Climate change is impacting agricultural productivity for small farmers who are among the most vulnerable to its effects. Climate-smart agriculture (CSA) can offer small farmers a way to better absorb climate impacts and sustainably increase their productivity and income.
The Climate Adaptation and Protected Areas (CAPA) Initiative is implementing Nature-Based Solutions (NbS) projects currently underway within the Maya Forest Corridor in Belize to support small-scale farmers impacted by climate change, which includes dry weather, droughts, and forest fires, by implementing climate-smart agricultural practices.
With support from the CAPA Initiative, Mr. Michael Hendy is adapting the use of cover structures, a Climate-Smart Agriculture technique, to improve his small farm.
This initiative is an effort by the @InternaInternational Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) and Wildlife Conservation Society Belize, with support from Global Affairs Canada.
