I have a different interpretation of the shooting star verse.
I think he's saying that his art comes from his upbringing, his introspection, his struggle with the culture but the culture at its core was love and elevates him. It comes at a cost, everything he talked about on Mr. Morale. Fame degrades Kendrick's soul. Which is why he lives in the circadian rhythm of a shooting star, dead and quiet most of the time but flashes where he lights up the night sky and reminds everyone there's interstellar magic out there.

I read the first bars as him working through a moral struggle, rather than a professional or commercial one.
