shop looks like what mine wants to be when it grows up 😏 Those Laguna tools look pretty killer, definitely would like to see more about them. My boys are sleeping in beds my wife's grandfather built from oak for her and her sister when they were their age. The thoughtfulness in construction stands up over time, it's pretty amazing. One day if I can work up the nerve I need to refinish them though, I've been hesitant as I'm not confident I won't mess them up lol.
Ya over the last 3 years my shop has grown up a lot. Hoping to add a few more Laguna tools in the shop before all is said and done. If he finished the beds in shellac you might just be able to wipe them down with something to breakdown the old finish.
Those bunk beds are awesome!! And you have 2 really beutiful little girl's, you must be a very proud Daddy 🙂 My youngest is almost 7 now and she's totally mad, which just makes her a normal kiddie lol 😊
Ya pretty much, I don't try to correct the crazy so much as point it in productive directions. My girls are great, but we can't have nice things. My youngest colored on both the bunk bed ladders almost immediately.
@@WoodWorkLIFE nooooooo!!!!! What did she use to do the colouring? If it was wax crayon there are ways to get it off that involve an iron and grease prove paper (to protect the iron). Or it could be an " intentional" modern art finish when you show it to friends 🤔
@@WoodWorkLIFE Tell me about it, at that age I court my son talking to the 999 operator!!!! Talk about embarrassing........ not to mention tieing up an emergency phone line! I learnt pritty quick to nail the phone and anything else I didn't want damaged to the walls WAY over head height lol
Amazing craftsmanship, awesome video. You may want to add a small handle at the top somewhere to grab on to when they want to go down the stairs. I've seen kids fall off the top step trying to go backwards when they don't have a handle.
@@WoodWorkLIFE My kids take after their mom and are clumsy as all hell, that's why I can't stop thinking about stuff like that. Probably going to copy this build for my daughter if that's cool in a "nailed it" meme kind of way since I'm by no means a good craftsman like you.
Beautifully done. I'm sure you've run into this problem already but anything and everything will go under that little gap under the bottom bunk. That's my only regret building my girls' bunk beds
I’m in the process of completing this build. I even bought your plans but there are some inconsistencies in the info and I can’t see what the spacing should be for the guard rail. My version is only the upper loft and it hangs from the ceiling, thus avoiding the central pillar. Great, helpful video!
With going through a divorce, I'm really hoping to finally get hard core in building beds and furniture for me and my two kids once I get another house!! I'm actually really excited about being able to "reveal" items to my 8 & 5 year old. Just gotta get couple more things in line...Do Better, Be Better for them and myself!!
That's such a great personal approach to such a complicated situation. It's important for us dad's to strive to be the best for our kids. If you set yourself as a minimum expectation for what to grow up to be, they're going to have a better life than we did. My life has been great, I just hope I can give my kids better than I had. That's the goal right?
They're noise from compression and iso noise. I was shooting in auto iso. You can shoot at lower isos or use a denoiser. I didn't use a denoiser because...I'm lazy, they're expensive, and it's UA-cam.
There are no sponsors on this build. I did a circular saw review and followed up on it because someone had asked me to chime in on this saw in a comment on a previous video. I bought new Laguna tools (for thousands of dollars) and they are good, and I am excited about them. I legitimately used CA glue across this whole project and I thought that was interesting because, you wouldn't think super glue when you build bunk beds...Is it wrong for me to share affiliate links to hope to recoup SOME of the money and time I poured into this project and video for you to watch for free?
What a troll. Some people just gotta be negative for the sake of being negative. Rick, you make great videos that educate while they entertain. That's no easy feat. Please keep it up and let the haters move on like this guy. For those who don't know, affiliate links typically earn maybe a 3% commission on the high end. So if he posted an affiliate link to a $20 tool and someone clicked on his link and bought it he would make 60 cents. The likelihood of someone actually doing that is pretty low. So by posting affiliate links it gives his followers an opportunity to support his channel in a small way at no cost to them by purchasing something they want or need that was used in his videos.
@@WoodWorkLIFE If you aren't being compensated for prominently mentioning the brand of every tool and product you use, maybe don't? It comes across like a bad infomercial. I don't mind if youtubers say something like "If you're interested in the products I use, I have affiliate links below", but I don't like the feeling that you're actively trying to sell them. You do you, of course - much of your audience doesn't seem to mind. I mind enough that I can't retain my subscription.
@@htxb This is an interesting usage of the word troll. I live in a world where I am constantly bombarded with unwanted advertisements and I thought it might be valuable to this channel to know that I found this video so brand-heavy I decided to unsubscribe. Hater I can live with - just understand that it's the branding I'm hating on and not the education.
@@benwake4823 Ben Wake fair enough. We all do and some bother me more than others. But, like you said in your comment to @Wood.Work.Life some viewers don't mind his mentioning of brands. From what I see he's always up front about any promotions he receives for any video. The way it came across to me is mentioning the brand of his new equipment was more of a humble brag...that's some nice equipment that most people would love to have if they had the means and the space. When he mentioned the CA glue brand, he did so in the exact way you said you don't mind it being done. Either way, sorry I offended you. We all have a right to our own opinions.

Nice clean design!
Their reaction to the bunk beds was absolutely priceless! Fantastic work
Thanks man, they love them. Its their favorite place in the house.
Oh man pls more like this!!! This is gorgeous! And your girls are so proud
Thanks so much, I loved making the girls so happy.
Spiral threaded dowels, I like it
I got that one from our buddy Huy.
This is so lovely
Thanks! The girls still love it
Those are the most awesome bunks I've ever seen. And the rails and ladders really make the whole thing pop.

Beautiful job
Awesome build! you have given me some ideas for my Son's room.
I look forward to seeing what you come up with.
Just amazing, great job man, subscribed!
Thanks for the sub!
Awesome job Rick! 😃👍🏻👊🏻
Thanks Fred! I poured a lot into this one.

Exactly, now our house is sleepover central. I love it, but I am a little scared of having 4 kids running around my house.

Me thinks your artistic lighting inhibits your building! 😂
Sometimes. It probably takes me 3x longer to build a project to setup all the shots and build.
