  • Breaking down an AMAZING piece of lore that explains why Luke Skywalker acted so dark and aggressive when confronting Jabba the Hutt, eerily taking on some of Darth Vader's traits...

That's the last mistake you'll ever make. One of my favorite Luke Skywalker lines.

I always simply assumed it was mostly a bluff. He wanted to seem very intimidating knowing the circumstances. There was a plan in place and he stuck to it. His entire "mood" lightened the moment he was reunited with his friends

Luke using the force choke actually makes sense and not just in a "using the darkside sense" but it was a good way to dispatch the Gamorrean guards quietly

It was a projection of power. Jabba wasn’t going to be reasoned or bargained with. The only move left was for luke to demonstrate his power in no uncertain terms. Go through jabba’s defenses, his guards like they weren’t even there stand in front if him and demand the release if his friends. Luke showed even more power by being aware of the guards closing in on him and being unconcerned. What was funny to me was if luke choose to do it, he could have killed jabba and every one if his men in that throne room without blinking but restrained himself. What jabba mistook for overconfidence was in fact Luke being restrained.

You know what else that tells me Luke Skywalker is the true heir of Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader not Kylo.

Bro took “like father like son” to heart

it's crazy because I never thought he was going to turn, even in the throne room. I always thought he was just trying to intimidate Jabba.

Luke is what Anakin should've been. Balanced in the Force.

When he choked the guards, my my twelve year old self thought: " Whoa! He's becoming just like Vader! "

Makes sense why he grinned when he told Jabba, "That's the last mistake you'll ever make." He was going to get his wish of ridding the galaxy of Jabba. He hated him for the pain he caused his friends. Absolute savage.

I rememver seeing Luke Force Choke the guards and wondering "WTH?"

  • @amarcellus1714

Jabba fucked with the Skywalker twins and he paid for it. 😎

  • @chrishealton3830

I always just figured it was for the most part a bluff to seem intimidating. A very effective one. Not like jabba didn’t already know what a Jedi was having been alive for centuries and dealing with countless Jedi personally most likely. Luke needed to come off like Vader to make the point that he isn’t just any Jedi and wasn’t messing around.

I always thought this was Luke Skywalker's Clint Eastwood moment.

  • @jomankatal7561

I believe that he was close to the dark side but still he was knowledgeable and used this pull to the dark to his advantage to saved the ones he loved because Luke was more a grey jedi. He believed in attachment which men 't Luke used what was necessary but only to a certain extant making him extremely wise.

Luke warned him and he meant it, his self confidence was not his undoing

Luke’s willingness to kill the Rancor rather than try to make peace with it makes sense now.

  • @anthonymckibbins5926

Interesting analysis. I know towards the ending of ROTJ when he was battling his father, he looks as he was struggling not to yield to the dark side of force.👍🏿

There's one more thing to consider: Luke getting shot in the hand, and wearing a black glove for the rest of the movie. That sets up the final confrontation very early on. Dark Side users gradually get corrupted physically. Wearing that glove later on is what reminded him not only of what Vader had turned in to, but how he himself had started to turn back on Tattooine. That scene at the end wouldn't have had the same weight if he looked down at what was a normal-looking hand. The viewer might not understand it at all, if they hadn't seen Empire Strikes Back first. So they have Luke get shot in the hand to remind the audience that it's synthetic, and the glove is there to subtly remind viewers of that fact throughout the whole movie. And then of course when Luke looks down at his black-gloved hand, then at Vader's missing hand, it clicks for both him and the viewer. And while I don't have anything to back this up, it's probably why Luke continued to wear the black glove after the events of RotJ--to serve as a constant reminder. Notice that in The Mandalorian he splits his Light and Dark power by his hands. His left (real) hand he uses Light abilities like Force Push Force Pull, and Force Throw. But when he uses his Dark Side power Force Crush, he
