I went to school in laurinburg at St Andrews. Very different from the mountain areas. Saint Andrews back then was very left leaning. Many in the rural area were conservative of course. It was also in a dry county back then so no partying in town😮
Thanks for doing this video, Elena. I'm a New England transplant living just outside of Mars Hill, and this is the most amazing place to live ever. Wonderful and welcoming neighbors, beautiful scenery, bucolic but civilized. Asheville is an easy hop to the south, and the TN Tri-Cities area is a short and scenic trip just over the mountains. Best move we ever made.
The dense tract of starter homes that are $350K are right across from "the dump" or waste center, if you want to sound fancy, which stinks in the hot summer months. The downtown infrastructure can't handle too much more new home construction. It's already nearly impossible to make a left turn onto the main street between 2-6 p.m. M-F and downtown parking is extremely limited. Also, the first house she shows you is over a million dollar house, so for those moving from the west coast or New England, that is certainly a bargain, but not affordable for anyone local. As for the commute, my husband's drive recently went from a 30 min commute to downtown Asheville to a 45-50 min commute during peak hours.
Thoughts on living in a college town surrounded by rural communities?

@ dry county in college town- maybe for the best?😅
@livinginashevillenc Oh there was plenty of drinking on campus. Presbyterians aren't against hitting the sauce every now and then. 🥴🍻

Thank you for sharing your input.
Do you notice that travel time gotten worse after hurricane?
That’s what I’m seeing here in the Asheville area.
@@livinginashevillenc Yes, it has gotten significantly worse, I am assuming from closures of I-40 (and other roads) that require repairs.
@ yeah…it took me an hour to get from Woodfin to South Asheville last week (at 4:30) 🥴
The tongue and groove ceiling of the first property is gorgeous
@@ashleylitebrite6971 the whole house is nice😍
Wow, that is quite a property, the first one, excellent video. You don't need makeup.
