Using Technology to Manage Marine Protected Areas WCS Belize

The Wildlife Conservation Society has spent more than 30 years in Belize advancing MPA establishment, management, and research, alongside its many partners, including the Belize Fisheries Department.
Establishing Marine Protected Areas and monitoring their effectiveness are key components of building an ecologically representative and functional network and coastal protected areas that provide critical habitat, replenishment zones, and refuge for heavily exploited species such as the queen conch.
WCS will continue to collaborate with the Fisheries Department and other stakeholders to effectively manage MPA’s in Belize, using technology.
